Were you crying when you were stabbing him? --SuperJuan Martinez
Nobody believes a word out of your mouth. Why do you keep talking? -- ABC Interviewer to JA
O/T - how long does everyone think Juan's rebuttal case will take? Could we see closing arguments by Thursday? I know it's remote but wouldn't that be great?
After listening to this last round of jury questions I think it's a slam dunk. DP.
IMO
I really don't feel confident venturing an opinion about the jury. The questions they have been asking point to the fact that they don't believe what the defense is selling, but we also know that not all the jurors are submitting questions. We might have one or two that are drinking the Arias coolaid. We will have to wait and see.
Although the prosecution will be bringing in his expert witness, Dr. DeMarte (sp?) and the DT is likely to be in slugfest mode. That one could take awhile. The other witnesses are more technical or factual in nature, so that probably will not be as lengthy. But hey, as we've all seen, ANYTHING can happen! It's like a daily cliffhanger.
I Feel More Like I Do Now Than When I Got Here
Anything less than a murder 1 conviction is a loss for the prosecutor IMO. Nurmi offered a plea deal long ago for a murder 2 conviction along with a threat to ruin Travis' reputation if the state didn't take the deal.
Setting aside psychological assessments and feelings, I believe the prosecution has proved premeditation. The gas cans, the nondescript car rental miles from her home, and the turned off cellphone all indicate premeditation. And the absolute overkill points to aggravating factors.
In order to get the trial back on track, he needs to focus on these facts and let the other BS the defense has muddled this trial with go.
When I was at the academy once, I learned of a story of a small petite woman whose husband routinely abused and raped her. He had a specific pair of boxer shorts that he would wear when it was time for her to put out or face violent consequences. This woman was in the kitchen preparing dinner and had a paring knife in her hand when he walked up behind her and grabbed her in those boxer shorts.
Instinctively, she turned around and stabbed him once with that paring knife and he fell to the flor and bled out. She had hit a major artery.
She panicked and tried to clean the crime scene up but gave up since there was blood everywhere. Ultimately she was not charged or tried in this case, since there was plenty of evidence of his abusive behavior towards her. In addition, she only stabbed him once. There was no overkill. He was also much bigger than her, standing at over 6'4" tall.
Jodi's case has zero similarities to this one. It's laughable, although a valiant effort by the defense, to declare abuse in this case. Sure, their relationship was volatile, but her actions before, during and after the murder, prove to me that this is premeditated murder. She. Deserves a Murder 1 conviction, and I hope the jury comes to the same conclusion.
The way some of these acquittals have been going (OJ, Anthony, Blake, etc.) I don't ever count on a jury. My worry is the men. When I read forums, I'm shocked by the men who say she's so pretty, blah blah. Men can be stupid (no offense) when it comes to young women. There are plenty of men on that jury.
Seems that monday and tuesday aren't full trial with the jury days. The judge is taking care of the motions brought by the defense. There is allegedl.y one more witness that the defense has added ... the computer expert. Then the rebuttal case starts. I heard somewhere that 15 witnesses are on that list. I would say the rebuttal will be 2 weeks at least. They say Juan makes his case in rebuttal. Ought to be tres fascinating
I think JM will put on a short, swift rebuttal and bring the jury back to the reason for this trial. Remember, this has been the Defense case for 2 1/2 months. The Defense will slow it down somewhat if we rely on their history, but I have faith in JM.
You don't have to be charged with anything to require a lawyer. Matt McCartney or anyone else could have requested a lawyer during a police interview, a deposition or prior to a hearing.
Especially passive aggressive ones in manic phases.
Douch?
And de-edify
I see passive aggressive manic depressives
Great catch. It matches up quite nicely
It does. Heart breaking.![]()
This would explain why he was so private about his showering as related by Stabby.
Alyce in her own words "was hired to find domestic violence in this case". Alyce went into this case interview with a predetermined outcome.
Defense hasn't rested. Defense still whining about prosecutorial misconduct and hopefully after Grace Wong from HLN testifies the Judge will finish hearing the argument, deny the motion and get this shit show on the road.
The prosecution in rebuttal (we think) will be calling a Wal-Mart rep to verify NO gas cans were returned on the day Stabby claims she bought and then returned hers. A Tesorro rep to verify that her 3rd purchase in Utah after leaving Ryan Burns was gas and not any other sundry items.A detective who is an expert on computer forensics and possibly a demonstration or photos/testimony of a demonstration disproving Stabby's lie about jumping up on shelving to grab the gun that was never there.
No worries, Alyce can testify for you and twist it so he looks like the perp.

Re the photos. Yes this is a death site, but if you spend some time looking at the rest of the site you'll see that graphic death photos rarely pop up without warning in threads. There might be links to graphic shots, but rarely the actual photos unless it's in the NSFW thread. Even when it's just links, there's a warning for people who might be at work.
Everyone in this thread ALREADY knows exactly why this thread exists. I don't think anyone has come here & posted "Jodi's innocent". Even other people saying she's GUILTY are copping shit in this thread. It's like some people think they're in a competition to show who's the biggest & best supporter of the prosecution case.
If you're going to be honest, then you have to admit that post mortem photos are the last pix his sisters would want posted as s display of "support". If they were given a say, they'd ask you to choose photos of him in life. If they wanted those pix out there as a "message" they'd be doing it themselves wouldn't they? It's ludicrous to claim something that would make his sisters cry is an act of support for them. I'm not going to drag this out for pages, it would be pointless & anyone who agreed with me would probably be called a troll or told to go back to JAII, even if they have 10 pages of "100% guilty" posts. So I'll shut the fuck up & stay that way.
Yes I am but not sure I can make it this week; did you get the dates WT wants checked on the court computers for rebuttal witnesses? I have not found them, skimming through a lot of pages. And she does not take PMs. If she is in Phx she should join us! I think she is...?
this damn thread does suck one in, might need therapy soon...
I realize what this thread is about, but IMO, I think the link to the PM pics should be posted to give people the option of viewing said pics. Freedom of choice if you will. I realize there is a certain degree of irreverence here and that is why some of us prefer this forum to others. But there are people out there that come here simply to get their yaya's from looking at the photos. I have heard it mentioned before that TA's family has read this thread and I would not want them to feel that we are treating their brother with any indignity and not feel the support and respect we all have for them. This is coming from a woman who was reprimanded on this thread publicly in ref. to referring to myself as one of the kids on the short bus and being told how offensive it was. I have a child that has Asperger's, I know what's offensive when it comes to kids with disabilities. In correcting a person on the virtues of being politically correct I think showing a man naked in the state of decomp in the shower for shock value and to prove a point is slightly hypocrital. We all know why we are here. We all want the same thing. All the fighting and nastiness and trying to put each other in their place by flaunting what May or May not be superior intellect because you think you know more than the next person and want to make them appear stupid to stoke your own ego is just silly. I'm not singling anyone out cuz I have seen several people do it for really stupid stuff. I am sure that this very post will be dissected and checked for mispelled words, sentence structure, syntax, whatever. Geez people use your super powers for good. Release the g-o-o-d!! And for those who do smite me or pick this post apart..Fuck you and the broom you flew in on in advance. I am content with myself enough that I don't base my self worth on the number of smites or reps I receive.
I thought this wasn't a murder trial to find her guilty/not guilty since she eventually confessed, but to determine whether or not she gets life or death. Murder 1=Death, Murder 2= LWOP. I don't think acquittal/walking is even on the table. If she's found guilty of Murder 2, a life sentence would probably be 25 years, with time served she may serve 20 more years, but I don't think she can be found not guilty and walk in a month or two when this thing is over.

Sneakers, I was kinda thinking the same thing last night when I was reading over the interrogation transcripts that was what caused him to be particular about his privacy in the bathroom. Damn sometimes parents don't realize how badly their actions impact their children later in life.
I think the jury will be hung before they acquit her. I just can't imagine acquittal especially since they'll have it in their heads her immortal words "No jury will ever convict me"
