Super bummed, my dog was completely different after the black dog Morticia died in Nov.

Were they very close?

I am so sorry Puke. It's amazing how our furry family members wiggle their way into our hearts and leave such a big hole when they're gone.

This isnt about my pet, but I went to my first cat cafe, of course only I could ruin it

I went to the "adult" cat room, and was drawn to a cat named Cookie. Upon further inspection I noticed she had purulent nasal discharge, eye drainage, and was breathing abnormally. I suspected she had a URI, and needed vet attention right away because of her breathing.

I told the staff right away, and they said she was just stressed. Since I petted her, I stayed away from other cats, as to not spread infection. It looked like they had a seperate vent system so that may help not spread disease. I thought about cookie all day and night.

They probably hated me because I told other people she was sick, and to stay away from her.

My husband had a fucking blast. This little girl (probably about one) ignored everyone and hid, but my husband sat by her and I have never seen a cat be more affectionate. She hugged him and laid her head on his shoulder. She picked him as her person, but she was already adopted. But he loved the attention from Sugar.

I texted my pre Vet friend with pictures and she said they always have one sick cat in the mix. Thats messed up, they need to train staff for signs the cats need isolation.

We are going to go again in June and pick out a cat for Austin, he gets to choose. He hates my shows, but loved Last Man on Earth and The Office, he decided he will name the cat Sprinkles after Angela's cat

I resonate with Sal on Impractical Jokers because he doesn't like cats either. One of his punishments was he had to be locked in a large cage with a bunch of cats and I had such anxiety.

I just wasn't sure what a cat cafe was and I googled to see if it was someplace that actually serves food and it said they do. The thought of random animals and food together creeps me out, and the idea that one of them might be sick makes it worse. I guess I have just spent a lot of time around rescue animals and they are often creepy. I don't want to think about them and anyplace that serves anything in the same thought.

The food area is like a bar with some tables, and the cats are in a room. Every cat was "behavior trailed" but most were stressed and avoided people, except Sugar.

I knew the food/cat area was seperate, but I expected the cats to be friendlier. One was terrified was huge pupils. One was growling and swiping at people.

Also you had to pay $55 dollars extra to see the kittens, and I was pissed about that, I wanted to get my kitten fix on.

I like cats (we have two), but have decided over time that they are not for us, so we will never get anymore moving forward.

I fucking love cats, even though those cats werent friendly. I have been blessed to have 4 amazing cats in my life.

I understand most people do not like cats, thats what makes me like them more. They can be total dicks and act like assholes but they can also be so loving and sweet.

I probably wont change anyones mind BUT

I am just more of a dog person (and my husband is as well), so after our two babies are gone, we're done with cats.

As a kid I was all about cats but once I got my own dog I was 100% team dogs. A lot of people describe chows as very cat like though, so there's that.

That's how they describe our Ragdoll, but opposite...he is more like a dog than a cat.

I'm both Team Dogs and Team Cats for different reasons. If you're looking for complete loyalty and unconditional love, dogs are the way to go. You can exercise with them and bring them fun places. They're a whole different vibe.

If you're looking to be reminded that you aren't all that great after all, then cats are the way to go. They do wholeheartedly love you, but with conditions I can respect them because they get away with shit that I wish I could get away with. But they also are the BEST cuddlers and are so easy to take care of. Much more independent and love to play as well. You get more of an array of personality from cats than dogs. Not saying that dogs don't have personalities, they ABSOLUTELY do. Just that cats kind of come in various facets of personalities.

I miss my two kids a lot. But I'm also glad to have our cat now. Someday we'll adopt a dog again. When the time is right

We had a cat cafe open near here. Getting the MR to eat there would be way too much work.
I'd always had cats but Rudy has turned me into a dog lover. However, after he passes we will not get another dog. Instead, after I mourn, we will get an older cat to give it a home so it doesn't spend the end of it's life in a shelter. That's the plan anyway but it's my plan and the Mr isn't so sure. He grew up in a no pets household.

Marsh, that's a noble gesture and one that I think is amazing to do. We had clients that used to adopt senior kitties for the same reason. Knowing that your time is short with them, but that you are giving them a loving home for the rest of their life so that they can rest easy is just amazing. It takes a certain kind of strong person to be able to do that

I feel like a cat is the way to go if you want a pet, but work a lot. They don't need as much of your attention or time like dogs do. You don't have to make sure you're home to let them outside to use the bathroom.

When my kid went through the whole being jumped thing and they couldn't stay at the apartment (they stayed at my dad's while he was out of town and was adamant her cats couldn't be there) I remember thinking I was so glad she had cats and not dogs. They would just go over once a day to feed them, make sure they had water, and clean the litterbox. Couldn't do that with a dog.

I was going through old papers for my heart cat and ran across this poem. It comforts me. It has probably been posted before, but I feel compelled to post it again. For Puke and Boston and anyone else that lost a baby.

I have only seen a FHO femoral head ostectomy.

Its my understanding muscles in the leg hold the femur in place, until the scar tissue forms a "false joint".

So yeah, the muscles hold it in place.

Its a pretty common surgery, at least at the place I used to work. Fresh out of school Vets did it. When they were at the point where they needed a replacement, we referred them elsewhere.

Thanks for the info! My boy isn't there yet, but I fear surgery is in his future and I'm just doing some research. I've never known anyone who did either, and it still doesn't seem like it would work but I guess it does. Both options were thrown out there as possibilities IF we get to that point. I know the total replacement is more involved, but it sounds like a better option to me, but IDK.

We do another round of PT and shockwave today, and start the water treadmill.
