I agree. It would seem that she's probably just got nervous jitters because she knows she's going to be torn apart on cross by JM. I'm surprised no one even inquired as to what was bothering her...just shut the court down for the rest of the pm. I'm not privy to Judge Stephens' behavior in other trials, so I don't know if she's as lax in them as she is in this trial. There are days when there's only about 2 hours of testimony. A typical court day is 8 hours with breaks...unbelievable.

yes i do not understand why they didn't clear the judges calendar for this rather than make her have so many cases b4 and after jodi - i have never seen any thing like this b4!

Instead I checked out bermstalker's timeline.

The timeline helped shape my understanding of their relationship. Travis never really stopped dating or seeing other women, I don't think they ever really were a comitted couple in his mind. Jodi might have wanted that but was seeing other people and looking for opportunities with other men.

What if her motivation for the killing was recognition? What if she wanted everyone (the Mormons, Travis's other girls, Prepaid Legal people, The Hughes) to know that she really was his girlfriend? The "long email" from May 16, 2008 lays out her motive for the killing.




Now the trip to Cancun with The Hugheses. Travis can't take her, I think mainly because The Hugheses will hold it against him which would harm his professional life (already suffering) and social life in the church. Yes, Jodi is jealous of Mimi, but she has tolerated other women in the past. She was not violent to Mimi or Lisa, her violence was directed at Travis. By killing him, she vented her rage at never being recognized as his girlfriend. By killing him, she showed everyone that she possessed him and now he must admit that she was/is his girlfriend.

She has gotten her wish. Now it's all over the news that Travis's "girlfriend" or "ex-girlfriend" killed him. It's a shorter headline than overly attached psycho fuckbuddy.

i think she is totally controlled by jodi, i think it was an abusive relatinship - but that jodi abuses her mom, i am sure it is easier to do what jodi says than to try to reason or argue w/ her - my sister is the same way, and every one walks on egg shells and she ends up getting everything she wants

I was so bored watching I had walked away for a few mins when all of this went down, though i heard the judge call for a 5 min. recess. You mean she never spoke with ALV to inquire what was wrong, how she felt??? She seemed fine to me, all morning, then suddenly JW approaches to inform the judge her witness is ill? How the hell did she know???

The reviews on her book have taken a nosedive lately. 84 ratings of one star and the hate is flowing like hot molten Lava! The Amazon comments looks like a good place to vent your rage. The jurors are probably feeling the same way right now. She could be on the stand for more than another week.

I have never had harsh feeling towards Jodi's mother or the rest of her family. It makes me angry when people make fun of them, actually. They never killed anyone. Nobody know what makes a psychopath, people with perfectly normal childhoods grow up to be psychopaths. I don't think her family is at fault in any way.

People complain about her behavior in court. Someone else who met her described her as "dim". I think she probably is not the brightest bulb and probably does not realize how her behavior in court is being perceived. She's in court every day for hours, I guess she and her sister probably share a joke sometimes, oh well. I don't think they are horrible people. Being slightly dumb does not mean you're an awful person.

As a parent, I can't even imagine how awful this must be for her family. I harbor them no ill will.

Agreed. I'm not a parent, but it would be my worst nightmare. Honestly, I think it would be worse than losing a child. The derisive comments towards them are pathetic, but people are sheep when it comes to stuff like that. Very barbaric and it illustrates why we have a justice system because if it was up to this lot, they would have every living relative of Jodi's put to death just for being related.

No. Actually said that I didn't read it- and that I encouraged people not to buy it as she was unable to identify a truly abused person (Travis) and his abuser (Jodi) for money.

IMO there are two reasons JA is still seeing the light of day and wearing (albeit ugly) civilian clothing:

(1) the lady cop during the interrogation basically told JA to make something up if she wanted to save her reputation. So Jodi did just that. You could see her wheels spinning after the cop went on and on like a godamned hypnotist saying "what are you going to do jodi?" That cop should be the one suffering in the courtroom instead of Flores while this shit show is allowed to go on; and

(2) the judge's unwillingness to call Willmott out on her legal incompetence and tell her to sit the fuck down already instead of letting her reiterate her entire opening statement through so-called expert witnesses.
