Sorry to jump inBut I have heard some pretty scary stuff about those Ecigs. I don't know how common it is, but they have blown up in peoples mouths!
Karma is only a bitch if you are!
Never heard of blu cig. Same here in CT, no smoking anywhere anymore. I haven't been drinking for close to a year, but I belong to a club that allow smoking in the bar because it is private. The cloud of smoke in there kills my eyes, but it beats going outside in the freezing cold. Last 2 nights CT had a frost warning. Wishing for a little of your AZ heat.
I ended up with the Nicorette Inhalers. I haven't actually quit so much as replaced, but it's like the 80's again- I can fake-smoke in school assemblies, hospitals, at the movies, on trains...lovely. & everyone just thinks I've got a stumpy little pen in my mouth.
ETA & they can't explode. Bonus!

Since today is a trial day, the "other" thread will move very fast. I usually write down the page number or post number when the trial starts. If I post during the trial, I will be flung back and forth over 3-5 pages. It's hard being a good citizen. I especially like the folks who start warning that the forum will crash, so they post one more cause what they got to say about the place crashing around our ears is necessary for all to know.
There's a thread for that!
http://mydeathspace.com/vb/showthrea...hlight=smoking But it's preemie only.![]()
Yeah, there is a thread for that. Somehow this conversation started last night and technically isn't violating any rules due the thread name so we kept it going. Plus, you are right, sometimes the thread is premie. Thanks for the info though, hopefully knowing what is available as a premie makes some peeps donate the $20.
Did I say anyone was violating rules? No. Just that there is a ton of good info there. But now that you mention it... this really has nothing to do with Jodi and might better be moved to a new non-premie thread here: http://mydeathspace.com/vb/forumdisp...eral-Off-Topic
I personally don't really care, but the librarian in me says if we don't try to maintain a bit of order no one will be able to find anything.
I don't know if I am going to watch the Aggravation phase today. Dr. Horne will be testifying, so I may sneak a peak, but only if it rains this afternoon. If I quit smoking I can use the equivalent of 2 - 3 packs of cigarettes to go Premium. Just waiting until I go back to work.
Oh, I wasn't trying to insinuate that you were saying someone was violating the rules. My bad...it's all good. I apologize if you took it that way. There IS a lot of good info there, I've visited it but didn't post yet. Technically, you are totally right about this thread. It has been a spillover thread for people to take a breather from the trial and really does deserve to be somewhere else. I know what you mean about the librarian...I am kind of anal about things like that too.
my bad. I kept it going too. I promise to go premium once I'm not supporting mom.
if anyone wants to occasionally post any updates today I'd appreciate it. I'm going to be on my kindle reading because the nursing home frowns on me streaming it live. the voices coming out of my kindle skeer the inmates and my mom is confused enough. new fangled technology and all.![]()

The last time that I quit, I decided that I can never smoke again, ever, and I am ok with that. And yes, I can drink without smoking, but mainly because I know that if I smoke again, I may start up the daily habit again, and I don't want that. I am getting too old for that shit.
All of the times that I quit, I quit cold turkey. This last time, I'd cut down to about 3-10 cigarettes a day. During the week, I did not allow myself to smoke at work or in the car, so I'd have one in the morning, then none until I got home, then I'd have 2 or 3. The most I'd smoke would be on the weekends, when I'd have around 10. So I planned a vacation and went out of town for the weekend with friends who didn't know I smoked (I was a closet smoker), so I was unable to smoke at all. By the time I got back, the worst of it was over.
I also really, really wanted to quit, so I was motivated. I think that's probably important.
The way I'd think about it when I'd get a craving for a cigarette is the same way I'd deal with it if I was in a place where I absolutely could not smoke. All smokers have times when they can't smoke and we deal with it. Just tell ourselves we can't smoke and move on. That is how I'd deal with the cravings.
I'd also eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted and drank soda (which was a treat for me because I don't normally drink it) or an herbal tea when I'd have a craving. I did gain weight, but only 5 lbs which is easily dealt with. It was really only the first 3 or 4 days that were bad, after that, I'd still get a craving but it was very easily dealt with. I no longer even wanted to smoke after about a week.
I also tried to work out pretty regularly, that helped with the mood swings.
Just my two cents, hope that helps someone.

You're acting passive aggressive. This thread is gonna get shut down by the end of the day, as far as I'm concerned, because it's pointless and there's already a chit chat thread.
All Puzz was saying is that to spare any excess info and get right to the source, there is a thread about quitting smoking. That is how this website and these boards operate. There are specific threads for specific topics, not just a free for all everywhere. That is what fucked up the Jodi thread as well, people just using it to post whatever--"good morning!" I have relationship issues! etc--instead of using the boards properly.
This may be why the thread continued in the manner it did. Not that it wasn't a clusterfuck to begin with.
For what it's worth faq, I've never seen attitude come from you. I think some people are taking your posts personally when you are being nonchalant about things. It's hard to decipher tone in type so it can be easy to misinterpret. Maybe I'm misinterpreting your tone and you really are an asshole, but I don't think so. You've been a great contributor to the board. I hope you hang around for a while!
Thanks Morbid. I am certainly not trying to come across as an asshole. I hope no one thinks that. I've tried to help people and enjoy the conversations. I'm just trying to contribute and sometimes, I go with the flow. If I am wrong for what I post, then I am truly sorry.
You aren't wrong for having your own opinion or sharing your own life experiences. I take your demeanor as a jokester and pretty laid back. You don't have to apologize for everything you do, because believe me, most people aren't going to apologize to you. Just hang in there, you're doing fine.![]()
