Bummer I wrote lots of notes and when I clicked post reply it told me to log in. I thought I was. I logged in and my writing was gone.

    So here goes again...

Ian is a great guy. Friendly and articulate. Was a treat spending time with him.

Katie Wick and her crew showed up shortly before trial began. They took seats at the end of the line. She is very attractive and friendly. She is not "orange" at all.

The courthouse is enormous. Like 15 floors of courtrooms. The building is very modern and the dedication plaque outside says the building was completed in February 2012. The actual courtroom is HUGE. You get no idea watching on TV.

There are 40 public seats on the south side of the lobby area where interested people are supposed to wait. Folks were very friendly and everyone was talking a million miles a minute. All seats were eventually taken before the bailiff appeared and told us what was going on.

It was exciting standing in the elevator lobby and seeing the Alexander family up close and personal. JM has a presence. You know when he is in the vicinity. The Akexanders are friendly and easily make eye contact. You can almost feel their pain and sorrow.

The wait period was entertaining for no other reason than watching the leopard lady trying to boss everyone. She was very aggressive telling people where they can stand etc. Ian and I told her to take a hike. She threatened to call the bailiff. We said go ahead. No bailiff showed up.

Shortly after 10 the bailiff showed up and gave us a talk about how we are supposed to behave. He next said that he would take 15 in. Bummer. But he came back shortly after and took 6 more in. Ian in I were in!!

Imagine my horror when I discovered my seat was directly behind JAs mom. On geeze. I was not ready to be in that close proximity to her. Right after entering I was looking at JA and she turned around in her chair to glance at her mom. Instead, she made direct eye contact with me. Holy shit. That was intense to me in that quick instant. She is evil.

So JM gets up and here we go. It went FAST! As JM got up JAs mom pulled out a notebook and started taking notes. The book was almost full double sided pages. Book deal in the future? I looked at her notes and it's lots of chicken scratch. It was so weird sitting so close to them.

I'll post this and continue later so this doesn't get lost again...

OMG - Donovan. How can I describe her/him. It sat right in front of Ian. I cannot adequately describe her. I wonder if the JA family realizes how weird she is.

The Alexander family sat right across from me and I tell you their pain and sorrow is real genuine. JM is very attentative to them. Professional guy!

JW has nice legs but that's about it. Nurmi is.. Well, Nurmi. A giant. Reminds me of Golith. David is JM.

The mitigation specialist? How can I describe? Rode hard and put up wet? I don't know but I swear she reminds me or a Tijuana hooker. High heals? She must get nose bleed. Totally unprofessional appearance and demeanor.

The jury! First time I've seen them and from my seat they were all visible. Very ordinary looking folks probably overwhelmed by their responsibility. When JM speaks he has the attention of all jurors. It's impressive.

    Next part to follow.

I'm lazy, so I apologize if this has been answered, but which members are these? Also a secondary question to those members, how much does Jane Velez Mitchell resemble Michael Jackson in real life?

Edited: Saw the first clip, sorry. Awesome job guys! Very well spoken. Looking forward to reading back on your experiences.

    @maryellenabc15 33m

#jodiarias Defense listed Kim Ross - Fellow inmate & Patricia Womack as sentencing witnesses + Daniel Freeman (confirmed he was notified)

    @maryellenabc15 32m

Daniel Freeman told #abc15 he emailed defense back that he's not against #jodiarias getting DP for killing close friend #travisalexander

Patricia Womack is known as Patti, she was in court when the sex tape was played, has appeared on NG and 20/20

I just heard on HLN that they said she can still get 25 years. Can someone clarify this for me? My understanding was that since the jury found her guilty of 1st degree and aggravation, ti goes to :

    1. DP
    2. Life with parole
    3. Life without parole.

So, apparently they can give her parole after 25 years? I am confused. I would not think that she is ever getting out if she is not put to death.

The interviews! Please! Stop with the praise. I plan on going back to court tomorrow a.m. and if you keep it up my head will be so swollen that I won't be able to get it through the courthouse door. The interview happened after lunch, while we were all waiting for the jury verdict on the cruelty. Denver and I went back up to the fifth floor and Tiger Lady, who fancies herself some sort of gatekeeper, kept coming up to us and warning us that she was going to report us to the bailiff's, or some such, 'cause we were in the press/family area. There are no rules against that, but she was making her own just to, I suppose, assert her status. I think she thought that we were trying to position ourselves to jump the line, (impossible to do) for the afternoon session, which in itself, if it happened, would only be a reading of the Jury Verdict on the Cruelty since they were in the process of deliberating. I invited her to come talk to the press with us as they had previously invited me to and she retreated. She was so aggravating, that we decided to just get away from her and go downstairs and wait it out in front of the building. Both Denver and I were of the opinion that it wouldn't be long. As soon as we came out of the front doors JVM was standing there. She approached us; asked us where we were from; how we got interested in the trial, etc. We told her that we met through a blog and that our meeting was arranged by another person who participated. JVM asked the name of the site and Denver told her it was MDS. JVM then asked us if we would do an interview, but that she couldn't mention the name of the blog. She also told us that she had lots of interviews in the can but that people were saying mostly the same things and she appreciated our different perspective from the few things we had said to her by way of introduction. Then she asked us to not say anything more 'till she got the cameras rolling 'cause she found that people never said things as well the second time and she wanted our fresh viewpoints on tape. We weren't all that enthusiastic about participating but I, for one, and I think Denver as well, thought of all you guys and thought we owed you one. So, we did that first clip and you saw it. Looks like we didn't bomb totally. When that was done, JVM asked us to stick around for a further interview closer to verdict time. So, a little while later, just before the verdict, we did the second. Our star turn was over. That was our star turn. We hung around on the steps for a little while longer and saw the Alexander family leave, in procession with a sheriff's deputy, followed by some other trial watchers. Wait for it! Tiger Lady was amongst the followers. I have to confess that I am a little apprehensive about what waits in store for them with their new 'close' friends but I suspect that when this is all over and they are able to return to their normal lives, (to the extent that even that's possible), they'll cull the herd or the herd will move on to other grazing sites.

Can I tell you the rest tomorrow? I mean from the beginning of the day up to the JVM interviews? The photos were horrible and JM was very precise in their presentation. It was very effective when he left the throat slash pic up during a recess. Flores eventually got up and covered the pic cause the Alexander family was sobbing.

BTW I can't hear all that well and I could hear the sisters sobbing.

Nurmi objected constantly and was shot down routinely. The judge looked exasperated.

Oh that two minutes. Brilliant JM. The jury was riveted. It was to me the most effective moment in the trial.

It ended right at noon. Time flies. Ian and I hung out in courtroom until judge emptied room. We went outside and got ambushed by JVM. You all know the rest. I'll post more as I remember missed details.

I will be back tomorrow and hopefully faq can join us. We will do our best to represent all the fine folks here at MDS

BTW - we plugged MDS to JVM but she said we couldn't mention specifically on live tv

Ian and Denver were so eloquent, and they had great courtroom observations. I respect their opinions (and agree with them). They really added a touch of class to HLN's reporting.

it was suggested by a panel member on HLN that Travis' brother and sister "speak from the heart" tomorrow during VIS... but from what I understand the statements have to be written and submitted to the judge. So yes, they can write from the heart and deliver in a heartfelt way but there is no extemporaneous speaking allowed... just reading from a pre-approved statement.

and this phase could take 2-3 weeks.

But, the problem I have is with the ME's report. The lack of blood in the head leading to the lack of hemorrhaging. It obviously penetrated his face, his skull, and had to have been deflected by hitting his brain in order to reflect back through the skull cavity and lodge in the cheek. The brain had to deflect the bullet because otherwise the path would've been straight through front-to-back; that didn't happen.

Sure it could be argued that depending on how much damage the bullet did, he could still be conscious and functional for a while; although that's not what the ME believes.

And while it's reasonable to ask "why use a knife when you have a gun?" I think it's reasonable to ask, "why even bring a knife if you have a gun?" And since she brought the knife as well, we have to believe she was prepared to and willing to use it; which of course she did.

Why use a knife instead of a gun? Many reasons:

    - A knife doesn't make a loud "BANG" that could alert the neighbors who might then call 9-1-1.

    - A knife doesn't have to be properly loaded; it doesn't have a safety that you know how to use; you don't have to know how to chamber rounds; a knife doesn't have a recoil; a knife doesn't run out of "ammo".

    - A gun shot is potentially quickly fatal; whereas a knife let's her take out her rage in making him hurt while she stabs him 2+ dozen times. I will never believe that Jodi wanted Travis to die quick and relatively painlessly. She wanted to rant at him and blame him, and punish him. A knife works better for that.

    - It's believable that she thought a couple of stabs, while he was in a confined space, would disable him to the point where he could not fight back, but that he would linger and suffer while she verbally assaulted him. It seems reasonable that a person would believe that a knife wound to major artery connecting to the heart would quickly disable a person from being able to fight back or even just defend himself.

So, an argument could be made for both methods. I go with the knife wound first for several reasons mentioned above; because she wanted it to be personal; because she thought it would be a disabling wound; because she was fearful someone would hear a shot; and because she wanted him to linger and suffer, both for the pain it caused him and so that she could rant how it was all his fault. Throw in the ME's report and the bullet casing and I believe the gun shot came last, and was the last straw for her , noise be damned, because he just wouldn't die.
I am with you on this. I have always believed it was the knife. She said in her interview with Flores (we know it was made of up of part truths) that Travis was on his knees. I believe he went to his knees to get up and out of that small space. When he was doing that, she went at him w the knife. Hoping the first stab would do it.

The gun was always a last resort due to the fact she knew it would create a problem since it was the same caliber as one reported as stolen.

What I can't understand is why the gun was reported stolen? Did she call in the break-in at her GP house? Maybe it was to collect insurance money??

Shecsaidcill call the bailiff.

BRW - we plugged MDS to JVM butvshecsaid we couldn't mention specifically on live tv

Yes, I heard that as well. I am very disappointed that it has to be pre-approved AND the defense does not have to have one damn thing pre-approved in their appeal for her life. They can plead for her life, but the family cannot plead for her death. Seems unfair.

    2. Life with parole
    3. Life without parole.

So, apparently they can give her parole after 25 years? I am confused. I would not think that she is ever getting out if she is not put to death.
Now that they have found aggravating factors apply, I think the parole is out of the picture. It's either LWOP or DP, which the jury will get to decide (and hopefully, they will be able to come to a unanimous decision on that.)

Daniel Freeman told #abc15 he emailed defense back that he's not against #jodiarias getting DP for killing close friend #travisalexander

Patricia Womack is known as Patti, she was in court when the sex tape was played, has appeared on NG and 20/20
Who can forget Patti? Another stellar cast assembled by the DT.

and this phase could take 2-3 weeks.
Do you know, are they up first thing tomorrow? I don't really understand how this phase of the trial works.
