To me that backs up the theory of him being stabbed in the chest first, then turning his back to JA. It was a learned response that instinctually took over. Kinda like a woman who has been battered will flinch when someone raises their hand too quickly. I have seen it with dogs too. A battered dog will immediately growl or cower when you walk up and try to pet them from above rather then from below. Ones that have been beat with a belt will usually freak when you approach them with a leash. They don't know the difference between a leash and a belt. Learned behavior..

an attorney expects to be paid for representing a client. they are either paid hourly or on a continent fee basis (meaning a percentage of the verdict/settlement). I would never take on such a case because (1) travis' have no money to pay a lawyer by the hour for a case which would take years; (2) there is no chance of getting anything substantial enough at the end to justify an attorney basically working for free for years until the veridict/settlement. Again, in the OJ case, there was $$$ to justify a civil suit. He was a "deep pocket" if you will.

I agree with your point, I just want her to pay so bad I am thinking about all the possibilities. The worst that can happen is that if she gets 2nd degree, she will be free in few years. But she needs to be reminded the rest of her life what she did. I also understand Travis family most likely wants this to be over, I just cannot stand the possibility of her not getting the punishment she deserves.

Yeah, the witness is Wong from HLN, supposed to testify if she saw any jurors observe JM signing autographs and interacting with "fans" as Nurmi would put it.

She already admitted she killed him, so the civil trial definitely would proceed.
I imagine that Travis's family will probably want to take a breather after the trial and try to piece their lives back together. It would make perfect if there is a murder 2 conviction to wait for a couple years, see if Stabby benefits from her "famous" manifesto and other things, then sue and put her ass in the poor house.

Some states have laws in place that require repayment for their incarceration when the convict has an income. It would be delightfully just!!

Last night was pretty miserable on this thread. I have made a promise to myself to not engage regardless of how inane the rampage becomes. Any takers?

And with that, you worry about a damn giggling bitch even going after their poor dead grandmother for their BS. Excuse me as someone who has known some of the horror first hand, FUCK THE DEFENSE.

This makes no sense. How can you say you feel for his sisters when they cry in court, but then repeatedly attack other posters who have said they DO support a guilty verdict, by asking if THEY have a loved one who's throat has been slashed, & then repeatedly post death photographs of the very loved one those sisters are crying over? How the fuck do you rationalise that?

If his sisters saw YOUR posts of those photos, do you really think they'd consider it supportive? & why repeat a set of questions that weren't seriously posed? Surely you're not going to tell us you would've asked so graphically unless you were sure she'd answer "no"? If you knew she'd answer no, there was no reason to post them other than to try & make her feel bad for questioning your decision. She was right to because Travis' family certainly would. Commenting that someone has "inserted themselves" into this thread is strange. This is a forum not a private conversation in your home. No-one here has "inserted themselves" anymore than you have. Most of us posting in this thread are mds noobs, yourself included.

Yeah, you are right. Lets hope she gets 1st degree!
BTW, if she gets second degree, can she still sell her stuff while in prison? can she communicate and continue with her twitter if she has been convicted?

I would imagine it would be harder for her when she is in jail. Right now, she has access to her mother and Donavan because she is in a public setting. I don't know how she would get her artwork or anything for that matter to them from behind bars. She can have visitors but I think they visit in a controlled setting behind glass. As far as the twitter is concerned, not much point to it after the trial. I'm sure she could get Donavan to continue it, but the interest would go down pretty quickly.

It is my understanding that the jury can come with a second degree resolution, based on the fact (lies) that she was abused and the killing was justified. Anyone care to correct me if I am wrong? thanks!

If the jury believes she was abused and the homicide is justified (self-defense), she would be acquitted. If there is no pre-meditation or burglary, they can decide on second degree.

WOW! I did not know that! so even if she confessed, she can be found not guilty because of "abuse"? that is bs!!

I will only comment on the photo's that WT is posting. I believe that it has been stated that they are being posted to the thread to remind everyone why we are on here. That is to discuss the murder of Travis Alexander. At least that is what I got from it. They are terrible photos no doubt, but when you hear someone constantly calling Travis the abuser or that he could have saved himself, a stronger point needs to be made. I agree with WT on most things not all but i definitely agree on this point.

new thought: perhaps the reason whoever was viewing the gallery by camera last Wed. wanted the bailiff to question myself and the girls next to me about if we saw something with a juror is because we were trying to hone in on juror 2, who sits right in front of juror 11. Maybe they thought we were looking at him and talking about him. He was already being watched by someone? Cocopop sent me some screenshots and you can see my neighbor craning her neck to look. I was literally being preoccupied reaching for water bottle so not to both be looking at the same time. The courtroom camera 'caught' it. And I am sure they could see me leaning to look many times. (I instigated it with those girls by asking if they could see who #2 was looking at, and they were embarrassed by the bailiff coming over to question us. I feel bad for implicating them) The only thing I noticed about 11 is he swiveled in his chair a lot. Besides his general appearance being 'unusual' as you have already heard.

I can't imagine Nurmi really wanting a mistrial, wouldn't he have to represent her yet again? I think it is just standard procedure. He would have to find new experts, these two are done.

RE cameras in the courtroom, I could be wrong but I don't think the judge can determine that, it is some kind of public right of information act. The media lawyers are always filing motions to get their hands on everything. They would go crazy if their cameras were banned. But all in all, for the sake of the trial, I think the cameras are a bad idea.

RE the mistrial with Juan the rock star thing, that one of our local reporters Lisette Martinez is responsible for, it appears to me that she talked to him inside the court house about coming out with her and that the groupies heard that. People would not have been congregated out there if they did not know he was coming. That courthouse is busy, most people coming and going are not even aware of this trial up on 5C (I had passing comments with two people on jury duty on the first floor, neither knew about it). So for that many people to have been out there that knew him had to have a heads up. People do not typically loiter on those steps. I think that reporter was behaving more like a paparazzi than a legit reporter in that instance. Media is self centered.

That is so poignant and unbearably sad to think that may be why he has all the wounds on the back.

A little bit ago, Joey Jackson was on. He said Jodi cannot monetarily benefit unless she's acquitted. OJ was sued because of this. I think he said something about son of sam law (not sure what this is).
