I really don't get how JW let herself get pulled into Jodi's immature antics. She is an educated, professional woman. These "mean girl" are reprehensible. This doesn't fare well for Arizona's Public Denfenders office. The whispering, note passing and eye rolling is pathetic.

Well, I screwed up that last post's quote, AND I neglected to reply to it. From what I was referring to was the bullet/cheek part. If Travis had been alive during the gun shot, if nothing else, the bullet penetrating the cheek tissue from the inside, which is full of blood vessels, would've caused some kind of bleeding/hemorrhaging inside his cheek, under the skin. In other words, there would've been a bruise on his face. I don't recall seeing that in the ME report.
I mean, the brain is right there inside the skull. The skull was penetrated by the bullet. Something then deflected the bullet, sending it back through the skull cavity to embed in the cheek. I think, the only explanation is it hit part of the brain; what else could cause it to change direction? The trajectory was downward and leftward, so, it didn't hit the top of the skull.
But like I said, put that aside -- for anyone who might believe the brain was not struck by the bullet -- at the very least, the bullet did impact delicate facial tissue, on the inside of the cheek, which has numerous blood vessels. Were there blood in the body, there would be bruising from the bullet impacting the tissue/blood vessels on the inside of the face/skin. ME didn't say that, and I didn't see it when I looked at the picture. So, strictly my opinion, but there was no bruising because the shot came last and the blood was drained by the neck wound.

Question to my co posters.
Regarding the sex tape......was that on the phone that was "lost" and found later in the truck by her aunt? As in while Jodi was already in jail? If it was, isn't that convenient it showed up about the time she came up with the self-defense story? Was she the one who released the sex tape to her lawyers? I need a Jodi 101 refresher. Thank you

In agreement. Abe came off like a blowhard, full of his own uninformed opinions. A few appearances on a marginal cable network have gone right to his head! Like you said, he is massively overstating the importance of this case, and his own role in it.
He said some cringe-worthy things that were not appropriate, I couldn't wait for his segment to end. I have a feeling it might be his last outing on that show.
I changed the channel over to HLN really late last night and saw Vinnie Politan standing in front of a few coffee pots, serving coffee for Ryan Smith and a group of people sitting in a mock jury box. Vinnie was asking everybody how they took their coffee while he added the sugar and cream, and then they all continued to watch "live" coverage of the last day of testimony. The hosts on that network all seem like really nice people... but, wow. I wonder if we should worry about them when this trial is over.
It's possible. I could imagine that she perhaps told him if he ended things with her permanently, she was going to expose him, and that would certainly explain why he insulted her, and followed it up by stating he was going to expose HER for being a sociopath and all that.
So perhaps her motivation was, he wasn't going along with the blackmail and he was going to expose her in return. Pretty good motivation for her to murder him right? If not only was he cutting her off, but he was going to show everyone what kind of person she really was.
I believe it's been said -- can't verify right now -- that between the 26th and the day of the murder, he only had 2 calls with her. It could certainly have been her crying at him about wanting to be with him, and maybe she was not going to use the blackmail to ruin him anymore, and that she wanted to stop him from exposing her, but he wasn't receptive to it. So, she sets her murder plan into motion.
Maybe he thought that with her 1,000 miles away in California, that it was an empty threat and he was taking his chances that she wasn't going to do anything with the tape; until she turned up on his doorstep?
Of course, there's the issue with him apparently having sex with her the day of his murder. Although we don't know that wasn't coercive. But now, she's not 1,000 miles away; she's standing in his bedroom, with the tape, and he realizes she could go to his church group or something, since she was in town. We know he already had some issues in that he and Deanna had to go confess about breaking the rules of chastity; so perhaps he thought he was really in trouble then, and he gave in and had sex with her and agreed to continue some kind of relationship? Or perhaps that they would talk, after he got back from Cancun.
It's possible, with her manipulative nature that she said something like "here, okay I'll take some naked pics of myself on your camera, and that way, you know I won't use what I have against you, because my pictures are your insurance." Perhaps he agreed, if even just to get her out of his house. Maybe she decided that made them even, and then it was perfectly natural to just continue on with some kind of relationship.
Maybe he changed his mind then about going along to avoid the blackmail, or maybe he told her he was still not going to take her to Cancun, and that she needed to get going because he had an important call upcoming, and he had to get things prepared for his trip. She pretends to leave, but sneaks back into the house and catches him in the shower.
Pure speculation of course, but an attempt to explain why he continued to have anything to do with her, especially on the day of the murder. Blackmailing him to keep up some kind of relationship, and to do what she wanted, sounds about as reasonable an explanation as any. At the very least, I agree that the sex tape is very possibly the trigger that set off his flood of angry messages to her.

From what I recall, Jodi had a previous phone that she claimed was stolen, and so Gus Searcy gave her the Helio phone. The Helio was used to record the phone sex, then Jodi claimed it was stolen from her car/family member's car shortly thereafter. She also claimed that her aunt found that phone 2 years later, in the car; so it was lost and never stolen And yes she claims her aunt found her phone while she was in jail.
Jodi's story doesn't hold up though because the sex tape was about May 10th or so. She claimed that it was lost/stolen in mid-May. But, we all saw the pictures taken from the phone the other day, dated June 3rd 2008 and showing Jodi's freshly dyed hair. If she took pictures with it on June 3rd, she clearly didn't lose it 2 weeks prior.
I would guess that she probably gave it to her aunt for safe-keeping, or more likely hid it so that messages couldn't be retrieved, then told her aunt where to find it when she thought the phone sex would come in handy.
From what I can recall, we have only seen messages from Travis' phone; his outgoing and Jodi's incoming.

Right! You take the ME's report and his testimony as a whole. You note the contradictions. You then ask yourself, "How did the bullet get from his right forehead to his left cheek?" Then you apply your reason and logic to arrive at the conclusion that it travelled through the frontal lobe of the brain. It's called circumstantial evidence and it's just as good evidence as direct evidence as would be given by someone who was there and rode the bullet through Travis's head. Juan illustrated that well with his example of footsteps in the sand.

Didn't Arias testify that the replacement Helio 'phone she got from Gus, was to replace the one she had before that got ruined when she put it into the cup holder (of whatever vehicle she was driving) that was filled with spilled coffee? It got so convoluted that I gave up on trying to sequence all of her telephone misfortunes. In any case, the Helio had recording capabilities that her previous 'phone lacked and she was finally able to record Travis's conversation as he had been asking her to do for some time.
Somewhere in there, she used some phone, to take the pictures of her privates in the cramped washroom of Gus's motor home in response to Travis's request. Was that the coffee 'phone or the new Helio?
Bizarre!

I agree with all you said, but I don't know about photos taken at Gus's.
I'm watching videos of Juan's closing at
https://www.facebook.com/Justice4Tra...ocation=stream
The first video was 2 hours. How long did he talk?
I enjoyed watching JM yesterday on my TV instead of the live feed (thanks HLN for no commercials). The part that made me laugh the most was when he called Jodi a "breeder" and said she just wanted to breed.
I was concerned about JM when they came back from the last break. He stuttered a lot and was having problems, but he finally worked it out.
JM pretty much discredited everything that Nurmi/Jenn could talk about today in their closing. He outright called Alyce a liar and fraud. The defense really has nothing to say other than more of Jodi's lies. It will be interesting to see if they at least put up a good fight today!
Could be. Many things happened after May 10th between them. The timeline gives you a pretty good idea that in middle May-their relationship took a huge turn at that point.

SORRY ALL , OFF TOPIC BUT HAD TO ANSWER THIS ONE BECAUSE.....
Oh you are SO in luck! My son has literally just come back from school camp & announced he had a family of 3 wombats outside his tent, munch, munch, munching on grass & indulging in wombatly romps at dusk & dawn every day. Not a common sight in most of Australia. & while we're on this topic Jillee, you & anyone with a thing for wombats has to check out Diary of A Wombat by Jackie French. It's a kids book but the artwork is soooo good &she sums up wombat grumpitude perfectly. The illustrations are brilliant & by a guy called Bruce Whatley who lives about 30mins from us in a town that is swarming with wombats, but is strangely called Kangaroo Valley (NSW, just in case there's a few). I've always thought some colonial explorer was having a bit of a joke with that town name. I never have seen a kangaroo there, but some of their public campgrounds are practically wombat villages. You can pick one & follow behind to watch it's nightly ramble. SO cool!!
ETA & it's screwed the quotes in this one too?? Jillee wanted wombats, in both posts on this page, but the quote bubble makers have gone completely MAD!!! What's going on? This is exactly what happened to loonywop & sneakers the other day. It's going to get very confusing if this starts happening with important quotes & not just my off-topic blithering...

Yes! She testified she 'dropped' by Gus's motor home, (I think it was during her return from Mesa to Yreka at the end of April 2008). She then stated she got a text from Travis asking her to send him a 'picture.' She then went on to say, that because she was incapable of ever refusing Travis, she went into the cramped washroom at Gus's motor home and, with some difficulty, (she implied) she so maneuvered herself in those cramped quarters to lower or remove the clothing covering her 'parts' and take the picture with whatever working phone she had, then dispatch it to Travis. I suppose Martinez didn't think it was significant because I don't recall he pursued it. Even if he had tried to pin her down on which 'phone she purportedly used, she would have had some answer.
Martinez was on the full day on Thursday, May 2. The time was about 10:00 a.m. to 3:45 with the usual 90 minute lunch break. He was an artist and wove all the threads together into a compelling, logical and coherent summary of all the evidence and he proved that it supported the State's theory of the crime. His delivery was low-key, softly spoken and compelling. Way back at the beginning, during the 48 Hours interview, Arias stated, "I know the evidence against me is compelling." Martinez took the word back and demonstrated that was probably the only time Arias wasn't lying despite the fact she was in full deception mode. I'm not alone in saying that Martinez proved to the people of the State of Arizona that their confidence in him is not misplaced.

all of this is much ado about nothing.
If you find a bullet lodged in an inside wall of a house and there's a bullet hole in the opposite outside wall of the house penetrating from the outside to the inside you can reasonably infer that the bullet passed through the insulation BETWEEN the walls... as the ME said it's "geometry' and I'll add it's "physics"
the fact that he made a mistake on his report does not change the laws of physics. A jury (and even I) can figure this out
I was so pleased about HLN allowing a commercial free broadcast of yesterday. I think it was a very thoughtful decision.
I debated about watching Nurmi do his defense. I think he's got to be very creative to counteract the prosecution summary. That, and putting up with his style of lawyering with slow speech in between outstretching that left arm every few minutes to adjust whatever.
Even Willmott looked defeated at the very end of the summation. I was not sure if she was really not feeling well, or was it disgust that what Juan said sunk through her head and she realized she too had been duped by some things Jodi had declared. Willmott didn't seem so warm to Jodi at the very end, even walked away from her at the end.
That was quite the scene at the end when Jodi completely turned her chair around and faced the gallery and no one was by her side nor paying any attention to her. I wonder what she was thinking.
believe it or not there are 2 Walmart's in Salinas (regular and Super-sized) but her testimony was unequivocal that she returned it to the same Walmart where she bought it. The receipt shown in court id's that Walmart as store #2458 1339 North Davis Road in the Westridge Shopping Center
