I would try... but considering how long this trial is taking and how mind-numbing some of the testimony has been it was bound to happen that someone would "slip" and say something funny... but in the context, inappropriate. If it was just the chair comment it doesn't seem to be enough to get her dismissed... IMO.

Sandy Arias had made an accusation about Juror 5 previously and she (SA) was questioned about it in chambers. Someone posted the minutes from that day earlier. I think it may have been Metis12 who posted them but I can't recall exactly

I wish I had a dollar for every belly up hard drive I have ever had. A few years back, Seagate sold a bunch of removable hard drives with such a high failure rate during the warrranty that they were recovering data for people as well as replacing the drives. I would venture to say that as long as the platter inside the drive is intact, the data on the drive could be retrieved. It requires a clean room and is very expensive, so perhaps cost made it prohibitive for the state. I wouldn't read too much into a dead hard drive, especially the removable ones from that era. Have you ever droppped a laptop or ipod (bigger ones with a hard drive) and then it quit working? They are sensitive to drops, bump and heat issues and like the Seagate example above sometimes the circuit board becomes problematic. If you ever have a broken hard drive, take it apart and look inside. The issues with the cameras SD card surviving the wash and a dead hard drive are different. Flash drives are not as prone to physical damage (they have no moving parts), which is why newer ipods use flash drives. I have washed thumb drives left in pockets and they are still working. I washed a ipod touch and everything works except wifi on it. If a SD card goes belly up, you can blame your computer or camera for that, or user error for removing it while data is being written.
I suppose you have a point there. Im going insane and I'm just watching from home, I cant imagine how the jurors feel. I agree the chair comment doesn't seem like enough to be dismissed for. That is why I think it was something else. Though if the defense had it out for her, maybe it was enough... I have no idea any more lol

Jurors can eat lunch together, maybe they are even required to. They can talk about anything but the trial. The thought is that someone not on the jury overheard something, possibly a spy for Jodi. If they go below 12 jurors, they get a mistrial.
Jodi always stares at the jurors as they go in and out. One time, while she was on the stand, I saw her smile at someone, then her face quickly changed to a frown. I guess the juror didn't smile back.
I wonder if jurors can get in trouble for telling each other to avoid eye contact with the witch.
I think it is incredible that there are still 17 jurors. They have been there every day, and they probably want to stick it out after investing so much time in this trial. Sad for the 5 who won't get to deliberate.
Ok... Well hopefully they wont lose to many more then! So they arent allowed to talk about the trial at all until its done? Do they get a copy of the transcripts from peoples testimonies?

Nurmi does have a point, but imagine if this jury was sequestered the whole time, madness. Court caseload too high too devote a full days work 5 days a week to the trial, defence tricks of sickness, delays, days and days of useless testimony. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to believe the jurors aren't watching, when I've seen jury selection on other cases I was gobsmacked at how many potential jurors followed no news at all.

I don't know of any live blogs but I follow @WildAboutTrial on Twitter. Thats a good place for live updates on whats going on when you can't watch.
A question I have wondered about too. Juror number five reportedly claimed to have been vigilant - to the point of turning off the news if anything came up. This statement alarmed me, as the news headlines alone are full of the Arias trial slants. I fear Nurmi has a point regarding avoidance to exposure being very difficult outside sequestration. Ultimately, the honour of each juror decides if this rule is followed. Should we not just factor this into reality? Treat jurors as adults capable of being fair regardless of outside influences? How fair is this? How realistic sequestration in cases that last months?
Talking of time, I read a statistic recently that the prosecution case had taken up around 25% of court days compared to 75% used by the Defense. I am not sure how accurate that is or how it compares to average murder trals. I have always scoffed at claims that the prosecution was taking too long.

My mom recently went to Phoenix for a holiday. She said every time she turned the tv on there was something about Arias. She said it was impossible to avoid all of it.

Twitter is always a good supplement. I follow @wildabouttrial and Chris Williams @chrisnews although Chris said he's out on assignment today so not sure how much tweeting he will do. But @wildabouttrial has pretty much minute-by-minute updates throughout proceedings.
Actually, they bought the house in 2005 and the market continued to rise until peaking in late 2006-2007, so the value of the house would have appreciated quite nicely while they owned it. They defaulted on the mortgage b/c they were breaking up, Darryl was moving away and Jodi stopped making payments, and Darryl couldn't afford to keep up with the payments on his own...

And this is a calculated defense tactic. The longer Jodi was on the stand, as long as she didn't act like Charles Manson, the less likely the jury will be to kill her.
Throw as much "expert" testimony as possible at a jury, the more likely one will find enough of a piece to hang onto for no death penalty.
Defense wins if no death penalty. That's their primary goal.

The prosecutor closed on day 9 or 10. What day are we up to now? The defense strategy is failing, the jury now wants to hang the entire defense team.
