is it ok to come into a specific thread to fight with the posters for posting things related to the thread?

just asking. i don't think it's fair. i'm not a fan of these fictions, but this is the fan fiction thread. perhaps writing fan fiction is coconut's thing. s/he is just doing what s/he loves to do and was afforded the opportunity to do.

fan fiction thread has nothing to do with thread closures, the site running slow, reps/smites, crybabies or infiltration of other threads. in fact - just the opposite. it confines like minded people to a specific area. i'm all for it.

I wish I would have known that before I upgraded and paid for premium membership.

What point? That since I post in that thread I am crazy? And just because I don't post in other threads, doesn't mean I don't read them. I wasn't really impressed with the animal bashing in one that I recently read.

A much as I think this stupid and creepy, no, I do not think it is fair to come in here and bash people for using this thread for its purpose, and I don't think it's cool at all for everyone to go after coconuts.

The shameful part is that people who actually want to read and write fan fiction have now been unfairly labelled by "some senior members" of the forum as "losers, wackos, obsessives". Others are lining up to jump on the bandwagon and share their negativity and personal attacks.

This thread for fan fiction is now a discussion of several other unrelated topics:

1. Why people hate the Jodi trial
2. How the forum was better in the old days
3. I'm too good for fan fiction
4. I hate this lame poster who isn't funny

It would be lovely if all these side issues (including this irrelevant post) could be moved to their own thread(s) so the people who want to discuss the topic at hand can do so without fear of bullying and name-calling.

If you don't like me, don't think I'm funny, start a thread in a different/relevant area to air your grievances or send me a private message. Or ignore my posts. You don't have to visit the Jodi forum if you don't like the trial and feel judgemental about the people who ARE interested. If you've been on the forum forever, or fancy yourself a morally superior human, I'm sure these simple concepts will be obvious and familiar to you.

I was really enthusiastic about the Jodi trial. Several of us even have a private group on facebook to discuss the case. I don't think there is anything wrong with being interested. It's an interesting case. There's a difference between interest and obsessiveness. I've been on mds since the very beginning and have been here longer than almost anyone and I've never seen so many people act so fucking nuts on here. Even just the way the mods have been treated is disgusting.

I'm sure this site was all fun and entertaining before it became a jodi site filled with people banned from other sites.The moderators I think do a great job and allow for ALL opinions,sure you might get lambasted by others on the thread but hey your allowed to stay unlike the nazi's that run other sites.Humans have this innate desire to see tragedy in other people's live's to make their live's seem sane.Their heated debate is for their entertainment only .Sure people want justice because they believe "in the system" and when they don't get it they feel cheated.Others root for the underdog .I like this site and have met some funny people.Keep up the good work

Again, nobody is writing Fan Fic except coconut who thinks he's hilarious. I don't. Lots of other people don't. If the mods found him offensive, they could certainly do something about it, like say hey, that's disgusting, no fan fic or you will be banned. But instead, he pretty much got his own thread here. I had no control over that, nor do I have any control over the ridiculousness that he posts. I'm not a mod.



The thread has attracted lots of crazies. Yes, it's true. Lots of nutters are attracted to that thread and have been causing all kinds of problems. Why? I'm not sure - perhaps because there aren't as many outlets for posting about the trial as there were for other trial, like the Casey Anthony trial, which I think had more notoriety. Maybe because the length of the trial, it's pulled in more people as it's gone along. I don't know.

BUT to lump everyone who is interested in the trial in with all the crazies who are causing all of the problems is not fair. Personally, I use the ignore button pretty liberally. And if I were a mod, I would be banning people left and right.
