Okay, we've pretty much established that Alyce is DESPICABLE, Willmott is OMG SOO ANNOYING and Juan is AWESOME...the last 25 pages or so have been variations of those 3 points. Is anyone interested in talking about where we stand in the trial? Just in case anyone is, here are my humble observations...
Martinez has continued to maintain admirable self-control, props for that! He has established that ALV is biased in choosing what she believes and what she does not, and bases her conclusions from a biased point of view in favor of Jodi. Aso, she based her BWS dx largely from interviews with Jodi and Jodi's journals, both of which have been shown to be untruthful (to say the least.)
I'm not sure why he emphasized TA's IM where he says he is 'extremely afraid' of Jodi, knowing that TA joked in the same IM about this, and IM'd Jodi several times that same day. Also, the phone sex tape was made just 9 days prior to this.
Also not sure why Willmott chose to dwell on Jodi's journal entries, arguing that just because she didn't write about TA's 'abuse' doesn't mean it didn't happen. Has the jury seen the journal entries from after the murder where she writes 'OMG I just heard Travis is dead' etc. etc? I don't remember if those were shown at trial or not. If so I wouldn't waste any time on the journals, on either side.
Last but not least, I think the emails, texts and IMs are a problem...they don't lie, and they show Travis had a nasty temper, even rage on some of them, and was verbally abusive. Does that explain or justify the overkill? Not to me, but suppose there is a JAII type on the jury, or someone who has experienced abuse in their life...could this resonate with someone like that and/or plant that 'seed of doubt' that maybe Jodi was in fear for her life that day? I wonder...someone on hln said that the defense isn't going for a home run here, they are going for punts and singles, chipping away. I agree and it worries me.
QUOTE=NCBlonde;3385068]Supposedly, the defense wants to recall the guy who verified the voices on the sex tape. For what possible reason, I can't imagine.
June. Put your money on June. Lonnie Dworkin was the defense guy who they got to play/verify the sex tape. He was as useless as tits on a bull, he and Nurmi were trying to imply that the "Harder Faster" you tube vid that TA watched was porn. It wasn't, it was a just a dumb video of hands dancing or some dumb thing[/QUOTE]
Right?! In case she became famous? LOL
Did Dr Drew have the lip reader on? He said there would be one for tonight. Wouldn't you know, a visitor arrived just as the program started.
I'm watching this crap too! Give me a break
I think Vinnie just showed the shot came last though. As I said before, the bullet casing would eject to the right. If she shot him first while he was in the position he was in the shower, the casing went the opposite way. So, the only way the shooting happened is that she shot him after she had dragged him back to the bathroom (and probably into the shower); casing ejects to the right and ends up by the sink.

Does anyone know who the next defense witness happens to be? Dr. Drew mentioned that they plan to call someone else. Is there court tomorrow (Thursday)?
I was there, right after I wrote that and saw faq's post I went over to this guy in a blue shirt, and said are you faq q? It was and we were chatting and some lady over heard and she is an MDS lurker. It was a real adventure for me, I am sure I will go again with a friend who thought I was going tomorrow, I cant go on Thursdays so went ahead and blazed the trail. If anyone wants details on address, courtroom, parking and so on pm me. More later, still unwinding. Got home at 6, traffic was awful. And I got stuck in a stairwell!
right... it almost became like a Cottage Industry... add to her flippant attitude the fact that she proactively argues that Males being abused is a myth (she literally calls it that) She is outcome oriented and fits the "facts" to fill a pre-exising formula.

I'm not down with this.
Laviolette is proven to be a piss poor witness. Laviolette was given limited information, we find out, and made a bad choice joining this defense -- I've made some bad choices.
But she has done years of good work educating & counseling around domestic violence, which is a significant problem in our society.
She goes into a room with abusers and changes some of their ways.
Alyce has earned a good bit of derision from her association with Arias -- and she's getting it, look at those Amazon reviews. I think that's enough, and hope she'll learn from this mess.
Just my opinion.
Stabby lucked out with respect to if he was shot or stabbed first, since the body was not found for 5 days and had began to decompose. I still believe she stabbed him first. Surprised him as he was getting out of the shower. He would not have been looking at her. The stall was small. He had to either crawl out or get on his knees to stand up. I think she mentioned he was on his knees during her interrogation.
As for texts etc, they can be interpreted in many ways. If I write a friend and say "you shithead" .....is it a friendly joke or a serious slam? The written word shows no emotion.
The same for those sex tapes, they were just talk, that's what phone sex is. Listen, I may be an old coot, but my head isn't buried in the ground with what younger people do.
Dworkin was the computer guy that showed the peen pics that were on JA's hard drive.
There was another guy that came in for about 5 minutes just prior to JA taking the stand that said he verified the voices, right?
No clue why the defense would want him back. I could almost see prosecution wanting him back just because I have always felt there was something off with that phone sex tape. Just doesn't sound "natural" to me. Some of it sounded forced in a way.![]()
Did anyone catch when she initially began to testify and mentioned under her breath...she might not have her reputation after this trial? I also believe watching her, she is realizing she made a mistake in taking on this case. She was not privy to a lot of the lies and actions of Arias, and the defense kept that from her.
Yeah, these defense people have no clue wtf they are talking about. The one guy, Joey something?, just said that a lot of the wounds Travis had were defensive wounds.
Uh no, 3 were defensive wounds; the ones to his hands. Unless the defense people are suggesting that Travis was defending himself by blocking the knife with his chest and back.![]()

Trials are held in boring office-type environments, emotion is kept to a minimum, and they seem mostly procedural and dull, even when discussing very dramatic events. Today when Juan ended his cross examination by asking LaViolette if she was going to read behind the meaning of Travis' words that Jodi was the worst thing to ever happen to him, and then LaViolette minimized the statement by saying it was said in anger and during an argument, it was powerful when Juan overrode her answer and said that the statement turned out to be true. I almost missed what he said because someone coughed over him (there's always someone coughing in that damn room) and I think that Willmott started to talk over him, but when I realized what he had just said, it felt suddenly emotional. I hated that the proceedings just continued on, business as usual right afterwards. Hopefully, the jury felt the emotion of that moment.
