Man you don't think out of the box much do ya?If she held his head up and slashed his from behind sure. The ME stated that there is no bone in the front portion of the neck.He also said it was 3-4 inches deep and did not reach the spine. There is the windpipe and soft tissue the jugular and carotid artery's not much for a sharp intrument to go through easily. It was a scalloped wound meaning one action, not sawed with no hesitation marks. Also from ear to ear on me is 11 inches. The autopsy reports that the neck wound is 6 inches long.He was not able to say left to right or right to left.Which I find strange.

So, she even uses Richard Ramirez's satan star. He used to draw that on his hand to flash it in court.

Yep. In going back to the ME's report he absolutely did not say made by a 1-inch wide knife. In fact, what he said was many of the wounds were SHALLOW and even those were 1 1/2-1 3/4 inch. Now how could a 1-inch knife make 1 3/4 or 1 1/2 inch wounds? It couldn't. It would be the tip, or first half of a 2-inch wide knife.

Notice the mention of a wound that is 5 3/4 inch wound. You can't make a wound that deep with a 5 inch knife. You'd be halfway up the handle.

Full report is here. Where we can see that 1 inches is the MINIMUM that the knife penetrated. Most are 1 1/2, 1 3/4 and so on. No way you can make wounds bigger than the width of the knife.

Yes, there's some irregularity and a lot of that is do to the um the drying of the wound thats happened after death, ah, I, if you inspect the edges it is actually a clean incised and its retracted a bit and gotten a bit larger after death because the tissue has dried and retracted away.

butcher knives don't have scalloped edges they have one sharp continous blade edge .usually are square like at the butchers and are for going through bone.Martinez and the ME explain what an insized wound is as a wound under the surface of the skin.A sideways shallow stab wound .the longest one was 5 3/4 deep and an inch wide. His defencive wounds were 1/4 inch deep by 1 1/2 inch long and 1 3/4 inch long as stated by the ME ..........Not TV

I was understanding of yes it was it was one motion but that the edge of the knife was scalloped like with little teeth not one with one sharp blade

Where do you come up with scalloped? "CLEAN incised" his neck was not a scalloped wound.

Only in Hollywood, if you expect myths to become fact, you are watching too much TV

    http://emedicine.medscape.com/articl...iew#aw2aab6c11
Despite what is portrayed in Hollywood, forensic pathologists are usually unable to determine the direction of infliction of an incised wound. In other words, it is unusual that examination of the wound allows one to determine if the wound was inflicted in a right-to-left direction or a left-to-right direction

Another myth that is perpetuated by Hollywood is the belief that the forensic pathologist is able to determine the handedness of the assailant. Some depictions go so far as to suggest that pathologists might also be able to say with certainty that the attacker was behind or in front of the victim. For any scenario offered as an explanation for a particular wound pattern, there are typically several other scenarios that are equally as possible.

A final series of misconceptions was previously addressed. To review, with stab wounds, the length of the knife blade is responsible for producing the depth of the wound, but wound depth does not necessarily equal blade length. The wound depth can be less than, equal to, or even greater than the blade length. The blade width produces the wound length, but the wound length can be less than, equal to , or greater than the blade width. Finally, the blade thickness produces the wound width, but the wound width can be less than, equal to, or greater than the blade thickness. The flexibility and elasticity of the human body are responsible for these variations. It is worth noting that pouring radio-opaque materials or plaster into stab wounds will not produce an accurate outline of the dimensions of the weapon used to inflict the injuries.

Ugh. I'm sure Travis' family loves that she's doodling and making money while they have to sit there and listen to her team try and defend her sorry butt. Gotta pay for that higher quality jail food somehow...

sorry, no idea where you got that from but it wasn't testimony of the ME, he never said anything like that.

1 1/2 and 1 3/4 are depths not widths.I beg to differ you can make wounds bigger than the width of the knife for they don't come out the same way they went in.The insized wounds tell the story of the shape of the knife.I own a 6 inch x1 inch Sharp like hell ,I call it a pairing knife that could do all this.

Loony, your postulations are completely disproven by the ME's report. But, you are entitled to your opinion. A paring knife would in no way, shape or form make those kinds of wide and deep wounds. That's not TV that's common sense. I don't know where you think people are watching this on tv, is there a "paring knife murder hour?" It's comparing the wound size and depth to the blade, no more no less.

Aside from that, I don't watch tv, minus the Walking Dead and sitcoms. So, I am not getting my knowledge or opinions from crime shows. Try again.

I hope they caught how killer hates her cell that is smaller than Travis' closet and perhaps got a small pang of enjoyment from that like I did.
I'm going to guess they aren't concerning themselves with what killer does in her locked tiny cement cell. From personal experience, you just don't focus on that petty stuff when the brain is filled with far more important things and the heart is so heavy.

Just watch the testimony where the ME says "they are very deep wounds". You don't make deep wounds with a paring knife.

You're arguing just to argue. Because even if was possible -- it's not though -- what difference does it make what kind of knife she used, except that you are determined to be right? It being butchered to death by a 4-inch knife less painful and heinous than a 6 inch butcher knife?

Are you trying to say that because you believe it was a paring knife that that means Jodi didn't bring it or take it with her? There were no paring knives in the dishwasher, only steak knives. All completely moot.

True. I'm sure they are just wanting to see justice for Travis. It sure bugs the crap out of me though! And yes, I love that she lives in a tiny jail cell. Now she just needs to live on death row. If it was up to me they'd never actually get to carry out the death penalty, she would just get to live out her days on death row. A quick and easy death is too good for her.

And I'm sorry for whatever you went through that lets you relate to this so well

[Quoting HELLOAGAIN:*still wonder if she didn't use the blade that Travis shaved with. Wasn't it said that Travis liked to shave in the old fashioned way? I remember seeing the brush from an old fashioned shaving kit on the side of the sink closest to the window in his bathroom (the sink that did not have blood spatter all over it). I've seen the gaping neck wound photos and that wound just looked like a clean slice. I've never tried to cut anyone, let alone slit anyone's throat, but I would think you'd need an awfully sharp blade.]

I remember JM asking her about that and she said a bic. I really don't see that as being the "old fashioned way". I always think of a straight razor when someone says that. Maybe I missed this somewhere, so please catch me up...Was it ever established by anyone if he actually did have and use a straight razor. I remember pic of him shaving. What was he using in the pic?
