it was all done at gunpoint and he had to do what he was told...

either way when she got him in the most vulnerable position (the photo being shown today on the thread) she started the attacks. I say the 1st strike was while he was still in the shower.

I'm with you. She got him in the most relaxed state. After sex, hot shower. THE most vulnerable position. A naked unarmed man, unable to defend himself. It probably happened so fast that Travis didn't know what was happening. We can only hope that he went into shock immediately and didn't feel the pain of every stab.

Jodi is such a nutcase, watching this trial is a great example why travis didnt want to marry her and was trying to get away from her

I don't know why they keep billing that as a phone sex tape. They both sounded like a couple of school kids trying to act grown up. There was nothing arousing about that call at all. They discussed sexual things is about all. Travis sounded bored the whole time.

I think Jodi premeditated the phone call also. I would guess she told him what she wanted him to say to her.

Example: He talked about zip tying her to a tree while it was filmed, er ah ah, taking pictures while I stick.....etc. Taking pictures was her thing, not so much his. He knew she would like to hear that.

Anyway......Hey Coconut......as the board sex-tition.......how many times was the word anul mentioned during the trial?

I have read a lot of interesting and probably very close scenarios for how the killing went down. But there's one thing I have never seen adequately fit into the sequence of events.

When did the multiple stab wounds to the stomach happen?

Travis would have to be standing or laying on his back, and not defending his stomach (maybe hands on head?).

@Metis.....was that you who posted your interpretation on the sequence of events earlier today? I can't find it right now, but just wanted to say that was probably just the way it went. Thank you for that.

I think the wait for a verdict is more nerve wracking than actually going through the trial. I've not been able to watch since mid April, as I've been in a long term sub position (don't they know working messes with my trial time??), but I've been reading along here to see what's going on. Thanks for keeping us all informed and entertained, y'all!

This is a very good point. We've all discussed about the gun shot, the stab wounds to the back and the slit to the throat but I don't recall ever seeing a discussion of the stab wounds to the chest and stomach. I'ma have to think about that one.

Since there was no TV or daily newspapers delivered to homes, the church bells were sort of a public announcement system. They announced someone had died, but not who had died. So people hearing the bells might be curious and 'send' a servant to the church to find out who had died.

I think Juan was intending that the 'funeral bell' reference should apply to Jodi. Telling the jury that if they get it right, the bell will be tolling for Jodi.
My lovely, love and I were discussing this after my post, and he was telling me about the funeral bell origin, and that in general, even in our recent history (i.e, WWII) church bells (single repetitive tolls) are not good news! Also the reference in the poem can be attributed to mortality and inevitability! Ask not, cos yer numbers gonna be up someday, so to speak. If it was in reference to Jodi, is that Juan's way of asking them to find in favor of the Death Penalty? I don't know? That is what the State is seeking! In any case, it could most certainly be a call to hold her accountable for her actions: 'Bell tolls for thee'! (M1)

    2. first his legs are not crossed as some have said... they're just tightly tucked at a severe angle... what's seen in that photo is his right calf pressed against the upper part of his right leg. His arms are actually casually draped or resting over his bent knees. It's a shower stall his knees are probably pushed against the wall of the shower thus the "crouch" position. I agree Brillig, IMO this photo preceeds any injury.

He could be under duress/threat... that's possible...
I never considered that his legs were crossed in this photograph. I thought that we were looking at his right ankle joint at the bottom of his right shin? Now it's hard to tell because most of the knee is obscured. I agree that it would kinda yoga-ish for him to be able to cross his legs in that small space.

I've always thought that JA was preparing her attack here in some way, hence the bad shot. This was brought home to me when she was on the stand being crossed by Juan. She was indignant, and arrogant in her response as to whether or not this was an intentional shot or not. She said, "It was CERTAINLY NOT intentional! Don't you know my real name is Annie Leibovitz-Einstein!" (Okay, I added the last bit)

But the shot is not out of focus. All she has really done, in comparison to the preceding photos, has cut his head off [unfortunate term]! Which is why I think she may have still been saying "Yeah Trav! Show that sexy Calvin pout! That's it! A little to the left! Yeah Baby!", while preparing the knife, in whatever manner (from backpack, knickers, who knows).

I never thought his legs were crossed either. That shower stall is not very big, which was part of Jodi's plan. It would be hard enough to leap up from a naked, wet and seated position in the first place. When you add in that he is crammed into a very small space, seated, with his knees to his chest, it would make it almost impossible to get up quickly. It makes him completely vulnerable.

If anyone doubts it, go get wet, naked and seated in a shower of that size and see how easy or difficult it is to get back to your feet. There is no traction, there is nothing to grab to haul yourself up, and it is hard to even maneuver in such a tiny space.

I noticed that too. I think the high verbal acuity and glibness make her appear brighter than she is.

Your lovely love sounds delightful. A history buff! Woot! My interpretation was that it was Juan asking them to find in favor of the death penalty, but obviously I can't know for sure. I think all the interpretations are valid.

This is my take on it as well. Jodi was preparing the attack, getting him in just the right position to make him the most vulnerable. And I do think Jodi was directing him in a photo shoot manner. I also think that explains why those last two shots used the flash (when the others had not). It was to temporarily blind him so that it would be harder for him to see her coming.

Admit it, you have fantasies about Dr Horny squeezing into in a pair of assless leather chaps and having your (coco)nuts cupped in his hands as he asks you to cough and then gloving up to check your prostate.

With this being a picture of a picture it's really tough to tell. dizzyp, I also believe this is where she makes her move. He's in a vulnerable position not only sitting down in the shower, but also because it's still wet from the water running (and possibly just being turned off). I don't know if I believe that he was shot first though, and we will probably never know.

It could be possible that she asked him, while he was sitting, to reach up to turn off the water and then once hos arm(s) were raised she reached in and administered the vena cava wound. As he was trying to get out of the shower she stabs in the torso again and again, he tries to grab the knife and get's the defensive wounds on his hands. He goes to the sink and she stabs in the back and head and then pursues him down the hallway, inflicting the wounds on feet/legs and then the final throat wound. Shoots him after dragging him back to the bathroom because perhaps she heard air escaping from his lungs through the throat wounds and then shoots him the right temple.

I still can't believe Nurmi got the location of the gunshot wrong in his closing - he said left temple !

The Court PIO (public information office) will announce it. The family of the victim has the right to be present and I guarantee you that reports/media types will living either in the court room or in the hallway right outside. If the jury's questions are approved by the Judge then they will be asked and answered in open court. Any testimony read backs will be done in open court. JMO, it will be live streamed/televised.

That was it.
As someone (sorry, I forget who, it was pages ago) said she only THINKS she's smart.

Her reading level is at a 12th grade level. You can have a high IQ and good verbal skills but still not be "smart" if you know what I mean.

She only got her GED once she was in jail, in her Mom's interview tape she mentioned how Stabby was always on her to improve her education etc. I wonder if Stabby told her some lies about getting some higher education?

She was trying to shame her Mother. Speaks of how much she dislikes her.

I must say, with the journey of presenting the evidence completed,

and now waiting for the outcome of all the hard work put in on behalf of his survivors...

the feeling of sadness I have for the loss of Travis' future weighs heavier on my heart.

Most people seem to think that Jodi knew Nurmi was going to say that, and she was prepared to laugh. That may be true, but I saw it differently... I saw Jodi's laughter as an unguarded response of surprise and embarrassment. I have no doubt that comment bothered her a lot the more she thought about it. I assume she was fuming by nightfall.

I agree. Because if this jury comes back with anything lesson than murder 1 premeditated, then she has successfully butchered his reputation as well.
