I don't understand. I knew there were closet Trump supporters, but even if they all gathered I still didn't think he could win.

CNN is just being petty at this point not calling PA for Trump, c'mon guys.
CNN has lost any remaining luster wrt covering politics in this election cycle, it is a joke.
Last night when I was watching- CNN was way behind everybody in calling stuff. I think they were scared to. That's why I ended up going back and forth between Fox and MSNBC.
I got wasted last night. Way too much wine.

Reps keep the house and senate.

    Folks, we'll be alright.
    I'm really surprised tho.

    Harambe had 11,000 votes.

11,000 people voted for a dead gorilla.

    Let that sink in.

He played to people's hatreds and to their distrust of 'the man'. He is a man who cheats his partners, screws over his employees, and lies to your face. He is a hateful man who degrades women, mocks the handicapped, incites racism, and provokes people to anger but he won. He will be in a place he thought he wanted (and never thought he'd win) but he'll be in a place his ego hates too. Every sneeze, every penny, every lie, every angry word, every threat, every flaw will be discussed and noted and broadcast. And the real winner, possibly the only winner?
SNL! They are going to have a blast the next four years.
And the rest of us need to find a good candidate to win in four years because if this fool gets impeached, his back up isn't so great either.

I'm pretty sure he's one of the "any publicity is good publicity" types.

The thought of his whole brood setting foot in the White House just grosses me out. Except Ivanka. I like her.

    And I hate Melania.

This is all the DNCs fault. Had they let Sanders have it, like he should have, he would have won. But, Sanders would be a puppet master and run the show. The "behind closed doors" DNC elite wanted a puppet like Hillary so they could control the show while she cackled and barked for the masses.

For those of us that are privileged to have a voice, let's remember to speak up for those that don't. As much as I'd like to get out of this country with the rest of you, it wouldn't sit right with me. The people affected by this presidency the most are typically the ones that can't pack everything up and leave. Our voices need to be heard, but they won't be if we leave right away.

This is spot on. And also why I don't adhere to any party, because they're ALL self serving. This was a perfect example of that.

It wasn't the Trump supporters, or at least not only his supporters. It was the protest voters and the people who just stayed home. I believe 3rd party made the difference in Florida, Penn, Utah, Wis., and maybe Michigan.

Now, I'm not saying Hillary would have won all of them if people had only voted with some sense, but... let's just call this Nader two.

The Dems made a horrible miscalculation when they concentrated only on large urban areas. That cost them. Hillary didn't so much as nod at the DAPL people and that cost her with Native Americans, who can swing elections on occasion.

Argh. Well R's, now your chance to grow up and govern, rather than just saying NO!

I'm seriously going back and forth between "fuck I give up on politics and will never vote again" to "where the fuck are the protests, cause I wanna fuck some shit up right now".

I keep thinking back to 2004 when I was dab smack in the middle of Los Angeles thinking how progressive the vibe was and how certain it was that bush would be exiled. Man, was I in shock after that one. Finally, I realized that LA is its own little Petrie dish and that I had surrounded myself with similar people. This time I'm here in a shithole, surrounded by trump supporters and I still believed that the country as a whole wouldn't be this stupid... but again, I was wrong, and this time I'm even more shocked.

I think I'm going to just leave my Bernie sticker on my car. No need to remove it. I was a proud supporter from day one. Should have went with Bernie, DNC. You played yourselves so hard.

I could have sworn I heard one of the commentators on either MSNBC, Fox or CNN (kept going between them all) say that the results are all due to "race", meaning it is the white people who are fed up with how things have been going in the country. Not sure how true that is or if it was actually said, as I was drinking wine to numb the pain.

This, all of this. I realized that a lot of people were not happy with the choices, and wanted to feel like their protest vote would matter. The reality is though, that only two people had a real chance in this election, and the protest vote most likely gave Trump the election.

I am glad I don't have children, and that I am over 40. I would not want to be young and just starting out in today's new world. Hillary wasn't a great candidate, but she should have beat him hands down. I guess I am just stunned that people couldn't see the importance on sacrificing their own self-importance on this for the greater good of stopping a fascist.

I was watching the election on Bing, and I forget what state it was, but one of the "candidates" was "none of these". It got a surprising amount of votes.

Utah had a ton of third party votes.

Poor Bernie. He got screwed. He was the only candidate that had an entire page dedicated to animal cruelty/neglect/abuse reform. I would have gladly voted for him.

Most of the people I knew that went with Johnson, would have voted Trump otherwise. So people have to stop blaming the 3rd party voters. If Jill Stein had ended up with voters, then you assume they would have Voted Hillary. As strange as it sounds, not voting 3rd party would have helped Trump. All you have to do is look at some of Gary's views on the issues to see that he leans more right than left.

thank you. it's not the third party voters fault. it's the establishments fault. it's the DNCs fault. it's the GOPs fault. they made this happen.

i don't know if it's really true that bernie would have done better in the general, but it makes sense. sexism is alive and well in this country and there are plenty of folks out there who wouldn't vote for a woman even if they do hate the donald.

I have always believed that Bernie would have won over Trump, hands down. Yes, like you, I'm blaming the establishments and not the people. It's very sad to see people missing what really happened here.
