Before I head off to sleep I will say that I have seen this "Killlll the BITCH" thing happen once before. I was about 10 when this was happening to Lindy Chamberlain. Maybe it's those memories that make me cringe now. I remember vividly, my mother arguing viciously that "any idiot can SEE she's guilty because she never cries". Women across Australia spoke of NOTHING else for months, years maybe, I know it seemed to go forever. There was no social media obviously & I can't imagine how much worse it could've been even if there was.

People had social gatherings just so they could bitch about Lindy & how evil she was. It was insane, there were rumours the babies name meant "sacrifice" & they took her to the rock to spill her blood as an offering to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Even now - when her name has been CLEARED & there have been so many confirmed dingo attacks on kids, not infants, KIDS, even now they refuse to accept they were wrong. (& yes any visitors from the big thread, I know Jodi admitted it, I'm using it as an example of an extreme public reaction, not guilt or innocence)..

I was interested at first, but since I didn't think she could possibly do it alone, people called me a troll. After some of the meathead convos I got into, and seeing what passed for humor in there, I left. It was so bad, it turned me off the case completely. I didn't watch any of the trial or anything. And that pisses me off cause I would really like see how anyone was convinced of how a little girl can take a grown ass man down and drag him around Captain Caveman style.
Fuck! I thought I was off here then I see this I admit, for a long time I thought Jodi was covering for someone else, possibly Matt McCartney, her best friend. It was really hard to believe that she could accomplish all she did in just over 2 minutes by herself. Then I looked at the evidence of the hall with all the blood on the walls and deduced that she did drag him in there. The handprint with her blood mixed with his I thought probably happened as she lost balance trying to drag him and used her hand against the wall to steady herself. Shoulda stuck around Ron, I might have agreed with you.

Exactly. The fact that the rep system had to be taken away because of the fuckery that went on in there says enough.

On Dec 7 2012 I fell and broke my right ankle. Every bone there was to break was shattered. It required surgery and they were able to plate/screw some pieces together but the rest they sutured together.

So now it was December and it's winter. I watched some tv, read a lot of books and I might have even finished reading the internet. I couldn't drive, couldn't go for walks with my Sneaky dog or much of anything else.

I'm a true crime junkie thanks to Mom who hooked me when I was a teenager. I was aware of this case from Dec 2008 and so I started watching the trial when it started Jan 2,2013.

I'm always fascinated about the why. Aren't we all? So I started searching for more information and court documents/minutes and then I found MDS.

When she took the stand I couldn't look away, I wanted to but I couldn't. How often do we get see what is possibly a full blown psychopath get on the witness stand and try to manipulate not only the court, her own lawyers, the State and the jury but the world at large?

So that's why I got hooked.

Sorry, completely off- topic, but why do people say there's no such thing as coincidence? Captain Caveman (as far as I'm aware) hasn't screened down here for 30yrs - & I haven't thought about it for just as long. Less than 24hrs ago I was showing Cavey Wavey to my 10yr old & now you've mentioned him too? Nothing for 30yrs, then twice in 24 hrs? Weeeeeiiird. (hmm, unless you've stuck pix of him in old threads & gone all subliminal on me? In which case I suppose I just trashed my argument all by myself).

It's psychotic to fester hate day after day after day on a person you don't even know, who isn't a part of your life, because she killed her boyfriend. Honestly.
YES! The HATE! Over and over, day after day, page after page after page, all day and into the night...and you would think they would have been happy after the verdict but no, it just continued to escalate. They seemed to be feeding off each other like a jeering, screaming crowd at a cage fight.

I understand the obsession; I was obsessed from the time I got sucked in, in January. It took over my life. But what I never understood, and still don't, was the HATRED. It made me literally queasy every time I checked into that thread so eventually I just had to stop...

I disagree with this. Dogs don't usually fight to the death. Humans keeping them contained so they can't escape, all while cheering them on and placing money on the winner is despicable.

That is a very odd coincidence. Every time something like that happens in my life it creeps me out.

That was my fault. Freudian slip? I have surveillance on all noobs, so it was probably in my head somewhere. Sorry.

Yea, I really didn't get it.

I do find it ironic that people act like Travis was a saint then they act like Jodi was a disgusting skank that only a sleezebag would want. Um, she was good enough for Travis, you realize that right?

Does anybody remember that killer....who was a model? She married the older man that had money. Omeria sp????

I'm not sure of her race, but that bitch was 100xs crazier than Jodi. She tied her man up, stabbed him many times, then cut his body up and boiled his head and ribs. Then she dresses in a red dress with hat and heels.....and ate his rib meat. Then she put his head in the freezer.

Yeah, not to much attention except in the local papers from what I remember. She got murder 2.

I will never understand why some cases become huge, when there are many that don't.

    Here she is.

Omaima Aree Nelson / KYTX (CBS/KYTX) COSTA MESA, Calif. - Omaima Aree Nelson, a former model who was convicted of killing her husband and eating his remains in the early 90s, is now seeking parole, say authorities.
Nelson, who immigrated to the United States from Egypt in 1986, was convicted of second-degree murder and received a sentence of 28 years for killing William E. Nelson,56, in their Costa Mesa apartment, reports CBS affiliate KYTX.

Prosecutors say Nelson killed her husband of less than a month, on Thanksgiving Day. She cooked his head and his hands. She then attempted to get some of her ex-boyfriends to help dispose of the rest of the body parts.

Nelson told authorities that she was under severe stress and her husband often physically and sexually abused her. She was found to have post-traumatic stress disorder in a psychological evaluation.

She will face a parole board in Chowchilla State Prison next Wednesday.

    Yes...that's who it is. Nelson

It was a long time ago, but my mom and I were talking about that case the other day. My mom couldn't understand why everybody was going nuts over the Jodi story when there have been many women that have done worse things. My mom remember the Nelson case well, but she said back then it was hard to get any news on it. She doesn't get the whole trial watching.

She and I both don't get how a lot of people get so emotionally attached to a trial or case??? It's one thing to be interested in trials and the inter- workings of court and the justice system, but quite another when you lash out at people over people you don't know.

You know what I would have done if Jodi was found not guilty? I would have said.....SHIT....then I would have went outside and finished mowing my yard.

Sadly, Ron is right. If Jodi or Travis were black...this would have been 3 page news. It's the same thing with kidnapped and missing people. Not preaching to anybody....just some random thoughts I have.

Yeah, if Travis wasn't a white guy, we never would have heard anything about how crazy Jodi was because it never would have been picked up. Jodi Arias is NOT an enigma. Something like 85% of the people serving time for homicide are diagnosed sociopaths. My friend who works at a mental hospital meets people like her every day.

This is what I don't understand. How do people not acknowledge this?? I could even understand indifference, or someone being like "Oh, I never thought of it that way. I see it now that you point it out though."

But to dismiss it? To say that's not true? To me it's like arguing that the planet is NOT mostly water.

Two words: Social Media. There was no Twitter, Facebook or internet forums in the early 90s when this Nelson trial took place. Nowhere for people to gather online and whip each other into a frenzy.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the JA trial for me has been watching the unfolding spectacle of a lurid murder trial in the age of social media. We're in a whole new era now, folks...

Social media, the fact that the trial was televised and the defendant took the stand, the lies, the sex, the Mormon aspect, the graphic crime scene photos - as well as the fact that she is a pretty white girl and the victim was an "upstanding" handsome white boy.

I was attracted to the case after watching the 48 Hours episode. I found the lying fascinating. Psychopaths might be a dime a dozen in mental hospitals, but I don't work in a mental hospital. I'm pretty sure that I know a couple of psychopaths, but since I know them, I don't find them fascinating as much as I'd like to punch them in the face repeatedly. Being able to observe one without the emotional attachment is what I find fascinating.

I can NOT imagine how the O.J. trial would have been with all that horseshit.

Reminds of a lady who killed her husband while he as going down some basement stairs by hitting him over the head with a frozen leg of lamb. Then she put the lamb in the oven and left the house for a few hours, she called 911 reporting her husband had fallen and then later after they took his body away she offered the cops some dinner - lamb.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the JA trial for me has been watching the unfolding spectacle of a lurid murder trial in the age of social media. We're in a whole new era now, folks...
^This and 24 hr Cable News channels.

I still can't get over the fact she was tweeting via Donavan Bering while she was in jail.

^ This plus the social media and the side shows created by people like Donavan Bering.

Her throwing herself at every tv camera she could access to helped as well. Who goes straight to a reporter for an interview within 20 minutes of being convicted of first degree premeditated felony murder? Before the aggravation phase? Before the sentencing phase? Bizarre doesn't even cover it!
