I doubt it was a matter of 'ratting' out. If there is truth to the motion at all, she made a statement in FRONT of several jurors.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say if this is indeed a mistrial, how are they going to find a pool of juror's for the next one that are not biased one way or the other? Are they going to pick from a pool in Argentina or something? I know not everyone has been watching the trial but most everyone I know around town here knows about the trial and has somewhat followed what is going on.

This keeps coming up...but today is the first time I've actually been concerned. I just don't see why Travis' family would be back there.

Maybe the fog has lifted and she will remember the stabbing.

I'm actually surprised nothing crazy has happened with the jury yet. It's going on four months now and not one has been released. I am reading the book "We the Jury" written by Scott Peterson's jury and it is crazy how much stuff went down with them. Most of it was during deliberations, but not all of it.

I agree. The only two reasons for them to be in chambers is the ribbons or a plea deal. Doesn't make sense for them to be there for juror misconduct.

actually the law can forbid them if it is prejedicial to the trial, last week all the court observers had to take them off, then jodis fam showed up w/ DM ribbons, and it was turning into a mess, so that could be the discussion

I was a foreperson on a jury years ago in CA. We had one juror openly say in the middle of the trial to all of us that the prosecutor is doing a horrible job and that he didn't think the defendants were guilty. This was a clear violation of the rules, mainly that you cannot talk about ur opinion of the case until deliberations. We also had a mentally unstable juror who was breaking down crying everyday. Both jurors were brought to the attention of the court and the defense wanted a mistrial. We were all thoroughly questioned in chambers and the case continued and no jurors were even kicked off. I think they have to determine that the jurors can no longer be fair and unbiased in order to declare a mistrial. So even if a juror messes up, it doesn't necessarily mean it will result in a mistrial. And in this case there are a bunch of jurors so they can afford to kick one out and resume with the trial as long as everyone answers when questioned by the judge that they can still be impartial.

coconut, you'd be better off looking at what kind of person jodi Arias is. What personality disorder does she have? What are the red flags and how can you avoid people (especially dating people) with this personality disorder?

As a psychologist I know once explained to me, a person with a personality disorder could walk into a room, see you, decide that it's love at first sight and begin stalking you. You don't have to do a damn thing but just be there in the same room.

I'm sure Travis had his ways of pushing Jodi's buttons, but really, it doesn't matter. The main thing that he did wrong was to date her in the first place. The best thing we can do for ourselves is try to avoid dating psychopaths (which is the personality disorder that I think she has). If you begin to suspect that you are dating one, run away. Fast. And don't come back.

Thank you for sharing this. Seems that in the process of interviewing the jurors regarding the Martinez picture taking and signing autographs, one or more of the jurors said juror #5 said or did something wrong. It references possible jury tampering. I wonder if they are saying Travis' family said or did something to juror #5, and that is the reason his family is in the judges chambers?

If I had to, I'd bet that juror #5 is going to be dismissed. Obviously, according to the document, Jodi's defense team wants a mistrial. I'm guessing the judge will dismiss juror #5 to appease them and carry on with the trial.
