I think Jodi looks casual and calm. She thinks this is in the bag.

I bet she is dressed so casually today because it is Martinez's big moment. She doesn't want to show him respect. Bet she wears the blazer tomorrow for Nurmi's closing. Just a thought...

This. She BROUGHT the knife and gun. She changed her hair color. The gas cans so as not to leave a trail. The turning off of the phone. This was CLEARLY not a crime of passion, but premeditated. The jury must see this too.

The burglary thing...what did she burgle? She didn't take his gun because he didn't have a gun. That's tricky. If you she brought a gun, that's premeditation but it isn't burglary, right?

IMO, clearly Jodi had no illusions of cleaning up the crime scene after seeing the big bleedout blood stain on the carpet -- that was there to stay.

What she did need to do is buy herself time. As much time as she could so she could at least control her destiny: by suicide or later surrender or whatever.

So she wanted/needed to get Travis' lifeless body as far out of sight as possible. Laying there at the entry, it would be most readily discovered: by peeping into his bedroom or by smell.

So she tried to pull it back into the shower ... but it was too heavy and it was sticking to the hallway floor with his blood that was coagulating.

So Jodi got that plastic cup -- the one found in the shower -- and she spread water on the hard surfaced floor as a lubricant to help slide his body back to the shower.

The water reduced the friction & mitigated stickyness enough to allow the body slip & slide along the floor.

She could also have rolled his body onto a towel, then wet the towel & floor and used that to drag him back to the shower.

Remember there was so much water that an adjacent file box was soaked red on the bottom.

If she were cleaning up, she surely would have wiped the blood off the wall that contained her hand print -- it was readily in view. And there was blood everywhere. Cleaning all of that was impossible.

So the water was used as a lubricant -- perhaps like the Egyptians used sand to move those huge pyramid stones.

And the cup/water/shower/towel were used to clean her body -- I do think she undressed to clean the blood off & put on clean clothes/shoes.

All of which bought her time -- his body wasn't discovered for days -- and escape: she wasn't covered in blood.
I have the same tiles in all my bathrooms and hallways. Those tiles are treacherous when wet. If you walk on them with bare feet or socks, its fine. Makes perfect sense she knew how slippery the tiles are when wet!

JA looks like she's in a classroom and not on trial for her life. Murder 1...nothing less. The burglary won't fly, unless they have a jury who hates her for what's she's done as much as I do.

I feel slightly nervous about these instructions. But then I think about Juan and how he has such a way of driving home points. I have confidence. Justice will be served. I gotta believe this.
IF another OJ/CA happens, I will lose ALL faith in our system.

juan also explained in a hearing during the trial when nurmi had a motion to remove the felony murder - he argued that after jodi initially attckd travis and he wasn't dead and she kept going against travis' will she also committed felony assualt - hence the felony murder - and the judge agreed w/ juan

Jodi and her defense team sure did tailor-make her self-defense, domestic violence claims exactly according to law. They used those few years to get it just right.

JM will bring it home and explain that she didn't kill him right away because of the room mates. Then she lured him into the shower.

She stole the gun from her grandparents as well.

Right. The felony/burglary with aggravating comes from being in his home after she attacked him.

So, Jodi remained unlawfully after she first shot or stabbed Travis (because permission was revoked at that instant), and since she kept stabbing, she had the intention to commit a felony. So she has at least committed second degree burglary. And since Jodi obviously "possessed" both a gun and a knife during the attack, which happened after permission was revoked, she has committed first degree burglary.

Jodi attacked Travis in his home. A person's home is their sanctuary, their safe place. That Jodi attacked him there, she violated his right to safety in his own home, and became an unwanted visitor after the first strike.

It's a fine line, but I understand it and support it. A person has a right to feel safe in their own home. Jodi purposefully used Travis' safe feeling in his home against him, to trap him and catch him off guard.
