What matters is that one week before the murder, a gun was stolen from her grandparents' house which is the same caliber that was used to kill TA, she dyed her hair, she rented a car 90 miles away from her home, she asked for another color, she turned off her phone, she asked for 2 gas cans and she bought another one, she lied saying she wanted to get cheaper gas but she still bought gas in CA, she lied about the third gas can, she deleted some incriminating pictures, she tried to clean the crime scene, she lied to the police, she lied to friends. That is premeditation.
And the most important thing: we have a person who was murdered with multiple stabs, a shoot to the head, and a slash to the throat, and we have another person who DID NOT have any apparent injuries from that confrontation but a couple of finger cuts. That is what matters.
This. I am going to dig up this much beaten dead horse and beat it one more time. MY opinion is that it doesn't matter what happened first. IF she shot him first and he was still conscious enough to try and "grab at her" and say "kill you bitch" then he felt the stabs of the knife. Cruelty is proven right there to me. IF she stabbed him first, then he felt everything that happened thereafter. Again, cruelty proven. Either way that it happened (which we will NEVER know because of who it is coming from) the man attempted to stop the attack. That is proven from the cuts on his hands....

I think it was a clearly sarcastic question letting us know one juror doesn't care about what the lawyers were battling over, bringing the ME back for his 3rd curtain call... That it's as simple as she shot him and he's dead. Not a defense juror, IMO.
I completely agree with you! Definitely a sarcastic question. He/She probably sat there like "are you kidding me? ANOTHER testimony about this?!"

Very excited Juan gets to speak twice! And is the last one heard.

I don't understand the refusal to accept that this CAN happen because the FACT that it CAN doesn't help her story enough to negate everything else against her - because it's certainly not garden-variety common, BUT IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE. Put shit on the defense for their UNLIKELY story, but don't ridicule anyone who dares speak against the group view in this thread, because it IS possible.

I read more on Phineas Gage. He never lost consciousness. He walked to a cart to take him to the Dr. He talked all the way there. & it wasn't mono-syllables, it wasn't nonsensical ravings. It was much what he normally would've discussed. He was able to correctly answer all questions put to him, including correctly naming a list of his fellow workers. The cart driver could see his brain pulsating in the mess of blood. The Dr kept asking him what had happened because he refused to believe the story was possible. Until Phineas said he was going to puke. He walked over to the basin in the room & when he bent to throw up, a portion of brain, large enough to fill a small cup, fell out onto the floor. At that point the Dr paid full attention to the story.

Gases or no gases a whopping great metal pole shooting through a cheek & blasting out the top of a skull is going to cause rather a shockwave of it's own. & who was it way back in the thread who reminded us of the footage of that kid at Columbine? I know you all remember THAT - 2 shots to the head & he still managed to lower himself out a window. Maybe those ones were special gasless bullets? Or do some of you think he was faking? (do excuse me, of course I meant to say malingering).

The handful we were able to quickly name are just the high profile or much studied cases. There are many many more that are only known to those directly involved with the patient. Just like all motor vehicle accidents don't make the news, neither do gunshot wounds - they're not exactly a rare occurence & many barely rate a mention -especially when the victim wasn't even killed. & We ARE talking about victims who WEREN'T killed. If you guys want to laugh &scoff that surviving a severe brain injury & walking & talking afterwards is so fucking impossible it's FUCKING HILARIOUS HA!! HAHA, then you aren't just putting shit on Jodi anymore, you are laughing at everyone this has REALLY happened to & you're denouncing them as liars as well. That is adding insult to injury in the truest sense.

& yes, I know SOME of you conceded it's possible. This isn't directed at anyone who said alright, it's possible BUT IT'S REALLY REALLY RARE. That's fine. I have NO problem with it being said like that. I have a problem with all the scathing remarks & insults at how stupid & utterly gullible you have to be to get sucked into thinking someone could be conscious, walking &/or talking after being shot in the head, because IT CAN HAPPEN.
The scoffing is generally done not just because it is unlikely (not impossible, but unlikely) for Travis to have been functioning well enough to walk and talk, but because Jodi's story, when taken into it's full account is so unbelievable.

We have to believe that the whole world conspired to make Jodi look like she premeditated the attack on Travis. Then we have to believe that Travis was a pedophile. Then we have to believe that Travis abused her and harmed her so badly that she absolutely feared for her life. Then we're to believe that Jodi, who is afraid of Travis, drove over a thousand miles to come see him. Then we're supposed to believe that the guy who did not harm her or scream at her for destroying the car he had given to her flipped his shit because she dropped a camera. Then we're supposed to believe that Jodi managed to get to her feet immediately after being body-slammed. That Travis, who at that point was not injured, was somehow unable to catch her (despite her testimony that when neither of them had been injured in a previous chase, he had caught her), and that instead of running for freedom, she remembered the Super Secret Gun, and magically flew up the shelves to grab the gun (Travis still didn't catch up to her????). She managed to get into the bathroom and shoot him, and then Travis was still such a threat to her (despite her saying that she got to her feet and he was still laying on the floor) that she had no other options but to stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and stab and then slit his throat. And then there's the fog and the cover-up and the lies and meeting up with a new guy and kissing him less than a day after she sliced up Travis.

Cliff notes: Being shoti n the head does not mean someone can't get up. But that doesn't actually make Stabby's story any more believable, since she's a proven liar.

Remember this one important point: Jodi only admits the truth when she has no more wiggle room. She would have denied that she was in Travis's home until the day she died, but her photos proved otherwise. She knew then that she was sunk. She cried all about how she was 'done'.

It would be interesting to know if the people in the cases you had brought up had had to engage in hand-to-hand combat with their shooter. I'm curious, because I'd wonder if they would have been capable of getting as far and fighting as hard as Travis did. In my opinion, there is a world of difference between someone who is able to get up and walk somewhere, and someone who is fighting for their life, and quickly being drained of energy and strength.

Travis would have had to be some sort of superman to be able to fight Stabby off enough, get to his feet, get to the sink, and keep fighting her all the way down the hallway.

And speaking of Phineas Gage, if I recall correctly, he was not able to immediately stand up. I believe the reports said it took him a few minutes to gather himself. Travis didn't have a few minutes; he was being stabbed at the end of the hallway in that one photo. It would have taken at least thirty seconds for Stabby's chain of events to unfold. Travis would have had to have to have been IMMEDIATELY able to stand.

Nice try, but still not buying Jodi's story.

I can only imagine her pain. I pray to God that nothing like that ever happens to one of my 4 kids. That has to be killing her inside. I don't know how she sits in the court every day.

I hope the jury is finding her story and outright lies more condusive to finding M1. She brutally killed Travis. There is no excuse for that. It was overkill. There has been no evidence of abuse in any way from TA. The DT has not proven abuse with any witness or testimony. To me, they haven't been able to rebut the Prosecution's evidence. In my experience and perception of people says she is guilty of M1.
I would think that they'll have a hard time looking at what she did..the pictures..and want to let her back out on the streets of anywhere, anytime during her life.

I got so tired and my poor little lappy got so hot watching the trial yesterday I eventually gave up and went to bed, then wondered if I could work out how to stream on my tablet, it worked! Was so good lying in bed watching it instead.

Fingers crossed for closing arguments today, will only watch Juan's and then follow all your updates here for defence closing, I know now that i won't be able to stomach listening to it live.

You've come this far - why give up watching in the home stretch?

Watching and listening to Nurmi - if he closes - will be painful indeed. However since closing arguments must be completed by tomorrow I suppose Nurmi will only have time to compose and speak about four sentences.

Good morning everybody! I am so glad this case is almost finished. I have Jodi burnout.
Just imagine how quicker this would be over with if the court was like court yesterday. Maybe this case would have only last a few weeks!

Anyway, I thought yesterday was good. Personally, I don't care if Jodi shot him first or stabbed him. I don't care if Travis smacked her in the face real hard or body slammed her to the ground. She added about 29 additional steps to her actions that day. Doesn't matter which came first. If she shot him first, she still continued on by stabbing him 29 times, then cut his throat.
Nothing in Jodi's whole story justifies what she did that day. She brutally murdered him! Then she worked very hard afterwards to coverup her crime. That shows a person that knew what she did was wrong. Rage and overkill!

Wanted to let everybody know that I will NOT be writing the recaps for closing. There really is no need to.

As much as I dislike the DT's style and tactics, personalities, etc.....they did a great job muddying the waters. It pains me to say, I would give them an A+.

They started with a seemingly cut and dry case of Murder #1 against their client - Yet they managed, with smoke and mirrors, to create confusion, doubt, and disagreement. They undoubtedly gave JW a run for his money.

In the end, however, I do not believe the DT was interested in revealing the truth or achieving fairness. In fact, I believe the DT had to set aside every modicum of wisdom and intellect they possessed in order to advance the theories they did.

Therefore, the A+ means nothing in the grand scheme of things. They are unprincipled and underhanded charlatans. Whether they win or lose, they will never be the same. They will be forever tainted by their choice to promote evil over good.

Out, damned spot! out, I say! .... Here?s the smell of the blood still: all the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand!

You've done an awesome job!!! Take a rest and let Juan do his magic :o) As you said, there is NO excuse for what she did, regardless of what order everything happened. He no doubt suffered an excruciating death, and Jodi needs to pay for that.

IMO, clearly Jodi had no illusions of cleaning up the crime scene after seeing the big bleedout blood stain on the carpet -- that was there to stay.

What she did need to do is buy herself time. As much time as she could so she could at least control her destiny: by suicide or later surrender or whatever.

So she wanted/needed to get Travis' lifeless body as far out of sight as possible. Laying there at the entry, it would be most readily discovered: by peeping into his bedroom or by smell.

So she tried to pull it back into the shower ... but it was too heavy and it was sticking to the hallway floor with his blood that was coagulating.

So Jodi got that plastic cup -- the one found in the shower -- and she spread water on the hard surfaced floor as a lubricant to help slide his body back to the shower.

The water reduced the friction & mitigated stickyness enough to allow the body slip & slide along the floor.

She could also have rolled his body onto a towel, then wet the towel & floor and used that to drag him back to the shower.

Remember there was so much water that an adjacent file box was soaked red on the bottom.

If she were cleaning up, she surely would have wiped the blood off the wall that contained her hand print -- it was readily in view. And there was blood everywhere. Cleaning all of that was impossible.

So the water was used as a lubricant -- perhaps like the Egyptians used sand to move those huge pyramid stones.

And the cup/water/shower/towel were used to clean her body -- I do think she undressed to clean the blood off & put on clean clothes/shoes.

All of which bought her time -- his body wasn't discovered for days -- and escape: she wasn't covered in blood.

For me, it's all about the throat slash. That was the "take that, Travis" moment.
