It doesn't matter to me, as long as she's found guilty.

I'm of the opinion that members of his family and close friends of Travis are really the only ones who should want her to be put to death.

At the same time, I think those opposed to the death penalty shouldn't judge them for wanting this for her (not saying anyone here IS). Unless you've walked in their shoes and had a family member murdered in such a brutal fashion, you can't possibly understand what they're feeling.

I respect everyone's opinion as this is a pretty serious issue. I think if I were in the family's position, I would probably want her to face death, but I'm only speculating...

Hi everyone, I'm new here, I didn't start watching the trial until Jodi was already on the stand and had to catch up with YouTube videos of the previous days of the trial. I've been reading around and studying the photos (how I found you) and wondered if anyone noticed some of the same things I have (or think I have) but I can't post attachments yet to illustrate, how many posts till I can post a pic?

Thanks for having me, from the reading I've done here so far you all sound like a fun and smart bunch (and gentle on newbies lol).

Nurmi and Wilmont, by putting Stabby on the stand and essentially putting TA on trial are looking for a jury nullification. Nullification is always a desperation strategy, resorted to when there is no room for doubt.

I agree.....they can't focus on the actual killing, because Jodi is claiming "amnesia" to the majority of events of that day. And of course she is, because she knows that testifying about how she actually sliced and diced him will not bode well for her. But I believe the crime scene, coroner autopsy photos and ME testimony speak pretty loudly on their own.

And, judging by the jury questions to Jodi, I'm strongly believing that the nullification strategy didn't work so well for them.

The main goal of the criminal justice system is to provide offender rehabilitation. In the event that a prisoner is released, they want them to be provided with the tools provided to them, such as therapy, in order to reduce recidivism. Of course, these are more aimed at offenders who are serving shorter prison sentences or have the opportunity to be up for parole.

In the case of Jodi, there isn't much to do as far as rehabilitation, but they will still make the effort. Even the "lifers" can provide a positive influence on other inmates and end up being somewhat productive members in the prison. I personally, would much rather see a person spend life in prison because I think that is by far more of a "punishment" for those serious offenders than death. The complete loss of freedom and having to live day after day being faced with your actions I think would be far more of a living hell than the "release" of death. However, I am also for the death penalty as well. But I'm not much of a pacifist in the sense where I think a person being put "to sleep" is sometimes too far of a humane method for individuals who have inflicted the most violent and brutal torture on their victims. There are cases where the families and friends of victims will ultimately forgive the offender, but objectively it is hard to say how we personally would feel in regards to what justice we would want done to an individual who brutally murdered someone we loved. We all have the risk of being in that position, and until you are at that place I think it is hard to really determine how you would react. Again, just my opinion.

Edited to add: Random fact: Rehabilitation is pushed more on juvenile offenders versus adults. It's the general consensus that they still have the opportunity to become productive members of society.

I'm a little confused on what the big difference is between two and three gas cans, having any seems to satisy the premeditation angle, is JM just trying to prove she'll fib directly to the juror questions?

I had read somewhere (can't remember if it was here or another forum a great rundown on the gas mileage for the car she was driving, as well as the 3 cans and the miles she drove in the state of AZ)...JM is trying to prove she had the 3 gas cans and she lied to the jury...and once JM catches her in any lie, the jury can then disregard all of her testimony, or a part of her testimony, it's up to them....and it also shows that she was planning the trip into AZ and out of AZ without using any gas stations whatsoever so she could remain covert the whole time. If the trip was scheduled ahead of time, why do that at all? If she was determined to remain covert, then it goes to show premeditation on the murder. I believe that's what's up with the 3 gas can questioning (IMO).

Oops, when I said "if the trip was scheduled ahead of time", I meant with Travis. I know she premeditated the trip herself, but without Travis's knowledge and it was planned solely to kill him. Sorry about the word misuse up there.

She needed all three gas cans to make it into and out of Arizona without having to stop for gas. If she had to stop to for gas in Arizona she could have been remembered by a gas station attendant/captured on video or a record of her purchase would have been made, thereby destroying the alibi she set up and disproving her claim she had not planned to go to AZ at all and it was a "spur" of the moment thing.

The gas cans are only one part of the premeditation, the theft of the gun from her Grandparents is another. With each step she was making a conscious decision to go to AZ to murder TA.

She said she borrowed two five-gallon cans from Old boyfriend, Darryl, so she could load up on cheap gas in Nevada and Utah for her trip. Then she bought another in Salinas on June 3, when she allegedly was to start out for Salt Lake City. Then she ""said"" she returned that one to WalMart. She drove to Pasadena and filled the gas cans with expensive California gas which is contradictory to how she said she wanted to utilize them, (buy cheap gas in Nevada and Utah). She contacted Travis, she said, and started out for Mesa, Arizona, contrary to the initial purpose of her trip which was to go to Utah. She last bought gas in Desert Centre, (Interstate 10) in Calaifornia. She never bought gas in Arizona. Prosecution says that these actions, (15 gals of California gas in cans) prove that she intended to get in and out of Arizona undetected and this proves premeditation. She did get in and out undetected.

Right now, she's trapped with the discovery that when she finally left Salt Lake City, she purchased gas to fill her rental car and an additional 15 gallons. That means 3 cans, not two as she claimed, and she's a liar--everything she says is a lie and she's done. It goes a long way towards proving that she had plans to kill Travis Alexander before she left California.

It also proves that she used the gas cans during the trip to AZ since she had to refill them in Utah

Okay, I see the point of proving she had 3 cans (thanks, I hadn't thought she needed the contents of all three to make it to his place and out of the state before needing more gas. JM also brought up her using both her personal and business bank acccount debit cards to make the separate transactions, think he's trying to show she was going to try to deduct some of the gas on her photography business account (showing once again how cold hearted she is)?

    Hi to all,
This forum is amazing. Can't tell you how addicted I am! Hate to be new! But here it goes!

Jodi seems to come across as if she "did the murder" and now she is a different person "honest, etc".
She seems to have skipped the part where she needs to "pay" for her crime LOL.

Have no problem with the death penalty, but it is so true that life in prison is torture ultimately.
Do you notice her little grey hairs starting to come in when her hair is pulled back?
I picture her an old lady with a grey hair curtin in a jail cell.

This is so true. I have a cousin with a very uncommon name that recently killed himself in Phoenix, AZ. I Googled his name & Phoenix,AZ to see if I could find any information about the incident & I was shocked to find another suicide occurred a few years earlier in Phoenix by a man with the same name & age as my cousin.

Hi all, my 3rd post woo hoo! Still managing to read all posts, Irish still probably thinks I'm having a torrid affair, and I still can't quote someone else properly-if any of you kind people can do a brief summary I'll love you forever!
I don't know if this has been asked to Jodi or addressed (I can't remember with everything else in this bloody trial of gab-a-lot) but has she being asked why she timed her trip to Travis' to arrive so early in the morning? Did she have plans in mind to kill him earlier I wonder? I'm sure I speak for most people in that you would surely arrive during the day/early evening so you could do normal things like a day out, go out to eat etc. strange she turned up at 4am.

I've thought the same thing many times. I've even tried to imagine what I would feel if I butchered a human being. Terrible remorse, sorrow? Tremendous regret? Self-loathing?

She should be feeling a lot more than just shame, but I don't think she's capable. I don't believe she even feels ashamed at all.
