The lady thats currently on HLN right now (Robin Meade?) just said something about being the only network bringing the trial live and will have coverage at noon (EST). I assume they will bring live coverage with their normal commercial breaks randomly placed.

When I work from home (like I am this week) I usually have the TV on silent and listen to the trial on my computer through my headphones. Leaves for less interruptions

I haven't heard anything. Can't seem to find anything online regarding that issue either. I guess its up in the air at this point.
Like others have said, this is really strange timing to do this, right in the middle of a huge murder trial.
I think this is just a TruTV thing - not InSession. Not sure how that all works though!

Yep. The invention of this machine, put an end to Gregg and Pitman shorthand that used to be a part of young women's secretarial training courses. On a few occasions in the distant past. old-style shorthand court reporters died before they could transcribe their shorthand notes and, since they were difficult for others to read/interpret, Transcripts could not be produced and the record of the proceedings were often lost. The Stenotype machine went a long way towards overcoming a recurrence of those disasters. Of course, when machine shorthand first came in, the old style shorthand purists objected strenuously and looked down upon the new 'technology.'

I took a course in Gregg shorthand, way back in high school! I imagine the new system used today is much more effective in trials!

Most legal experts seem to believe the jury will be allowed to consider lesser charges, as well. A defense of "self-defense" might fall under a category of a justifiable homicide, involuntary manslaughter, or they may not believe her defense but could find her guilty on a second degree charge. Because of the atrocity of the crime, as well as the fact that the DA believes it was premeditated, they rejected her plea bargain. They could also find her guilty of 1st degree, but recommend she get Life in Prison instead of the Death Penalty. Ultimately, it may be the judges discretion to take the jury advice on the penalty, or she can decide otherwise. It works that way in many states, I know. Not sure about AZ.
