Your reporting the snotty sister was a very interesting tidbit. Sorry you had a nervous time, but glad you are here to share! geesh, so she's one of those, nasty without any cause to be types. And she just happens to be the one that 'found' that lost phone. Quick a clan they are.

I guess anal is always on his mind.

At that early in the game, I had no idea who she was. She just scared me. Teehee. Not so much anymore. Did I mention that Stabby Mom grabbed her leg when she said that there was plenty of room for me. It was like, she had to calm the bulldog down. Weird. That family....not right.

HAAAHEEEE the cell phone goes off!!! LaVi Start looking for help..."ummmm that's my cellphone"! And she's reaching her arm out like "Somebody please get that for me I'm expecting a call". You can tell I am a bit behind you all. Getting caught up.

Does anyone think Dr Dick and Nurse ALaV will ever have an "expert witness" gig again? Jodi ruins everything!!

@placroix.... welcome to the board and thanks for sharing your story about your day at trial. It was very interesting to hear what happened to you and to think that happened to you so early in this trial.. and how far we've come in this. This trial will forever change how I see people. Friggin fascinating! I remember being so glued to my TV during the OJ trial and again with Scott Peterson and of course Casey. But ya know I also remember how I went thru withdrawals when it was all over. I remember standing around a tv at work when the verdict was announced with OJ and the silence that followed. Then when Peterson jury came back with guilty 1st degree I worked in a call center and a note came in a whole office ping.....and as we all read our screens and there was simultaneous applause. And we all know how it felt when we learned Casey was free to go. This is gonna be big.

Just like the DT wants to get in statements that appear to support Jodi's version of things, Juan wants to get in any statements that appear to support the prosecutions version. So if juror X will be more convinced because he heard "Travis said he was afraid", then Juan might as well get it in there. Dot all the Is and cross all the Ts.

I think the fact that none of the alleged abuse by Travis was ever referenced in ANY way in the journals is huge, so Willmott had to address it. For someone who journals endlessly about every facet of her life to leave out something so big is bizarre. The final nail for me, is that not only did Jodi not say "Oh my god, I found out Travis is a pedophile and he physically attacked me as well and hurled me to the floor and kicked me and broke my finger", she does not give a veiled version either (no "wow, life can be shocking and scary at times, do we really know anyone?")... but the most telling part of all, is that Jodi DOES write "nothing important at all to report" about that period of time. Which is absurd. Even if she wants to make sure she does not 'de-edify' Travis, actually emphasizing that nothing at all happened during that time is nonsensical and beyond belief.

It is a problem. Some of those comments in the long text exchange were quite mean. However, I think Juan is doing a good job of showing that at least some of them were true. Sociopath? Yep. Only cries for self? Yep. Worst thing that ever happened to Travis? Yep. So while they do not make Travis look like a choir boy, I think they seem totally justified and right on the money. Hopefully the jury will think so too.

I wish Juan was able to tell what exactly Jodi did or said that was the final straw for Travis and led to that barrage of texts. I would assume it had to be big, for Travis to feel SO totally betrayed. There has been speculation (threatened to blackmail him with sex tape? hacked his accounts again?), but we don't know, and it would help so much if we did.
Even though we don't know why, we know Travis was angry and done with Jodi. The important thing is the timing, May 26, May 28 the gun was stolen, June 4th he was dead. Was it May 17 he told his friend he was terribly afraid of Jodi?
No matter how much ALV wants to pick and choose what she thinks is relevant, the timeline shows the escalation, Travis pulling away and Jodi going after. There was more of this trend before May 17, including Jodi moving back to Yreka and Travis being happy to see her go. I can't wait 'til Juan lays it all out for us.

Placroix, Poppycock, and faq: Thank you for sharing your observations with us. I found your reports extremely interesting and filled with inside information. I was MIA for a bit yesterday, and catching up this am has been a treat. Happy to know faq and Poppy met. Love that MDS lurkers are in courtroom and making contact with you.

thing is Rodney king was an actual bad guy too, you don't go driving in residential streets at speeds of close 100 mils an hour while high on cocaine and then claim to be an innocent bunny. doesn't deserve the beating of course.

I thought a little more about this article about AL getting "attacked" in cyberspace and the issue being brought up in chambers with the judge. It's not an issue for the court... if there were any credible threats made that would be a law enforcement issue (and her office did call the police on one occasion) For the DT to insinuate that there is some kind of misconduct that can be linked to court proceedings is ridiculous... The nature of the crime, the brutality of the murder and the inscrutable behavior of JA before during and after the murder is what has sparked such an interest in this trial. It's human nature. Some people like to watch train wrecks others are interested in studying the psychology underlying the crime and the relationship between Travis and JA. For myself, I'm a "true crime" kind of guy, and a researcher, so I look at people's biographies to get more insight into what happened in this case...

I'll go on record and say I don't like the derogatory nicknames that people use (I don't use them) here or from (there very little) I've seen on the "go Jodi" sites... but it's not my job to scold people or try to control what is said. If it gets too bad I just put people on ignore (without making any dramatic statements about it) I didn't like the campaign to flame AL's book reviews.. but I didn't launch a counter-campaign against it I just didn't participate. Bottom line is, as Brillig said, the "Social Media Cat" is out of the bag... there will always be a tug-of-war between free expression and the various degrees of hate speech and abuse of anonymity the internet provides. For me, I don't like what Alyce is doing in court and it frustrates me and sometimes pisses me off but I don't hate HER, I don't know her, although i do know a fair amount about her life story.

The real point is just as I don't know her, she didn't know Travis Alexander and yet she has chosen to pass judgement on him in a most profound way... casting him as a batterer based on innuendo, speculation, and in a large part on lies...

lastly... she has repeatedly said "I'm not an expert on that" (fill in the blank) "I am a DV expert... and I have concluded that Travis Alexander was abusive"

I would add: "You are not an expert on self-defense law are you Ms. LaViolette?" "So you really can't shed any light on what happened on Jun 4, 2008, can you?" based on her pattern...she would say "that's not my area of expertise"

it's a bit of nitpicking but RK was on the freeway (yes high-speeds 100 mph) and pulled off the freeway and was clocked between 55-80 mph. His blood-alcohol level was found to be slightly below the legal limit and I've never seen anything that says he was on cocaine that night... although he was obviously an addict, at least later in life. I do remember the cops saying he had "super-human strength" and thought he might be on PCP.

This trial is a pea compared to some in our electronic era. Arias is nothing but a small blip in time by comparison. The knowlegable ones at the end of that piece with no agenda to whine as much as Kiefer know the score. Translated it is ... tough shit! Bigger more imporatnt people than a little reporter have tried to stop the masses, camera are still in courts.

I would never advocate for banning cameras from the court room. I believe they should reel it back to the early days of the phenomenon where the cameras were inconspicuous, wall-mounted (no camera operators) and limited to wide-shots. The cameras have literally allowed trials to become just another "realty show" (yes they ARE reality... but) The cameras should be silent, non-influencing witnesses to the proceedings. that's IMO.

But I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way about the recording. Kinda fits in with the newly surfacing may 2008 journal entries that sound like she's talking to someone besides herself trying to convince someone of something?
Snipped some of your post for space.
The second dude is Bryan Neumister (sp?) and actually he was only on the stand for a quick second. The state has absolutely no reason to bash him. All he was is the video guy that retrieves videos. He actually plays no sides in this case...other than he was hired to retrieve the video by the defense team. When he was on the stand, he said he retrieved 5 clips, but 2 were taken off b/c they had nothing to do with the case. Also, he said that Travis' voice was soooo low in the tapes that he had to enhance the audio. When the state did cross with him, they only asked him one question. If Bryan takes the stand again, it probably be to introduce the 2 other tapes or clips.

And apparently Donovan is under Jodi's influence, another Jodi trick. Maybe someday Donovan will wake up and realize she's been HAD, that it wasn't a true friendship at all. She might realize Jodi used her too.

I do not feel bad for her at all, she could have said no to being a witness.

Personally, I'm not going to write reviews of Alyce's book or sign petitions about what a bad professional DV counselor she is.

Her own words speak for herself about her level of professionalism.

I'm not sure why some people feel such hatred against somebody who is a witness on the stand? Maybe most don't agree with her, IDK, but maybe the woman really believes in what she says. Maybe she does believe Jodi??

IMO, I think she is full of shit.. but whatever. Maybe she was only giving half the information. She has already stated on the stand that other DV experts may have come up with a different decision than the one she did. I think that tells you everything about her testimony you need to know.

My husband works in a field where he has to make decisions on things. He'll be the first to tell you that 10 other people could come in and look at the same thing, and all 10 will come up with a different answer. He will also tell you that there are some things that are indisputable facts.

Alyce sunk herself when she talked about stalking. Then she tried to backtrack by saying she wasn't a stalking expert. It was too late at that point. A DV expert, IMO, should have major experience with stalking and stalking victims. If I was on the jury, that would have been the moment that would have done it for me.

I may not agree with her, nor believe anything else out of her mouth....but I feel no urge to bash her on her book that I have not....nor will ever read! That's just me though.
