I'm sure it will turn out nicely. Your hair dresser sounds pretty cool and I'm sure she will help you figure out how to style it properly. Whenever I feel anxious about a particular subject, I stay away from Internet searches on that subject. You will find the worst case scenario situations that do not pertain to you.

I've had my hair permed a few times.the biggest rule is only use a pick or your fingers. Fingers work much better.

If your perm is to tight...which it usually is the first week or so- super tight curls- you can wash it a few times and it will relax the curls some. The first week is usually the scariest bc the curls are so freaking tight. Don't panic....it should relax some.

Hair products is a must. Those curls will friz the f up in a second. I used some gel when my hair was semi damp, and used a blow dryer and tipped my head over and blow dried underneath.

Perms never did that well in my hair after a month or so. They would start to fall out.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I pushed out a baby in the meantime. I ended up getting a color and going a bit red. It wasn't too different. She only trimmed my bangs and they were sideswept. It looked good for a day and then I had a baby

The colour didn't last - it seems like as I get older, every colour lasts for a shorter time. It's only been 3 weeks and my grays are coming through? Normal?

Red hair color doesn't "stick" very well to almost all types of hair. There are some things you can do to prolong the color: use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner (loreal makes an affordable version), was your hair less frequently, use luke warm/cold water to rinse, and wear a hat or use a product with SPF when going out into sunlight. That should help prolong the color.

She may be 40-years-old, but Gabrielle Union looked years younger in a picture she shared of herself completely make-up free on Twitter.

The ageless star posted a before and after snap of herself as she got into her character 'Erica' for The Untitled Chris Rock Project on Wednesday.

In the before image, the Bring It On star could pass for a woman in her Twenties.

i don't like the way she contoured her nose with the makeup. it looks better in the non-makeup pick, imo. actually, it looks like a different nose. she is cute.

I agree with all of this. And I definitely have to say the grays are coming through because of the red (such a pretty color, but doesn't last!).

I just wanted to share a new favorite of mine - Bird's Nest Facial Mask. I found a packet of the mask at Mother's Market and decided to give it a shot- claims to eliminate dull skin, improve texture and add moisture. And I just LOVE it. My skin was so soft for a couple days after and even looked really soft.

It's super easy too- apply the mask for 15-20 mins and remove (it's the type with the cutouts that you place on your face) and then rub the remaining into your skin. No rinsing necessary. Here is a pic of what the packet looks like:

I only found the masks available on Amazon (non-prime) but maybe you can find it locally in your area. Here is the Amazon link:

Does anyone care to share their face routine for morning and nighttime? I think I'm skin illiterate because I have spent my whole life fighting acne/oily skin and now I'm fighting aging issues in my late 30's. I would love to know how many steps/products people use and in what order and how these products help.

i've always had zit problems - not in high school, but ever since... nothing seemed to help until recently when i became very consistent in washing with a light cleanser in the morning, rinsing with cold water and using a tomato toner afterwards. i also have on olay exfoliating brush that i use in the shower at night with an exfoliating cleanser. when i get a pimple, i've been doing angela's garlic trick and it works like a charm!

i really think the biggest reason my acne is clearing lately is that i've been drinking more than the recommended amounts of water everyday.

i don't use lotion, but i probably should... especially now that i'm getting to be an old lady.

Yeah, same here with the no acne until adulthood. I have it under control for the most part. I use a clarisonic brush and acne cleanser and I have just started using some eyecream, but I have avoided anything moisturizing for so long that I am a little unsure now where to go. I feel like just in the last year I can see so many little lines around my eyes and my laugh lines seem so pronounced. I have never been one to use a moisturizer at all until I started using it hit and miss recently.

I don't wear anything under my makeup except (recently started) sunscreen and I'm sure I could make it look better if I knew what I was doing...but it can't induce acne. So that's my dilema. I wash my face morning and night and use what I mentioned, but other than that I am clueless and welcome any advice!

Oh, and as a note I used retinol for years for the acne and it doesn't seem to have done a damn thing to avert the crows feet and such.

It's MDS. Even in the beauty thread, 'no makeup' is better.

Mornings- I alternate between Trader Joe's tea tree oil face wash and St. Ives apricot scrub. I use "Simple" hydrating lotion (from Target) and Aveeno Naturals Positively Ageless eye cream. At night I use Clean and Clear sensitive skin face wash and neutrogena ageless continuous hydration night cream. I also drink a ton of water.

I use the scrub every other day to exfoliate. I like the Simple face lotion because it's very gentle and doesn't interfere with my make up. I don't know if the eye cream helps or not but I've been using some sort of eye cream since I was 20 and no wrinkles or anything thus far (I'm 35 now). Clean and Clear does a good job of removing the makeup and the Neutrogena stuff just seems to work well for me.

I also drink a ton of water...I forgot that was supposed to help your skin. At least I'm doing something right, lol. I think my eye wrinkles come from wearing contacts from the time I was 10-27 (before LASIK) without sunglasses. They are supposed to make you more sensitive to light and therefore more prone to squinting if you don't wear sunglasses. Now I am religious about sunglasses and sunscreen, but I guess it's too late.

Mornings- wash my face with a hydrating cleanser, apply an eye cream (I love Arbonne's RE9), an anti-aging moisturizer, then an SPF cream.

Nights- wipe off my make-up with Neutrogena make-up cleansing wipes, wash my face with a hydrating cleanser, apply witch hazel, eye cream, and an anti-aging night cream.

A few times a week I use an oatmeal & honey exfoliating scrub and 2-3 times a month I do some kind of mask.

My cleanser and anti-aging creams are from Derma-e. SPF cream is from Neutrogena.

Also- when I wash my face I always use a facial cleansing brush:

I'm a redhead with lots of gray, so when I dye to cover up the gray I deal with this issue. I have been using Proclaim Glossing Polish Color and Heat Protection from Sally's Beauty Supply and it seems to help the color last longer. It also gives my hair a really nice shine and helps to prevent frizzy hair.

The last color I used was called Age Beautiful, and it is made specifically to cover stubborn grays. It was the only thing that covered my orange hair. It took nicely, lasts long, and it has some great features. It lasts up to 8 weeks, makes your hair fuller, softer, and shinier, and it doesn't damage it at all. I just got 2 more applications at Sally's - BOGO all month and am only coloring it because it's so dark. If you do your own hair, try this brand. I just bought the color lock conditioner they make too. It's going to be a Beauty Day today, so I'll let you know how the new products work. I think it was Ani who said to use Argan Oil or deep conditioner on my hair while outside before I color it. It's not real hot today, but it's sunny, and I plan to do that again.

Does anybody have any experience with press on nails? Do they come off too easily? I only want to wear them to work during the day. I can't put glue on my nails right now since they're so fragile. I have been gardening around rocks, and my nails and hands are a mess. The nails on my right hand are so short and have cracks, but I can't even get a file under them to even them out. Ugh.

I have had several people tell me that my skin looks good lately. I take Biotin and Fish Oil daily. I shared an old beauty tip awhile ago. Apply raw egg white to fine lines and let it dry like a mask. It really works well, however, the results are very temporary. I use sunscreen, but I can stay outside for hours soaking up the sun. I'm going to be a wrinkled mess when I'm older if I continue this. I'm fortunate that I take after one of my grandmothers and have her skin type, but I have got to stop smoking. That really messes with your skin.

Press on nails suck. You really need to glue them on for them to stay put, unless you do absolutely nothing with your hands.

Dont do the nails. Press on or otherwise. You'll fuck up your nail beds. Start taking prenatals or something like that that will help strengthen. I think they even make some polishes specifically for strengthening nail beds now. Good luck!

I am starting to get those pink/purple marks from the inside corners underneath my eyes going down to the middle of my eyes. What can I do to make this go away? I am not sleeping well and have had a lot of stress. Sleep would help, I'm sure, but what else should I do? I am not liking this.

Thank you for the advice. I'm glad I asked. I put a calcium nail treatment on a little while ago, and that's about all I'm going to do until they grow a little. Right after I put it on I put on gardening gloves and started fucking around with bricks. I had to do re-do my nails. I cannot do my own nails. I'm fine when I get them done and am forced to let them dry, but on my own I wreck them every time. The poor guy who used to do my acrylics had so much patience. I would leave and walk right back in because I wrecked my nice pretty nails in the car. IDK why I can't just let the damn things dry. The directions on this calcium stuff say to use it every other day. Great.

I have heard of a couple things for puffy eyes that may help you if they actually work. First, teabags on your eyelids, and the other is to use some type of cream with the ingredient in Preparation H. IDK if that would help you with darkness, but it won't hurt. Let me know if you do try either and if they work.

Random question...I was just wondering if anyone signed up for the survey I posted for the free mini-facial in July? If you did and I mailed it out, did you like it? I always like feedback on the products I give away or sell.
