I assume that Nurmi is trying to minimize their relationship. I.E., Travis couldn't wait for Deanna, or Travis didn't care that Deanna left for so long, etc. Also it was just mentioned that Deanna didn't see Travis for about 2 weeks after she returned.

It seems like he is trying to say that Travis wasn't serious about Deanna, but apparently he was obsessive over Jodi; trying to control Jodi, getting allegedly jealous, etc.
