I thought Gus Searcy had to telephonically be in court on Feb. 13th regarding who was in the car with him?
In the dismissal hearing after the state rested, JM brought up the theft of the gun as a grounds for Jodi's current burglary charge. He also brought up alternate grounds for a burglary charge as the initial assault on Travis Alexander. Apparently in Arizona, the state can charge someone with burglary, and have multiple theories of how that charge is warranted.
It was eye opening for me because I didn't know it worked like that -- but the judge agreed and denied the motion to drop the burglary charge.
Oh, ok. Thanks bryanwasdrunk.
I'm actually not sure if that's what the Feb 13 telephonic hearing is about. I'm guessing the sealed testimony from Searcy wasn't televised (was it???)
I'll have to look at the court minutes and see what day they are talking about and if and what Searcy said. It could also mean his testimony including ". . . and if I refuuuuuuuusseeeeeee . . . What if I take the fifth?" is out of the record.
He's a bullshit witness anyway. He had absolutely nothing relevant to say and was merely comic relief, imo.
Maybe this BOMBSHELL is that the whacker pics were those of ... dramatic nauseated pause ... GUS SEARCY!!!
Something ain't right here. I wouldn't be surprised if he was playing Linda Tripp to Jodi's Monica Lewinsky. But isn't that illegal/inadmissable in court?
It's driving me nuts that he seems to think he has something that would have helped the state, but that he is now testifying for the defense. Smarmy fucker.
It just seems like the defense is playing dirty pool because it's all they got left. Jodi didn't leave them much choice as the last defense team had to get dismissed because Jodi's stories were as loose as her snizz. The current defense consisting of a woman that could easily be the crazy cat-lady from down the street, and the bottom-talking, mouth breathing car salesman who probably sweats profusely while eating, are pulling out all the stops. And they're pulling them out of Jodi's money-making, man-breaking favorite orifice that might just have some magic left in it! Distracting the jury from the murder by calling it self defense, denigrating Travis's image and legacy, taking shit other people say completely outta context but super-badass Martinez slaps that shit down like Mutombo. Next they might try the goddamn jedi mind trick. Or is that what they're trying to do with the whole misconduct or what boils down to 'tattling' for christ sake. I have noticed a pattern with the defenses keystone wit-lesses, they all end up benefiting the prosecution. Next they're bringing in the specialist all-stars, & I am guessing it's gonna play out more like the special olympics.
It is always so interesting to read forums and other people's opinion on the way a case is going.
There have been some questions raised and some good debating points.
What we are talking and debating about are going to be the same thing the jury does.
Jodi's defense sucks. I don't say that just to make a joke about them or anything....I really think they suck. There are many things they should have fought against to be allowed in court. They are so focused on some things that they are completely letting other things pass by.
Not sure if this has been posted or not, and obviously she's not a serial killler, but apparently she's not the first person to take pictures of her victim right before murdering them.

Always be yourself. Unless you can be a unicorn.
I never said being Mormon was why she was sheltered. I have MANY Mormon friends/co-workers (there is a large LDS community in Mesa) who don't give that impression. But she and her brother both came across as very sheltered to me, which I attribute to some extremely religious families (ALL religions, not just Mormon).
As for her age, I don't remember her testifying that she had already graduated, but I may have missed it. I recalled hearing on HLN that she was 13 or 14 at the time of the trips.
He might be after his appeal. It won't surprise me.
Don't get me wrong--I think he's guilty as sin, but I said before his trial that there was no way I'd want to be on that jury. They didn't have nearly enough evidence against him to get the dealth penalty. If the jury truly had no knowledge of the case prior to the trial, they took a huge leap of faith to get to first degree murder.
I'm not sure I would have been able to do it based on the evidence there.
Now Jodi, on the other hand...
You're exactly right. The jury will comb through every single detail, at least they're supposed to. Based on the questions the jury has asked, deliberations might last a while. Also based on their questions I don't think the jury is particularly impressed with either side. I believe Jodi will be convicted, but I feel like it's going to be 2nd degree. I honestly don't think she has to worry about dying.
That was horrible. Those poor people. :(
Many of the murderers claimed to be photographers to lure their victims into vulnerable positions.
Note to self: if ever approached by a stranger asking to talks photos of me, RUN!
Especially if said photos are to be taken in the desert, abandoned warehouse, etc.
I was totally kidding. I don't think you're psycho. She's a 'character' on another thread and thinks because her brother's wife's cousin's baby daddy is a radiologist that she has the knowledge of testifying in court about radiology. It was totally a joke not a stab.
People from the Morgan thread back me up here! Lol!!
Justice, Aaronsmommy was kidding. She totally meant that as a silly comment, not a bad one.
For the record, I don't think Glasshat is trolling. It's not so much what she says, but how she says it that get me up sitting up straight sometimes. It's just her way. I do strongly believe it's all in the telling, how you say something that can offend people sometimes. Not you GH, generic you, as in all of us. I hope that makes sense.
