I can at least talk about it with my sister, but she has less patience with the defense than I do, so it's often me keeping her up to date on what's going on. She'll tune in for Juan though.

Well spotted, Dizzy. I am British. There are people watching this trial all over the world, as you know. I use Defense rather than Defence as it is the USA legal system.

I am amazed at the interest in this case. I first caught my attention when I heard on the news that she was born in Salinas Cal which is about 20 minutes southeast from where I live. I'm also about the same distance north from Monterey County... in fact (according to her story) Jodi passed thru here when she came from Yreka, thru Santa Cruz down the coast to Monterey County and then on to Walmart, Salinas... best deal on gas cans in town :)

I really hope Lava is not a goner....it wouldn't be fair to only have her defense testimony examined. Wouldn't the DT just love that....so perhaps it was planned for her to approach Samantha. Nothing is beneath them.

yup, I'm sure it's the Alyce violation shit. Maybe they were caught at planting those two women, wonder if they can boot an expert witness for something like that. Hum can't be, she's still there, besideds it's DP case so the judge is taking some less drastic measure but no doubt in my mind, def games like AL plants and the cell phone caper is being covered.

Maybe it's more like his only approach. For me, a strategy is something you plan and vary to suit the situation. Juan seems angry at everyone...

I do think JM has one speed for witnesses against his case. I bet he's been this way in all of his cases.

I think it works, especially in contrast to the hours upon hours of Wilmott feeding her expert Laviolette Jodi's words for her to interpret into the conclusions the defense paid her for. Hours of interesting stories professorially presented about people who had nothing to do with this case. La, la-la, la-la .... Ya, da-ya, da-ya...

Then Bam! Juan starts in and the jury is shocked out of hypnosis and back into the trial and reality.

JM wants the witness to feel uncomfortable & off balance. Truth has a better chance to see the light of day. Laviolette wants a conversation like she has with her abusers -- she's in charge, nicely nicely, deep breaths, calm voices.

One thing JM does with his volume is manner is control the witness. Very important. You could see Laviolette attempting to control JM just shortly into his cross. She'll continue to do so, and it will not work. It will appear as if she dislike's the prosecutor. Maybe secretly thinks he is an abuser. Her credibility crumbles if that is the perception. Or she can answer his questions as posed and he'll impeach her testimony as baseless and sometimes even ludicrous.

Sometimes I think JM loses his way a bit, but he ends up getting back on track. On Laviolette, I loved the Snow White questions. Immediately made me scratch my head & question this woman's expert-ness.


I personally believe JM speaks with the voice and outrage of the family members of the victim. His tone & style are not unlike what Travis' sister might use on Jodi -- or that Travis himself might use if he were alive to defend himself.

It's my opinion that the jury is reminded of the victim & family every time JM crosses. And I think they're used to it by now. This is an adversarial process, and those aren't always pretty.

Sandy Arias had made an accusation about Juror 5 previously and she (SA) was questioned about it in chambers. Someone posted the minutes from that day earlier. I think it may have been Metis12 who posted them but I can't recall exactly

idk if mom arias said it was juror 5 last time, she made a general complaint that jurors were talking and all the jurors were interviewed

i am sure the are both getting sanctions for there actions on thursday, i hope that mit specialist had to watch from a feed next door, she already was sanctioned for passing notes for jodi

i don't think she would be gone, that would cause a mistrial, but the could report it to the licensing board which can cause her huge problems in the future
