I think the other thing that draws us in to these trials is trying to rationalize the fact that one human can do this to another. And then there is the aspect of looking at something so menacing and scary head-on. It kinda reminds me of the exhibit by the artist Damien Hirst called The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living. One of the pieces was this huge tiger shark in a clear glass case with it mouth opened as if it were going to eat you. It was death up close and personal but without the risk. Such is the case of our interest here. We can be horrified, shocked, and appalled by this crime. We can look death right in her silly face and to an extent laugh at her, but at a safe distance.
For me, the gruesomeness of the crime caught my attention. But what got me hooked was her lying capability. You have to admit, she lies as easily as she breathes. People like that scare the bejeesus out of me. I have to keep watching this nightmare until she eats her damn words "No jury will ever convict me."

She'd be on her way....and she'd ride off into her own little fog of a sunset. But, real life happened, instead. Travis fought back.....and he fought hard. He bled all over the place. Evidence went flying. I think she started to clean up, and realized that it was fruitless. And I'm sure she was panicking, because the longer she was in that house, the more chance that she'd get caught. And Doc Dick also said she would have never have left the "evidence" of the camera behind. Well, he forgot that she deleted those pictures.....she thought they were gone.
I know, right? It's absurd to assume that just because she was half assed about the clean up that it was anything but a half assed clean up! She's not a professional hit man! Good grief! Most murderers are caught because they leave stuff behind. To expect Jodi to have done a better clean up is ridiculous! It's laughable!!

This is what I think. She started to plan it when she left. There was something in the house that she had to get that would make her look bad,In the meantime she planned her defense if she got caught.Any little thing that Travis said to make him look bad.Picked up on the Pedo thing cause that is the rage for divorce or abuse.Know many men who went threw it.lawyers love it.So she gets back in the house and stalls till she find the things that will hurt her new life.Once she has them she kills the only person who knows.

I bet they were, she's great at deceitful diversions and knew she could be picked up at any moment. She has people looking at kitchen knives! I don't fool myself for one minute she wasn't already trying to fit what knife she used if arrested for one of her back up stories. Just because SHE suggested a kitchen knife, she actually has how manyt go right with her made up kitchen knife like she isn't a habitual liar. She was no stranger to specialty knives. She was running around slashing tires with what HAD to be a hunting knife as no kitchen knife would work well. Kitchen knives have generally weak handles. You could push one into a tire, but you'd have one HECK of a time pulling it out of the tire without breaking the handle off. And she had to slash and dash with those tires. This means she had to have been using a hunting knife like the ones Brillig posted above.
She wouldn't need to take a kitchen knife from Travis' house. She had her own knives that she had already been using. No, I'd bet my house that she brought one of her hunting knives with her. It's just as easy to hide a knife in your clothing as it is a gun.

However, I think it is more likely that she brought a knife with her, either a hunting/Bowie type knife with a crossguard between the blade and handle, or a knuckle knife with finger holes in the handle. I think a hunting/Bowie knife is most likely, since they are easy to obtain.

The reason I think this is because I find it unlikely that she could have stabbed Travis 28 times and slit his throat that deeply using a kitchen knife without her hand ever slipping off the blade and cutting her own hand. Especially once the knife was slicked up with blood (which it clearly had to be at some point). Yet all Stabby had were a couple very tiny cuts on one hand that were coverable by a regular bandaid. I don't think this would be possible unless there was something to prevent her hand from slipping off the handle and onto the blade while she was stabbing.

Kitchen knives, even big ones, are not designed for stabbing.

First two are out, no hilt marks or bruising from them found in the autopsy. Guessing I'd say for her sociopathic thrills, and her frequent references to symbolisms, she used the same one as she did for slashing his tires.

I have wondered if Travis didn't have something that maybe would incriminate her. I've always assumed that there was something financial (like she had money to pay him for stuff, or he gave her something and she sold it and then lied to him about what happened to it), or maybe he simply knew too much about her.

Yesterday I had been wondering about her motive, and really, it all comes down to control. By the text messages that the defense team has used to paint Travis as some evil bastard (who the hell hasn't said mean, horrible things to someone during a fight?), it's clear that Travis is attempting to break free from Jodi. She obviously can't have that. I don't even think it had to do with other women. I think the fact that Travis was getting to the point where he didn't want ANY contact with her, was unacceptable to her. She could always use sex, and maybe her sob story to get him to do things she wanted, but if he really began to assert himself, she might lose that control. She couldn't have that; she has to be in control of everything, at all times.

She is so terrifying!! I'm freaking myself out by talking about it too much! -thinks of happy things-

    Or these-

Any of these are strong enough to slash a tire pretty quickly.

But were any of the wounds even deep enough that there would be a hilt mark? You would have to stab to the full length of the blade to make a hilt mark or bruise. If not, those two knives are still possibilities.

I agree that Jodi Arias would not be bothered ONE BIT by having a photo of his tortured body on her wall. She is EMPTY. EMPTY. HOLLOW. A SHELL masquerading as a human being that has emotions and empathy that she tries her best to copy from people around her, but she fails miserably. It's really scarey how many of her type walk among us, we just don't always realize they are so empty because they might be better at imitating the rest of us emotion wise. Someone posted that she is no different than the boyfriend or husband that brutally kills the girlfriend/wife because she wants to leave him, the "if I can't have you no one else can" mentality...I agree THIS IS JODI. There is NO LOVE for the victim in these situations, they are incapable of actually loving ANYONE. Could any of us imagine hurting someone we LOVE like what she did to Travis? NO WAY!! The rest of us feel the pain of the ones we love, we care for them, we honor them, we look out for them, we try to bring them happiness, etc. Jodi? Look at how she treated the "man she loved" even in the months before she murdered him, harassing him, embarrassing him, THEN brutally murdering him, now calling him an abuser and a paedofile. She would probably like the idea of being able to see an autopsy photo of him in her cell. To remind her that she beat him, she won, no one leaves Jodi.
I cannot wait until the GUILTY OF 1ST DEGREE MURDER verdict is read and she gets Life In Prison. Just keep her the hell away from the rest of us forever.

I don't think we'll ever witness a trial like this again...it's one for the history books. On the one hand, I'm officially addicted and will miss conversing with all the peeps here. On the other hand, I feel like my life has fallen apart since I started watching on Jan. 2! Like a bad car wreck, I just can't look away.

Sorry if this been expressed by someone else, but my personal speculation/theory is that perhaps Jodi revealed to him that she had recorded their sexy time phone call and was taunting him with the threat of playing it (either for the bishop, Mimi, or the entire Mormon congregation). This would certainly explain the level of deception, hurt and betrayal ('scammed') that he expressed in those text messages. I personally don't think Travis knew anything about her recording at the time she did it; however, I do suspect she let him in on her little secret after the fact. I'm also of the opinion that those infamous shower pics were done totally stealth/creeper style. I'm under the impression that he thought Jodi had left, went upstairs to take his shower, and didn't realize she had returned until the flash went off and he looked directly at the camera in the full-face shot. Those are THE shittiest "posed" pictures I've ever seen, and look more to me like a dude just taking a shower. I think she had the same scheme with the pictures as she did with the phone call; to hold them over his head and use them as a blackmail tool to keep him "in line."

I could be way off on this, and I'm fairly certain no one will ever know, except Jodi herself.

I strongly suspect Jodi is going to take the details of what REALLY happened that fateful day to her own grave, regardless of the verdict. I think she enjoys having those last memories of Travis all to herself and secondarily feels he'll be hers forever.

I was thinking the same thing just yesterday. Part of me can hardly wait for it all to be over, and part of me will miss all the interesting discussions and debates and humor and bonding I have found here over a subject we all feel pretty passionate about.

I can't seem to look away either, but at least now I am looking at this bad car wreck with my MDS peeps instead of looking at it all alone.

What an amazing day in court -3/21. Dr. Samuels mentions that Jodi came out of her fog at the Hoover Dam checkpoint. She also realized at this time that she was "covered in blood". The Hoover Dam checkpoint is just that....a checkpoint where patrol officers are in play. Wouldn't these patrol officers have noticed that SHE was "covered in blood." And contacted the authorities ?

  18. #49943
He means right before the Hoover Damn checkpoint. That's where Jodi said she stopped and threw the gun.. and went to the trunk and got water to wash up... and got shoes & socks... (I think where she found her cellphone charger too). Yup she came to an amazing extrication from the fog right before there was going to be eyes to see. She says that she didn't know about the checkpoint at the time tho.

Saw one of the talking heads on HLN After Dark saying that it didn't make sense for Jodi to bring the knife if she already had the gun. Well, Jodi claims she never fired a gun. If she wasn't familiar, especially with using/firing, re-loading, or what happened if it jammed (something 25's are apparently prone to do); much less what kind of damage could be done with such a small gun, of course she would have a back-up.

I didn't catch much, but I hope one of their HLN "jury" brought up the fact that when Jodi was apprehended, she was attempting to flee her grandma's house with a gun and 2 KNIVES in her suitcase.
No gun, only ammo. I wonder where she was going? Def not on a suicide trip that's for sure, she had the car all packed up with clothes, personal belongings, weapons, etc. I've moved dozens of times and never once did I stash 2 knives in a box of books in my car, ever, even on very very long trips round Australia.

Ok, i thought Samuels said AT the Hoover Dam Checkpoint. Even if it was ...right before the Hoover Dam checkpoint, how was she able to clean herself up so completely as to not arouse suspicion? She was "covered in blood" according to her ...

Is there desert sands right before the Hoover Dam checkpoint ? How much water and clean clothes did she have in order to appear normal before this checkpoint ? Hmmmmm

But I don't believe that she didn't know. Even me, who has never been to Vegas, or SLC knows there are border checkpoints at every state. Whether they are manned or not is another story. The one on the 10 from LA to Phoenix is manned sometimes and I've been through it when one side is not manned. I have also been down past Tuscon and seen border checkpoints. I do not for one second knowing that she came from No. Cali, think that she DIDN'T know about that checkpoint.

    RIP Travis

Im SO with you about the sex tape. I've been screaming it to everyone I know - Travis didn't have a clue he was being recorded! It was her Ace-in-the-hole, her extortion tape.. If Travis had asked for it to be recorded wouldn't it be natural to say at some point "Did you get it?" Why he agreed to see her June 4 after freaking out at her and blowing off a planned trip to Yreka (and we know the meeting was planned by the 3 calls June 2 before she left) probably had something to do with a threat over the tape. And why would she arrive with 2 cd's of their vacations pics she'd promised him if she hadn't planned to go there?? And maybe it wasn't vacation pics, it was the sex tape and she had him hostage "one last time then I'll go away then you can be with Mimi and I'll let you go".

I thought the same thing too, about the pictures being taken without his knowledge, until it was pointed out that all these pictures were taken with the shower door open. They are shitty pictures and his poses are not Calvin Klein worthy. That leaves me with the opinion that he thought she left and he went to shower. She shows back up with the gun and forces him to pose at gunpoint. She may have been threatening him or making threats to kill herself. He's playing along with her, trying to keep her calm and hoping she will come to her senses and put the gun away. She makes him sit in the shower at gunpoint. She attempts to shoot him and doesn't have a bullet loaded into the chamber, so the gun doesn't go off. She then switches to plan B with the knife. After she drags him back to the shower, she points the gun at him and pulls the trigger and now the gun fires.

I think she had been obsessing about vengeance for several weeks. Her anger and bitterness had been building. She had been watching spooky music videos by Dido and Alanis Morissette. That 2nd Dido video is disturbing, especially the part where the man's spirit gets exhaled and absorbed by the singer and he turns into her. I just feel like she was having magical thinking about owning his soul. She was an obsessive stalker.

I wonder if Dr Dick gave any consideration to obsessive stalker? If he read all the reports like he said, he would have seen several references to people calling her stalker. Do muderous stalkers suffer ptsd?

There was a gun. It was found by the car rental place when they serviced the car. She had hidden it somewhere in the car.

The one on the 10 from LA to Phoenix is manned sometimes and I've been through it when one side is not manned. I have also been down past Tuscon and seen border checkpoints. I do not for one second knowing that she came from No. Cali, think that she DIDN'T know about that checkpoint.

Any time that Ihave been through that checkpoint, it has always had patrol officers, especially after Sept. 11, 2001. Day or night.
