How long are they saying she suffered this? I thought it only lasted for a short amount of time, under 10 hours, after which all memory returns.

So she has GTA AND PTSD?

    I think she's just a sociopath.

Well, did this expert diagnose her as a Sociopath?? No...he cannot do that for the very reason the manual he is reading tells all doctors, it cannot be done after the age of 15, if I am correct.

And, she is definitely a sociopath..very interesting labels attached to one. I would cut and paste, but I am now allowed.

But they can't succeed, because the jury will recall that Jodi testified that she did those things to try and cover her tracks. She knew, damn well, what she had done. Her lawyers cannot erase the words that came out of Jodi's own mouth.

They are going to say the lies were because she could not stand to face what she had done, which they will say was part of the PTSD.

(I am absolutely not on Stabby's side, and I don't believe she suffered from PTSD at ALL, I am just pointing out where the defense is going with this info, imho)

Exactly!! That is why I am really not worried about the expert from today.

Right on, AnnieBelle. I forgot she had admitted to those actions. Course she has lied, changed the lie, and lied again. Can't keep it all straight.

?? There is no age limit to diagnosing mental health disorders. Some disorders present themselves at different stages of life, typically....if that is what you might be referring to?

Yep. This is exactly where the defense is going with this.

Exactly. And people with GAB usually ask the same question over and over, they cannot form new memories.

"Perpetrators of violent crime claim amnesia 30% of the time in court."

Wow, that's amazing, Doctor. And here I thought it was just because they were trying to stay out of jail!

I'll have to remember if I ever kill someone to say I had amnesia and PTSD. How much do you want to bet that we're going to see this excuse used a lot more in other cases. Especially if she walks because if it.

Where did you hear that? Because it isn't true and does not say that in any manual.

He did not diagnose her. Dr. Drew had an expert on a few days ago talking about how a sociopath is diagnosed. To get an accurate diagnosis, it would have to be before a 15. I could be wrong, but I thought that is what they said.

And don't forget Battered Woman Syndrome.

(They will use that to try and explain away the actually killing itself, in all its gory excess.)

    Richard Samuels, Ph.D., first blush

    My, my, my.

I looked up the article that he cited "Amnesia and Crime" and read it. here is a direct quote from the abstract:
"Resources on which to build a neuropsychiatric foundation for forensic psychiatric opinions on memory impairment surrounding criminal behaviors are offered."

Perhaps I am reading this wrong, but looks as if the entire defense on this article. Sheese. Wouldn't surprise me.

I am not surprised by the PTSD diagnosis. I figured they would claim PTSD as the first interview was conducted in December, a full 7 months after TA's murder. Jail can be quite stressful.

I just didn't think him very professional...reading from the DSM 4, adding to the diagnosis during trial, the lack of detail in his report. His credentials leave me wanting. The two articles he quoted aren't hard research articles, instead they are review articles which are summaries &/or instructive. Yikes.

I'm gonna look up the other articles he is quoting. He does have a nice chatty courtroom demeanor though doesn't he?

You're not allowed to cut and paste? She can't be diagnosed as a sociopath but she is one?

Oh, no....I enjoy your posts! I am in total agreement with you on this PTSD thing....the defense hasn't got much to work with. I've gotta give them an A for effort. F on their project. But they are only doing the job they are paid to do. Thank God we have JM!

No that isn't right. I don't think they diagnose that disorder in people under 18.
