It about killed me to do so but I had to walk away from someone that I not only loved dearly but also helped through recovery after a horrible motorcycle accident/brain surgery with removal of a part of his frontal lobe. He was back to being like a 7 year old.... a 7 year old who believed he could do the adult things he'd done before. In this condition he got hooked on heroin with a friend and after seeing the hell it brought him to and how no matter what I did I could not help him this time I had no choice but to run for the hills.
Look out for yourself first. That's a dangerous situation for you to be in. Get out as quickly as you can.

Around here that's what most of our OD's are from. And I've been seeing some on Suboxone (I think that's what it's called) too.
I watch that show called "Autopsy: The final hours of" that goes into great details on a star's death/autopsy. They use some type of animation to show what certain drugs will do to your body. Anyway, fentanyl is crazy dangerous. Even more dangerous when mixed with another drug or alcohol.
Personally, I think some of the problem starts because doctors all of a sudden want to cut their patient off of oxy's or other pain meds. If you just cut somebody off just because you're scared to write the prescription anymore....what's a patient in pain supposed to do? They've been getting their scripts for a long time, so now they're labeled a "druggie" in some database somewhere. So that patient can't go to another doctor because then they would be seen as "doctor shopping"
It's a dr's job to help that person get better. I'm not sure what the solution should be, but just cutting a patient off cold turkey isn't working.
So very sad, just a baby.

Don't heroin users get to needles pretty quick? I'm basing purely off TV and movies at this point since I've never been so intimately involved, but the people I knew were straight from shooting crushed up pills to heroin; there was no "soft" introduction.
This is morbid. It's sad I'm feeling more difficult feeling sorry for her. No ones should face that shit. Addiction is nasty and heartbreaking from a distance. It's nasty, enraging, and disgusting when you get a little closer. The sadness gets harder to feel. Brain.

Not necessarily. I knew people who smoked it for a year or so, then eventually got in banging it up.
What I will say, is the ones injecting seemed to struggle much harder to get clean. In fact, it seems to be most of the smokers of it who managed to stay clean in the end as opposed to the intravenous users. Mind you, a few of them od over the years too and didn't make it.
