From the blog where the guy talks about being stalked by someone like Jodi, I found this comment interesting.

If you want to understand what I mean by 'mirroring', just take a look at Jodi at trial compared to Jodi with Travis. Before the murder she had long flowing hair dyed brown or blonde depending on mood. Now that she's in trouble, she mirrors her physical appearance after her lawyer, complete with geeky glasses, bangs and shorter hair. Her clothing is much more conservative, almost old fashioned (the hair is definitely a 1980s throw-back). I know part of that is at the direction of the lawyer, they're trying to make her look less 'sexy' and provocative, and more demure, but it can't be a coincidence that Jodi has adopted so much of her lawyers physical appearance and many of her mannerisms. Watch how they both gesticulate and move their hands, it's eerie. There are times they almost look like they could be sisters.
If I were her lawyer, I'd be concerned. Jodi sees Jennifer Willmott as a strong capable woman, and believes if she emulates her style, she too will come off the same way in front of the jury. This is method acting at it's finest. Jodi may turn her stalking tendencies to this new target (Jennifer) because in her mind Jennifer is buying her story as well, and there's nothing a manipulator loves more than a new pawn in their never ending game.
Just as Jodi became adept at mirroring feelings she never really felt, she is now mirroring those attributes that she thinks will allow her to walk away from a death penalty.
I think he makes a very good point. Wilmott may very well become the next object of Jodi's obsession, if she isn't already.
Of course the other thing of note is how the writer tried to get help from police, restraining orders, etc. Only to be told there was really nothing they could do. I think the same could be said for Travis; if he had tried to keep her away, it wouldn't have worked. I mean, we know he did report one of the tire slashing to the police, or tried to (they have a record of the call, but no officer ever came out), but he probably figured the police nor the law were going to be able to do anything about it, until she got violent.
I think there was also a part of him that realized she was disturbed and he didn't want to add to that. By that I mean, pressing charges would've caused more issues, if they could even be made to stick, considering many people are reticent to believe a man could be the victim of a woman.

As far as the journals, the ones starting in may, has it been brought up that these strange and self serving writings were in a fairly new book? As for pages being torn out, were they at the end of another journal book she was keeping?
Oh I see. I didn't know the bedding was in the dryer. I guess I need to review the evidence a little better. I do think that she inadvertently put the camera in the washer though. Her response to the juror question about the camera in the washer was "I don't remember putting it in the washer. That's not something I would do" or something along those lines. I believe her narcissism is so great, that with that answer, she was really trying to impart to the jury that she would NOT have done something so stupid. Otherwise, why else add the part about "that's not something I would do" ?
I think what people think of her is of great importance to her, and she definitely does not want people thinking she could bundle her crime so badly.
If her seminar was indeed cancelled for today, That would be a sincere blow to her.
I wonder how this will be handled on Monday if she even shows. I'm sure JM would love to bring it up and why, yet it would be kind of low for him to do it. Any thoughts?![]()
I agree. Profilers often say that the killer always leaves a signature even it isn't always immediately identifiable. It may not be obvious, i.e, methodology of the murder, posing of the body, or taking an object from the victim, but it's always there. I think if a speech analyst were to study the journals, her normal writing patterns would be easily identified, and the incongruent passages would stick out like a sore thumb, thereby proving that the journals were doctored. In some way, I believe her "signature" is evident in those journals. And FYI, I am making assumptions, of which I have no scientific proof. lol
Maybe this world is another planet's hell
― Aldous Huxley
I will bet the same thing....they just want to see justice served. It must be so hard for them to listen as the defense attempts to slay his character a little bit more, each day.
ETA:
I wonder if that is the real reason for the cancellation of the seminar.....or if the judge simply told her that the court won't wait for a week until she is finished with her speaking engagement?
I think that "signature" is only used when it relates to profiling serial killers.

Of course the family won't want to do it, but it might be necessary in the future. Usually the suits are to gain compensation, but the underlying factor will be to have Jodi deprived of any monetary gain from interviews, movies or books. That's what the Goldmans did after the OJ Simpson case.
I believe Arizona has the Son of Sam laws in place, that prevent convicted murderers from profiting financially from their crimes. So if Jodi is convicted, she won't be able to profit from it.
I think the Goldman's filed suit mainly because OJ was acquitted, so they could get some kind of justice or public acknowledgement of his wrongdoing. Also, OJ had lots of money and Jodi doesn't.
However, if I were Travis' family, and if, god forbid, Jodi was acquitted or got anything less than life without parole, I would file a civil suit just to make sure than I ruined as much of her post prison life as possible. Perhaps I am too vengeful. (If she got death, or LWOP, I would skip the lawsuit.)

First, this is a forum, and the purpose of a forum is to "opine", yes? Also a place for people to express different points of view, not just The ONE AND ONLY point of view you share?
Second, you do not need a law degree to perceive how Martinez is presenting the evidence. The jurors are ordinary people without law degrees. If some of us see weaknesses in his presentation it is possible those same issues are having an impact on at least some of the jurors. I, for one, do not want to see Martinez blow this with his little rampages such as "YOU SAID SNOW WHITE WAS A BATTERED WOMAN, DIDN'T YOU? SHE LIVED IN A SHACK, RIGHT? AND COOKED AND CLEANED FOR THE DWARVES, RIGHT? YES OR NO?" being just the most recent example.
And no, that does not mean I belong on the JAII site or 'hate' Martinez. I want the same thing as everyone else on this thread. So, take your pom-poms to the Juan cheerleader thread if that's your thing. You'll be happier there, everyone agrees with you!
I haven't been on a jury in many many years...but when it comes time for deliberations do you think they will immediately take a vote or will they discuss the case first?
Exactly. Coconut likes to explore the defense strategy plus he makes us all laugh with his Katie DDJ journal entries. Speaking of journal entries I hope we see one from Justice11 soon.
I find these lines to be very self serving. Laying out why she hacked his accounts with a made up bullshit story of them exchanging passwords? Didn't she tell Martinez on cross that she couldn't record on her "stolen phone"?
Thanks Berm, excellent read.
In her interrogation with Flores she tells him she could make TA mad in about 5 minutes. It's the same thing she did on cross with Martinez and even in some of her responses to the jury questions. One thing both my ex and Jodi do is the mental gymnastics thing: when Jodi is talking to the prosecutor, she makes him repeat his questions and split hairs and does all she can to focus on every word and syntax. My ex would do that all the time when I questioned her about her behavior. Part of it seems to be a tool for distraction, the other part seems to be this inner glee at showing how stupid the other person is.
Have yet to see a Stabby supporter answer that and even Alyce didn't/couldn't/wouldn't explain why she drove 1000 miles to see him if she supposedly was a victim of domestic violence.Several people use the argument that if he was the victim of stalking, then he would be too afraid of her to hook up occasionally, never questioning that if Jodi claims to be so afraid of him, then why she still hooking up with him. Both scenarios are based on fear, yet they give Jodi a free pass for being fearful and still having sex with him, but they don't give him one for the same reason.
^That. Alyce can stick her "men are abusers and women are victims only" bullshit in her pipe and smoke it!
Dan Freeman called her to say something was "wrong" with TA and I believe it was either the Bishop or Brint Hiatt who told her TA was dead.I don't recall see any other journal entries with the exact time. The fact that she was so paranoid about her privacy and kept her sacred writings (to her) in a fire proof safe and was very careful to bring them up right away to Flores and mention that TA got a lot of ink in them was a revelation about her alibi process even then. She kills him on June 4 and then waits day by excruciating day for him to be discovered and then goes immediately into her "grieving widow" act. The fact that Mimi Hall was the one who was responsible for him being found must have given her immense pleasure.
UGH.I'm looking forward to the jury questions which seemed to have numbered at at 2 or 3 by the time Willmott finished her direct.
Imagine what went through her mind when Flores told her they had found the camera. It actually stuns her into silence.
She'll show Monday, she has no choice. It will be interesting to see if her attitude changes though. She gives how to be an expert witness titled on "Swimming with Sharks" but I don't think she realized there was a Great White Shark in Arizona![]()
I believe they first elect a foreman/woman? I was watching some interviews about the Phil Spector first jury and that is one of the things that caused a problem. They had been in deliberations for several days and the foreperson would not allow them to vote to see where they stood. It would seem logical to least cast votes in the beginning to see where there are difference, if there are any.
As for the raging debate on JM style, tone etc, I like it, I tend to either tune out or actually nap when Nurmi or JW is droning on and on but that never happens when he is asking questions. My bf on the other hand, loathes him, he swears he would have a hard time not voting against him, I have to keep reminding him this is not a for or against the attorneys. Has led to some heated discussions.
I want to wait until the Rebuttal and Closing before I wager a guess on that one. All juries do things differently, but it will be interesting to see how long they take and what type of evidence they request (if all evidence is not in Jury room). It's always fascinating when juries ask for readbacks of testimony. If they ask for JA's testimony read back in Court, IMO it means they are looking for inconsistencies. God help us all if they deliberate for a long time.
Note Jodi's reaction to Detective Flores accuses her of not acting "right" -- you can see Arias reaching/begging for him to tell her how to act emotionally because she does not have those feelings.I begin to get the feeling like she didn't know emotions on her own. It was like she was an anthropologist and had to dig for clues to emotions, and then she did her best to mirror them.
JA: How so?
JA: How did I act that would make you think that?
JA: Is it because I'm not crying? What is it?
JA: How is it different?
Do we know who is on the rebuttal list?
I agree. Martinez did more the last half hour of the week, than the DT did the rest of it.
There is a new thread, for Juan Martinez lovers.

Maybe it's more like his only approach. For me, a strategy is something you plan and vary to suit the situation. Juan seems angry at everyone, probably even his exterminator & dog groomer. Did The Prosecutor ASK for croutons on his salad?!!?
We all share our thoughts & ideas and I find it a lot of fun to explore the case. I can see how some of my ideas might not be popular - especially if you mistake criticism of The Prosecutor for supporting Jodi's innocence. The Prosecutor has a lot to work with, they usually only bring winnable cases to trial and this one should be easy. The defense team is in a much tighter spot, so I can appreciate their creativity and desperate manuevers, if only for the sport of it.
If you are such a big Juan Martinez fan, why not prove it by writing some sexy JM fantasy? http://mydeathspace.com/vb/showthrea...15-Fan-Fiction
Me too - the emotion overshadows the words. I have a hard time following his arguments, and understanding his points... I just feel nervous and on edge when he talks. It's painful.
This might have been part of their strategy form the start. To extend the trial and make into a massive clusterfuck of lies and confusion. The tension is building in the courtroom and we are seeing mistakes & misconduct from both sides of the case, and the jury. If that juror poisoned the jury pool, we could be looking at a mistrial.
I was trying to find out if today's engagement was cancelled and found this article, seems very true of expert witness LV.

Have the rest of the journals, aside from May 22nd and after death, been posted anywhere??

These guys said they were going to post them. It was ABC that originally them so you could try them?

You are absolutely correct on all the things you attribute to Jodi Arias. As to the laundry issue! There were two loads done that afternoon. The first was the bedding that Travis put through the washing machine and into the dryer. It's reasonable to conclude that Travis and Jodi Arias spent time downstairs and in his office, as Jodi described, while the bedding was being washed. When the wash cycle was complete, Travis must have put the bedding into the dryer and then went back upstairs. At that point, the washing machine was empty and the bedding was in the dryer. Shortly thereafter Travis got into the shower and Arias murdered him. After murdering Travis, Jodi Arias made an effort to clean up the scene. Probably, the final part of that effort was to gather up clothing, (including her own socks), towels, Travis's underwear, shorts, etc. (see the exhibits brought into evidence during the direct of the crime scene technician). She probably did this in an effort to eliminate any trace of herself, (DNA?) on items she may have used or touched. (She also claims that she was in her 'fog' at that time so, of course, she couldn't recall doing any of this.) Remember, she had earlier taken a shower after sex and must have used a towel to dry herself off and would have been worried about DNA.) Anyways, on her way out, she loaded the towel and the other miscellaneous laundry items into the washing machine. The camera was either accidentally caught up in the bundle of laundry or else Jodi deliberately placed it into the machine in a further attempt to destroy any trace of her presence. She doused the items heavily with bleach and turned the washing machine on. Then she left.
When Travis was finally found four days later (June 9?), that's how things were found. Dryer full of bedding; washing machine filled with other bleached out laundry and the fateful camera.
There was some confusion because one of the roommates first stated that he had done a load of laundry between June 4/5 and June 9, when Travis was found. It turned out that his memory on that particular issue was faulty and it was cleared up. I think it turned out that he had actually done his laundry the day before Travis was killed.
Details! Details! I'm pretty sure I have the sequence right. It's all on the trial videos but, like most details, it takes a bit of time to find them--probably longer than this post.
I get a bit of a chuckle, (is that appropriate?) when I think of Travis throwing Jodi Arias out of his bed so that he can wash her and the KY Jelly off the sheets. Does not speak volumes about the romantic atmosphere in the bedroom. Then again, I don't know why Travis stopped at just throwing her out of his bed. He should have kept going and thrown her out the window.
