Daveigh Chase was living a tortured existence months before her death as her friends and loved ones tried desperately to save her life, her manager told The California Post.

John Ryan, Chase's manager of more than a decade, said he and Chase's stepsister Gaia Brown had enlisted the help of a private investigator about a year ago to track her down and get her some help.

Ryan said at the end of 2025 he was alerted to a video which allegedly showed Chase shockingly skinny and struggling on Skid Row.

The video, posted and later pulled from social media, showed a very thin Chase, barely conscious on the floor of what looked like a tent or trailer.

Ryan said he was able to get on the phone with Chase to rescue her for treatment shortly after the video surfaced, but she had "disappeared" by the time he got down to Skid Row.

"We were so close to finding her," he told The Post, "Daveigh was the sweetest and brightest light in Hollywood. I can't believe this is real. Her legacy and work will live on forever."

To add insult to injury in Chase's death, Ryan has called out what he believes to be an improper GoFundMe set up by her alleged boyfriend.

"Apparently, a man claiming to be her 'boyfriend' that none of us friends or her family has heard of has set up a GoFundMe on 'her and her families behalf' that he set her up as the organizer. I can confirm Daveigh has a trust account set up at SAG to cover all costs," he told The Post.

She was a little girl, thats why I forgot.

Its pretty hard for me to think a pretty blond girl played that horrifying girl from the ring.

I watched it for the first time last year but couldn't remember her, until I checked her IMDB and it had pics of her character.

Amidst condolence messages, Daveigh Chase’s longtime manager spoke to The California Post about his “sweetest and brightest” client.

He revealed that, last year, after seeing a video of Daveigh Chase living on the street, he hired a private investigator with her stepsister, Gaia Brown. They were able to locate Daveigh, but upon getting to Skid Row, she had “disappeared.”

“We were so close to finding her,” John Ryan said. “Daveigh was the sweetest and brightest light in Hollywood. I can’t believe this is real. Her legacy and work will live on forever.”

Speaking again to The New York Post, John detailed the agreement Daveigh Chase had with Disney when she voiced Lilo in Lilo & Stitch. Instead of a one-time fee, Disney gave the child star a cut of merchandise sales, residuals, theme park attractions, and other products using her voice. Considering how popular the film is to this day, that’s a considerable amount of money, her manager said.

John’s office is full of SAG-AFTRA notices about the residuals, which he claimed totalled “millions.”

So, why didn’t she cash them?

According to John, Daveigh was “too far gone” on drugs like heroin and fentanyl. He tried to contact her repeatedly over the years and got close in 2025 after hiring the private investigator.

John also said that it’s typical for the next of kin to get the money, which would be her dad.

It's very sad. But also a good reminder this can happen to ANYONE. Even someone with millions of dollars, and that drugs will always come out on top :(

I had a co-worker who really f***ed over her life due to drugs. Actually two.
1. My ex-co-worker was dating a guy who was fourteen years younger than her. She had a kid from a previous marriage. She was trying to get custody of her son. I'm not sure why she didn't have custody. So the guy she was dating and living with was from a rich family. He was the black sheep. Anyhow, he introduced her to drugs. My bosses found out she was doing drugs and fired her. The last time I talked to her, she said she was living on a stranger's porch.
2. One of my favorite ex-bosses somehow got into drugs. He had a wife and two kids. I think he's kind of rebuilt his life a little, but I know at one point, he was homeless in Florida.
