This book that Doc provided; it either had to be a pure gift (Which would be professionally inappropriate), or it was something to deal with her "depression" in which case he was acting as a therapist. He's caught either way.

I think she was trying to show Jodi was in her little fog then; that she wouldn't have left the camera behind if her mind was clear. But, we know that most likely she accidentally scooped it up with the stuff she intended to throw in the washer. She certainly could've taken the camera and disposed of it and destroy the SD card, like she did with the knife, gun, bloody clothes and gas can.
