God, I saw that. Makes me nervous---not because I think she'll be effective (junior high debate club, anyone?) but because the secondhand embarrassment will be monumental.
I admit I'm a bit iffy on Mama Arias, but I think there's a very real possibility that she is sedated beyond belief. It's sad either way.
Damn straight. That is perfectly presented. I was getting nervous until that point.
He was doing so good and then he said the C word! "Circumstantial"...

Cup Toucher is taking notes. Jurors are fully engaged in Juan's closing argument.
ope, not talking about stabby anymore. stop crying. golf pencil in hand
in my state the prosecutor or any attorney for that matter may not comment on the defendant/witnesses' credibility because that's the jury's job - to determine credibility. he's saying she's a liar. that he's allowed to do so is new to me.

Jodi ruins everything...
I think she was frantic in the sense of rushing because of the time pressure due to roommates possibly arriving within 30 minutes. I do not think she was frantic in the sense of 'what have I done, I am so horrified'.
They have cookies.
Possible. It is also possible they gave her valium or something similar so she would not break down and cry and possibly make Jodi look bad (because if your own mom breaks down in tears at your crime, it could give the jury a bad impression). If I were the DT, I would have made sure Mama Arias had a big dose of valium for today.
Juan is usually not quiet, and he is usually very animated. Notice how when he does the opposite (as he is now) the courtroom is absolutely hushed and riveted to what he is saying. You might consider that this is intentional. That he knows exactly what he is doing all along, and that he knows exactly what effect it will have when he quiets way down.
Just sayin'.
Were you crying when you were stabbing him? --SuperJuan Martinez

except he just did an amazing job explaining how important circumstantial can be. Add that to the judge's direction's to the jury that according to the law direct and circumstantial evidence are BOTH important, and according to the law, there is NO difference in the importance in the two.

She STAGED the scene, and she STAGED her defense! Loved that!
This part is for the potential jurors who may watch too much CSI. It is important that he explains to them the difference between circumstantial and direct evidence and how they apply to this particular case. Well laid out JM.
I knew it!!!! Great job Martinez!!!!
Shit shit shit, I fell asleep!! I've missed from when they came back from lunch. Is Juan doing good????
