Dan Freeman just called me. I was excited to hear from him. I immediately began to say how I might be making a trip out there soon and he softly responded w/ yes, I think you're going to have to make a trip out here soon. Then he told me. It was about Travis. But he couldn't really tell me anything. He just said something was wrong. I don't know what's going on and I need some answers. I'm praying that there has been a mistake. I tried calling his phone. Nothing for the first time I've called, his voice mail box was full. For some reason Disneyland keeps flashing in my mind. At night. Maybe because that's the last time we were there. I called Brint Hiatt's number over & over. Nothing. I'm going crazy and I feel so helpless being all the way here in CA.

This is horrendous. The most awful thing I've ever had to deal with. I am in total shock right now. It hasn't fully hit me. This can't really be real. This just can't be happening. I spoke w/ Bishop Layton. He confirmed that Travis is dead. What happened?!? Travis, what is this?....
I cut the entry for length. You know what's so weird about this entry is that it sounds like she's trying too hard to sound like someone who is grieving. She's saying all the right things, but for a gal who writes in such depth in previous entries, these seem shallow and half-formed. I can practically feel her thinking, "This is what I have to write in case anyone looks towards me".

Or maybe it's just because I hate her so much that I think these entries seem so insincere.

She must have been frantically trying to think of what to do since she had lost the camera. I'm certain that she didn't mean to put it in the washer without at least taking the memory card.

Also, I think that getting to the point of killing Travis took longer than she was expecting. My own guess is she showed up early in the morning in the hopes that she could get him into the shower by midmorning, kill him, and be on her way. Instead, she had to spend most of the day with him before she could get him into the shower. I think the sex was her idea, and her way to get him to go freaking take a shower so she could finish him.

What was not mentioned in court Thursday was the history of the e-mails. A defense filing from January 2011 details the efforts of Arias’ attorneys to obtain them. Initially the prosecution told the defense attorneys that there were no available text messages sent or received by Alexander and then was ordered to turn over several hundred.

Furthermore, according to the filing, the case agent, Mesa Police Detective Esteban Flores, told the defense attorneys that there was nothing “out of the ordinary” among Alexander’s e-mails; about 8,000 were turned over to the defense in June 2010, including the Hughes e-mails.

I would agree with Morbidly Lovely's reference to JM's performance akin to a banty rooster, and I'll add with a Napoleon Complex. He's been given low marks on his courtroom, "performance's," by both prosecutor's and defense attorneys alike.

As an example of a solid presentation based solely on facts would be Sheila Polk, AZ prosecutor, James Arthur Ray case.

Can you imagine what must have been going through her mind? It makes my skin crawl thinking that she layed there with him in his bed and made love to him - the most physical act between two people - knowing she was going to kill him. God that's just evil. Poor Travis.

Here's a blog post I read this morning. Actually gave me chills reading it. It's from a guy's point of view about the Jodi case.....and his own experience with an ex that was just like Jodi.

You confuse the hell out of me, for sure. First, you say that people will believe what they want, and you don't waste your time convincing. Then, in the next breath, you state that no one will misconstrue or distort you viewpoints...if they do, you will correct them over and over until they understand? A bit contradictory? You can't force people to see sense in your nonsense.

Excellent points! I really never thought about her trying to get him in the early morning hours while showering, but it sure seems plausible.

I think she accidentally threw the camera in the washer while frantically trying to clean the crime scene. I think she turned the room upside down looking for it and then realized she inadvertently put it in the washer along with the bedding.

Once she realized that the camera was in the washer, she probably figured the washer would ruin the camera anyway and didnt bother to fish it out of the washer. Plus she thought deleting the pictures would eliminate evidence of her being there.

Not that it makes much of a difference, but the bedding was in the dryer. It seems that Travis washed it and loaded the dryer while he was downstairs with Jodi. That's probably when they did the nasty in Travis's downstairs office--waiting for the wash cycle to finish. The stuff in the washing machine was clothing, a towel, etc. and, of course, the camera--with lots of bleach. That's the stuff Jodi loaded into the washer before she skedaddled. It included the camera that probably got mixed up with the clothing in the rush to gather up the mess in the bedroom.

You can see the crime-scene tech describing it and entering it all into evidence near the beginning of the prosecution case.

Jodi Arias probably got really annoyed when Travis told her to get her butt out of his bed 'cause he wanted to wash the sheets. And..he probably told her "thanks for the fun now it's probably time for you to get on up to Salt Lake City." That would not have pleased her a bit.

Has everyone forgotten the very constructive suggestion someone made many, many pages ago.

"It is a good idea to avoid the use of the second person pronoun in your posts." A very good way to ensure that the focus remains on the subject and not the individual! It also guards against the possibility of what you see below in bold type.

Why would she have to clarify whose friendship she was talking about when SHE was the one who wrote it, so she would know who she was talking about.

It just sounds... I dunno... off?
Then again what comes out of her mouth that doesn't sound off in some way or another?

Now that I think back, I remember JM bringing up to Jodi some points about the handwriting changes and her post scattered all over the place. Leads me to think he was trying to bring up the fact that maybe some of these diary entries were made after Travis was killed.
I agree, it seems very, very fake. There was talk during the trial about pages of the diary that were torn out. Defense was trying to say that Travis made her tear out pages of her diary because they were "negative". I now suspect that she tore them out herself and rewrote them to cover her ass after killing him. I hope the jurors get to see these.

I reckon you're spot on with that Ian, as always.

I've always thought she figured she would get to go to Cancun with Travis and went there with that in mind, perhaps try to work her way around him with the sex and then he said what you just suggested and that flicked the switch.

I never understood how Travis even had access to her diaries. It doesnt sound like he ever visited her in CA, and they were not officially dating by the time she moved to AZ. She either brought them with her on their trips or to his house with the intention of him "finding" them. Maybe she put them in the bag with the KY jelly....lol! I hope she gets to wash her oily hair over the weekend. Jen should buy her some of that waterless shampoo or something. Maybe that is just part of the demure abused librarian look they are going for. I gotta give Jen and Nurmi credit where credit is due, they nailed the "look" for Jodie. I don't think Hollywood could have done better.

This is as phoney as her pre-murder diary entries (May 22nd). She never mentions who actually told her that Travis was murdered, yet she will tell who is all at her brother's birthday party. This chick is so transparent and it's her own writings that speak volumes of her guilt. She's giving a road map of alibis. She feels so far away and alone in California really means "hey cops...I wasn't there".

As far as Juan's demeanor goes, I think we should cut him some slack. He spent all day listening to Alyce's crap and probably getting as worked up as we were. He did not start out with an elevated voice, but it didn't take Alyce long to make a snarky comment. I'm sure he was tired and disgusted and then she pulls that. That would have put me in an instant pissed-off mood, too. I believe we'll see a different approach Monday morning. Let's hope Alyce doesn't challenge him right off the bat like the snarky old man-hater she seemed to be on Thurs.

I have read that she took her journals with her everywhere, that it was always in her bag so "IF" you believe her story then he could have taken them from her bag, backpack, w/e at any time.

And Juan has seen the same thing before.

Wendi Andriano. Before she was blonde and pretty. In court she turned into a librarian type with brown hair and glasses.

Call me the eternal optimist, but I do think this jury will get it right. I hope I don't eat my words. Arizona is not shy about the death penalty. Andriano's jury came back with a guilty lst degree in 2-1/2 hours. Very rarely does the self-defense plea work, especially if there's zero evidence. And yes, Jodi looks like a drowned rat....I kind of miss the cold sore thing because it just finished the whole look.

If you can believe her, she testified that she carried her journals with her wherever she went. No doubt the little manipulator left things out in plain site for the right person to read.

Holy CRAP, Berm! Thanks for posting this! The comments were really something too! The writer makes this comment (in the comment section) which is what I think Travis was exactly doing.
"I'm sure Travis knew about it. He may not been in denial about the severity of his situation, but he certainly knew she was capable. I remember off-handedly saying similar things to my friends, half-jokingly. It was a way to communicate my fear without really owning it, because owning it was too much to consider."

Yep. And all her diary entries sound just lacking in the appropriate emotion and response. I really wonder why Jodi ever bothered to keep a diary. I don't and never have, so I can't really speak to the reasons 100%; but I would think that the reason people do write in a diary is to let out deep, emotional feelings. Jodi seems to use hers as a way to remember things, that she can look back on, in detail. I find it rather odd.

I forgot to mention, thanks for the new pictures yesterday, and the emails of course!

I'm sure she re-wrote that diary. She did all the premeditation things and she did other things to try and cover her tracks. There's no way she didn't re-write it all and add lies to slander Travis.

The bolded is not true and it's wrong for the reporter to put it that way. The prosecution never said there were no texts from Travis' phone, it was just that they didn't have the technology at the time to retrieve them. The reporter makes it sound like Martinez lied; he didn't.

Yep. At that point, it was closing in on Travis' conference call. I want to say that it was at 6 or 7pm, and since he wasn't getting in the shower until 5:30, no doubt he was anxious to get Jodi out the door. Personally, I do believe that he likely thought she was gone when he went to take his shower. He walked her downstairs, they had a snack, he checked some things on his computer and put in a load of laundry. He was showing her the door and going back upstairs to prepare for his meeting. I don't believe for a second that he wanted her hanging around when he was on an important conference call.

I think she rewrote the journals after the killing. I think she bought new blank journals and copied most of the old entries plus added some new ones and new details. Because some of the entries and details are just strange, even for someone as odd as Jodi. You don't need to remind yourself of stuff you know well in your own diary. And she had a month between the murder and arrest to do the rewrite.

I also find her directing the police to make sure they have all her diaries very bizarre. She was very protective of those diaries, so her wanting to make sure the police got all of them makes no sense unless there was evidence in them she manufactured that she thought would get her off the hook.

Travis, what is this?

A question.... did Jodi ever note exact times in her diary before?? I notice she did on the day she was "informed" of Travis' death. That also seemed weird to me, so I am wondering if she had done it before? Are there other diary entries where she tells exact times, or write multiple times in a single day?

Thanks, Berm, for transcribing these and posting them.

I highly doubt the family will file wrongful death suit. I would think the last thing they want is to go through this b.s. again. Stabby has no assets, and I think TA's family will be elated if she is convicted and sentenced to death. Certainly hope the jury thinks about all of this TA bashing when considering verdict and sentence.
