I just finished The Day I Die by Anita Hannig. It was a deep dive into the Washington and Oregon Death with Dignity laws. It was interesting and I didn't know how many barriers there are to using the law, even for people with terminal illnesses that meet all the criteria.

@RBW - there are so many regulations associated with right to die. People falsely think they can just move to a state that allows it and it's a done deal. From the forms that need to filed, to the cost associated with the drugs used to access to care, it is a difficult journey.

I made it my goal this year to read ten books. I hit that goal. Then, I changed it to fifteen. I hit that goal. I'm not sure if I'm going to set another goal or just read.

Thanks! It's a start. I only read three books last year.
I used to be such a bookworm. I miss it. It's hard reading now with kids.

People don't realize just how difficult it is to carve time to read a book. I wish I could devote more time to it myself.

Yeah - it's harder and harder to make time to read, and I don't even have kids.

I've been better recently, though. I read two books last week. I've been turning my TV time into reading time, and it makes me feel so much better.

Have you read any Connelly books lately? I just started The Proving Ground after a 4 month wait from my library.

I was disappointed in Connelly's last book. It was nowhere near as good as his books usually are.

Nomad, do you have any recommendations? We seems to like similar books.

I have not read anything recenty by Connelly. I haven't been reading as much as I should be, either - very much focused on work and buying my first home (which is a lot more stressful than I initially magined it would be).

Also - Scarpetta - I have not read the books but I do need to. I know all about the character and the series, since that's all in my genre, but have yet to read them.

The show is excellent, though.

Eight Million Ways to Die (don't watch the movie - it's a very poor interpretation of the novel)

We met a friend for lunch yesterday and he gave me the book One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad. I will let you guys know what I think but he highly recommended it.
