Better than having the expert testify.
Yes.
Exactly.
Yep
I missed all the excitement... my friend had a minor emergency, so I dashed over to her house to watch her toddler, which I am doing now.
I honestly don't think the stipulation matters. Mildly annoying, but not critical. Juan thought it was better to stipulate than to have the photo pic guy testify with his silly outline. Personally, I never thought Jodi took those pics while holding Travis at knifepoint or gunpoint. I always thought Jodi got Travis to sit down and then pulled out the knife. There is still plenty of time after the eyeball picture for Jodi to grab the knife and start attacking.
So I don't really see this as a setback. And since Juan never argued that Jodi took all those pictures at knifepoint or gunpoint, it is not as if he has to change his theory at this late date.
Were you crying when you were stabbing him? --SuperJuan Martinez

Before I found this thread, I only had HLN for (one-sided) info and debate! Even though I would LMFAO during the CA case, especially at NG, it was a source!
So, THANK YOU ALL FOR RAISING THE BAR.
This time around (JA case) I'm hating JVM, and her stupid two sides of the argument crap (in case our viewers get as big a shock as
they did in the CA verdict???)!
They're not going to tie up the Judge's comments! Just going to leave the Jury dizzy!

That is a great theory--- didn't they find a strip of duct tape in the laundry room? Originally people thought that's what was around Travis' right arm in the nudie pics, but it ended up being a bodybugg.
I don't recall ever hearing any testimony about that piece of tape being marked at the crime scene??

Good call!
It's never easy to be on a jury, even worse to be on a high profile murder trial. Hopefully it gives the jurors a lifetime pass for serving again.
Oh yeah!
Exactly, Jodi could have dug the weapons out of her backpack which was in the bathroom, or got the knife from the nightstand or wiggled her nose to make both appear when she needed them.
He is saving the state time and money instead of arguing silly evidence. Doesnt really matter in the scheme of things.
Dont worry.
Cant wait to see Martinez rebuttal!
Agreed.
Perhaps. But they are like us and will figure it out.
Riiiiiiiight!
Right, why take the risk of further misinterpretation. Its a silly piece of evidence and doesnt matter.
I think it marvelous that the Judge ruled Martinez didn't intimidate Samuels or Alyce. That is the most ridiculous nonsense ever. EVER!
In my viewpoint, I see this as a way of magnifying the SHORT time between Jodi "snapping photos" of Travis (the one following the face shot still shows him sitting on the floor of the shower.....so he still hasn't started his linebacker practice, yet!) and his dead body being dragged only seconds later. That leaves very little time for Jodi to stumble around, as she claims she did, and find that elusive knife and gun. It makes her story seem all the more absurd, and just makes the scant time line stand out even stronger. I don't think this was a good move for the defense.....and I think it gives a leg up to the DA that Jodi HAD to have known precisely where those weapons were, and they would have been pretty much right at the scene. Pre-meditated, NOT on the fly.
Yes there was duck tape in the laundry room and I also dont recall it ever being discussed. Very well could have been from her, I would think though that in the 5 days before he was found that one of the roomies would have seen it on the floor and picked up....but then again neither of them noticed blood on the washer either. Maybe unless they did laundry they had no need to come and go that way.
From my understanding, she took those gas cans, and bought another one on the way,so she wouldn't have any paper trail in Arizona. She may have been unsure whether she would have enough gas to go to AZ, then drive to Utah without buying more gas. The fact that she refilled those gas cans in Utah indicated me to that she did indeed use the gas in those cans, and filling them before returning them to Darryl full. I'm not sure why she needed to refill the 3rd gas can, but she apparently used the gas she put in it.
:o)
I agree. No reason to be upset about this.
The prosecution agreed to the stipulation that she is not HOLDING a gun or knife when that picture was taken. In fact, I doubt she was holding the knife at that moment anyway. Travis is looking directly at her; if he saw the knife he probably would have been able to defend himself better. Since Jodi received very minor injuries that day, I think he didn't see the knife coming until it was too late & the first stab wound must have been significant.
I do think she had the knife hidden on her body somewhere though.
She would need 3 cans total to make it across AZ without having to stop for gas at a gas station. The prosecution is trying to prove premeditation, and this is just one more piece to the puzzle. She was hiding the fact that she went to Arizona and she planned to hide that fact before she even left.
She had three gas cans so she wouldn't have to stop for gas. She also turned off her cell phone so it would not ping off of cell phone towers in AZ.
There is no reason for her to cover her trail via lack of receipts, cell phone records or photo/video evidence (from gas stations) if all she was doing is hiding the fact that she went to visit an ex-boyfriend from her friends. The only reason to do this is to hide this information from authorities.
