I agree with you....her "fog" conveniently blocks out the things that are most likely to convince the jury of the level of brutality of this crime. She is claiming to own experiences which are not hers to own....she hasn't fought the battle to EARN them. Victim of domestic violence, abused partner, abused child, victim of PTSD, etc. etc. What she CAN claim is that she is a cold-blooded murderer. That is the only "label" that she has earned and, in my opinion, is entitled to. Her "dx" is a joke. WTF cares? She did it, and she is still trying to blame it on everyone else, mostly the victim.
Sorry for the rant, but I've heard one too many times about Jodi's fog, and I felt the need to explain that it simply does not work that way. And the whole "repressed memory" thing, the way it's been portrayed in the media, has largely been debunked with many experts in the field doubting that it even exists.

I have a teeny quibble with the idea that a traumatic situation can't be blocked out...Ok, it's more than a quibble, it's actually happened to me.

Back when I was in this abusive relationship, I finally, finally got up enough nerve to call the relationship off. When I did that, my ex's family called me at all days and hours, demanding to know what I'd done to their poor boy to upset him so much. I got the lecture from them on what a 'good' girlfriend is like, etc. And then he started coming over to the house. The fights kept escalating and escalating, and then...

I don't know. I'm missing like two days of my life. My best friend has told me that there was a serious altercation, and I managed to get him out of the house and I called her in hysterics about it. She came over, wanted to call the cops, but my ex finally left, so she didn't. She said it took her almost an hour to convince me to open the door and to let her in, because I was so terrified he was still on the property.

I don't remember a bit of that. I don't know what happened to those days, nor do I understand why I can't bring those memories back. As far as I can tell, there was nothing that happened that was nearly so horrible as what he'd done to me in the past, but I don't know. I really can't remember, and it frightens me that those memories seem to be totally gone.

So I do believe that people can block things out. I just don't believe that the thing blocked her memories, simply because she's lied about everything else, and her memory loss is totally self-serving.

No, I didn't kill anyone. But if I had, I would certainly remember, as I would be the one holding the knife and making it do what it is doing. Her story is hogwash. The human brain and memory banks simply don't operate that way. Unless her brain, itself, underwent a physical injury......her memory would slowly come back, crystal clear. Especially almost 5 yrs after the fact. Yet, she claims to have TOTAL block out of the entire knife and stabbing episode? A psychologist would know that.

I actually went through a traumatizing "fog", when I quite unexpectedly discovered the deceased (and hanging) body of my beloved husband, back in the 90's. To this day, the slightest thing can trigger a flashback....so strong is the image imprinted in my memory banks. I can tell you that you do NOT forget large chunks of time. I can still tell you what color of shirt he had on, how his feet were pointing downward. I can tell you that the brain does shut off, and go into self-preservation mode. For instance, I recall events beings almost eerily in slow motion as I realized what my eyes were actually seeing. My brain and eyes fought for a second, and the thought process was "Oh, HERE you are, Steve! No....wait.....something is.....not......right.............(this is where my brain spits out the computation of "he is too tall....why is he so tall..." Then shock sets in. In slow motion effect, I run up into the house, screeching.....and fumble with the phone to dial 911. Then I collapse into a shaking and traumatized mess. And I stay that way for a long long long time. The only fog or blurred spot I have, still, is that the rope and his neck area are just a blurry image in my mind. THAT is how it feels. It continued for months...that blessed fog. But it's not so thick that you don't know what is happening. Everything just seems.....slow. Maybe it's because truly traumatized people are simply focusing on figuring out how they can will their lungs to draw in the next breath. How they can stay upright and breathing for the next hour. Two hours. Three hours.
I am tired of the armchair "psychologists" who are buying her crap about the "fog"......
Stop trying to justify why Jodi did it. That detracts from the fact that she DID do it.

I think that it is a defense mechanism your body triggers to protect you at that moment. I have no doubt that Jodi murdered Travis and I even think that she may not remember every detail, but I also think she remembers more than she is admitting to and what she does remember she is trying to spin in her favor. IMO

And didn't she say at some point she "remembers" certain things when she looked at certain pictures? I thought that is what I heard her say. Evidently only things that were convenient to heh "comport" with the evidence story...

My husband explains that it's all about safety. He said if you put gas in the blue- you may forget and one day accidentally use it. That's bad.
It's especially bad/dangerous for people that have kerosene heaters. It's a bad thing to pour gas in a kerosene heater.
I guess it a man's pet peeve.


My husband has one red gas can that is filled with gas and oil. He has it marked very clear. Well, I didn't know it was bad to use that gas/oil mixture. I guess it a special blend for our weed eater and chain saw. It's not so good to pour it into a riding mower where it's not suppose to be....or at least from my husband's cussing when he was draining the tank- that's what I assume.

I did not know the difference between a red, blue or yellow can either, when I went into walmart to get one, they asked me if it was specifically for gas, because it is illegal to put gas in the other colors. I guess that doesn't mean they would ask everyone but it makes me wonder.

Very random thoughts....
1. I absolutely despise hearing her say that Travis "passed away." No bitch he was
BRUTALLY MURDERED by you. Stop acting like he passed away from natural causes.
2. Travis did not know he was going to die on June 4, 2008. If there were a stack of pedo
pics they would have been found in his house.
3. I think it is absurd that she claims it took her 8 months to read the Book of Mormon.
When you take the lessons from the missionaries prior to being baptized you would be
expected to read the Book of Mormon before baptism. It is not a huge book. I am sure
she had read it so that she could discuss it with Travis and prove to him how devoted she
was. She is saying she hadn't read it now so that she can say she didn't know that sex
off limits. What a joke!
4. I think it is odd that some people believe that meeting Ryan Burns was anything but an
alibi for this murder. She would have loved to canceled this trip but damnit she needed
a reason to be out of Yreka. They only attended a small portion of one of the PPL meeting
and her total time with Ryan was so minimal! Being so delayed arriving and then leaving
in the predawn hours.
5. I have to admit that although it took Jen and Nurmi a long time to find the perfect pair of
eyeglasses for her....they struck gold! These glasses make her nose look huge and they
almost flash a subliminal message that says "battered librarian!" Does anyone else notice
that when she takes them off to read (lol) you can see a little glimpse of the old Jodi?

Exactly! In her frenzied state, there may indeed be moments of fog. But that fog would not be one of such that she recalls everything up until she shot him (totally forgets the stabbing) and then recalls every other detail when she "comes to" in the desert.
