Hi all, don't know if this has been addressed here, but from a psychological/profiling stand point, if Jodi was sexually abused and mistreated as she originally claimed... Especially to the degree that led her to murder him with such rage (again, power her claim) , it is almost guaranteed that she would have attacked the "offending part". I.e. his penis. It's very common for victims in especially heinous sexual abuse cases to mutilate the genitals if they retaliate.

Unless I'm mistaken, his genitals were one of the only parts he WASN'T stabbed in . Is that correct?

    Just my observation.

has there ever been an estimate of how long this will on on?
Probably for a litte while longer. I can see Jodi on the stand for another week or so. Nurmi will ask all those questions JM wouldn't let her explain futher on-which was most of the questions. So Jodi will be spending a few days explaining in great details. Then JM gets to question again. The jury questions will come then. No telling how long that will last. After the jury question-both the attorneys get to ask more questions. It will be awhile.
I don't think JM was finished with his questions yesterday. He just doens't want to wear them out like Nurmi did with the endless blah's. JM knows he has more days to come.
Jodi will get comfortable on the stand again-and she will probably mess her story up even more.

I want her to never get out. I will be okay with LWOP, but the DP would be good and even better. I want to see her for real cry because her future is GONE.

They say she doesn't even look at her mom when she comes off the stand. Like she acts like she isn't even there. They think there is some deep shit between mother and daughter going on. How could you be on trial and have the support of your mom and aunt and not even acknowledge them?? I don't get it. I don't think Jodi is a very nice person IRL.
Jurors are strange. There is no way you can ever know what 12 people are thinking as they are watching all this go down. All it takes is ONE person to have pity for Jodi.
By Jodi's own words-she is at least guilty of Murder 2. The argument is if she planned to kill him. That is really the only thing she is disputing the state about.

I suspect Jodi and her mother have had an up and down relationship. Doesn't matter-most mothers still love their kids. When everybody else turns on you, mama is still there.

I did happen to notice as I was scrolling through that there is a picture -- a legal exhibit, #68 -- of knives in the dishwasher. I know someone else had asked about it in the last couple of days, whether police had checked. There's definitely nothing in there bigger than your standard steak knife, and there's no way a steak knife inflicted those wounds.

I'm not exactly sure, but I do believe all those shows JVM, NG, etc.....have lawyers on. When the trial first starts, they assign a lawyer to either be pro or anti lawyer. More like a pretend game. It's not like the lawyers actually believe the story- they are just suppose to speak like they were either the state or defense. With every new case the show moves to, the lawyer is assigned a different position to support.

I remember during the Casey trial, some lawyer was assigned to speak as being for Casey. I remember during one of the shows she went "I have nothing. You guys assigned me pro Casey, but I have nothing" and the whole panal started laughting.

Well, that makes me feel better. I used to watch Nancy Grace a loooong time ago when the show had a little more substance (LOL), or maybe it was less like a 3-ring-circus. At any rate, it's not perfect, but it's really the only *fix* we can get after court recesses for the day... LOL

Saw that as well! Infuriating, as she was not only questioning her MO, she actually believes Jodi didnt go there with the intention of killing him. Really? The stolen gun, the gas cans, dying her hair, the license plates, turning her cell off, etc., all scream premeditation.

I don't think she went there for the soul purpose of killing him; I think it was an option she left herself, if she couldn't convince him to take her to Cancun, drop the new gf, "apologize." For her to have inflicted so many horrific wounds/the overkill, he must have said something that sent her over the edge, i.e. "it's over, Jodi." Plus, she couldn't have been sure that the roommates weren't home, that her "toy gun," even if she shot him at point blank range when he opened the door, would have killed him. She had to get him into a vulnerable position.

Thinking that he could have been on that trip, that he probably would have seen her and they could have seen those things makes it cruel and tragic where Travis is concerned. He was far from finished with Jodi, I wish she would give an honest mea culpa and explain why she did this

(I have no explanation for Nurmi's nose-goblin problem)

One of my cats has both his feet in the hole in the bag pulling the litter out, another is rolling in it and 2 more are digging around like this is way better than a little litter box. I missed a lot of the trial this afternoon. The cat litter was sitting in the kitchen because I have a torn rotator cuff and couldn't carry it into the house, so one of the kids brought it in and left it in the corner. So I ended up moving 40 pounds of cat litter by sweeping up 40 dustpans full. I warned them I might go Jodi on em.
Oh, my... the parallels here are startling. I fell on my left shoulder 3 weeks ago (luckily not torn RC) and I'm in a shoulder brace AND I have 4 dogs wreaking havoc on my life while I neglect them because of the trial...

I think I saw where Sheriff Joe broke his shoulder... did I dream that?

Sorry to say at the risk of emotional reactions, that isnt reality. They said the same and much more in CA case.

From my pessimistic view, we won't see DP. Shit, if the sleepwalker can stab his wife 44 times, then drag her to her death and drowned her = LWOP, I have no excitement JA will get the DP.
Gah, yeah, thanks for bringing up the parents because I recalled hearing that Jodi was sent to live with the grandparents (because the parents were having issue with her... don't remember if it was after the baseball bat incident).

Of course now that's all been forgotten and she's a perfect angel w/ no history of violence (hear that, Bryan Carr?). LOL

I think JM was trying to spare the family in some sense. He didn't go overboard with the pictures. The one that I was hoping he would have shown after showing the back picture and pointing out that he she was in no immediate danger was the defensive wounds to his hands. HE was the one defending himself, not you.

I hoped that Juan would go through every gory photo but now I'm glad he didn't. He can revisit the pics again if any new information is presented in redirect testimony next week.

O/T - has Ron from NY been here lately? I am curious how he reads ja's testimony yesterday about dragging Travis down the hallway - by herself. He has been so passionate in his belief that she could never done it alone. I am glad that issue was resolved by her own testimony.

Also O/T but does anyone else wonder why ja did not blame the murder on Bobby? He was killed shortly before her arrest. Right? She could have blamed it on him as a jealous lovers revenge. Like Travis, he would not be there to defend himself. At the least she could have alleged Bobby was the male ninja.

People keep calling Ron out on this thread not realising he doesn't give a shit Also, I'll tell you what Ron will say to that (in a nicer way) - just because that's what she said on the stand doesn't mean she's not lying and covering up for the person that really dragged him.

I think it was established it was the wrong Bobby. Besides, she tried to blame it on other people, but the fact is - there's forensic evidence showing she was there and directly related to the murder. Whether or not she had an accomplice, she's guilty.

I have to agree on this point... She is a proven liar so you can't prove or disprove anything by what she said on the stand. You have to stick with the forensic evidence.
I know there are probably grains of truth in her testimony but unfortunately we will never know which ones they are.

I read somewhere, and I don't remember where and now I can't find it, that cutting the throat has some sort of sexual symbology. I can't devote much time to finding it right now, but I'll keep looking later.

(not that I think her claims are true, I just found it interesting)

Ron doesn't watch the trial, he just likes to come in here and stir the pot.

-I'm VERY glad Martinez didn't go through each and every death picture. Jodi would have LOVED playing the victim on the stand to Martinez's "cruelty" and "bullying." She would have been very dramatic in breaking down and this could have turned the jurors against Martinez. Most people are not lacking in empathy the way Jodi is. Thank God.

-I think Martinez struck a good balance. He displayed a few to correlate with his questions. He can bring them all out again in his closing statement. If he does it in his closing, the emphasis is on Travis as the true victim (not Jodi.)

-Are we positive that Martinez gets a chance to recross Jodi? Have any of the witnesses been "recrossed" yet? I don't recall anyone. But I could be completely wrong. I only recall direct, cross, and redirect.

-I am dreading Jodi answering questions from the jurors. She will go on and on "explaining" everything to her benefit. Can Martinez direct her to only answer yes or no?

-I am still so disturbed that Jodi dragged Travis to the shower, crammed him in the tiny stall, and washed him off. I think she did it because he was so completely covered in blood. Even after she washed him, he still had quite a bit of blood, but nowhere near what it would have been. She knew, even in her murder fury, that his body covered in so much blood would be worse for her if she were ever caught.

-Seeing his body crammed in the bottom of that shower in such an unnatural position really bothers me. She allowed him no dignity. A lot of murderers cover their victims naked bodies with a blanket. Especially if the murderer knew the victim. I wonder if she enjoyed the fact that Travis would be found in the nude, in an unflattering position?

-She did close his eyes. But, that was to her benefit. She couldn't stand seeing the "death stare" as she went about her clean up process.

-She did a crappy job at the clean up, but she managed to clean up some of it. Imagine if she didn't do any cleaning up and splashing water around? Now imagine if Travis' bathroom were white instead of dark orange. His tile and wall color lends itself nicely to a bloody crime scene. The blood left behind almost blends in. It would look so much more gruesome if the bathroom had been all white. I can't even imagine.

Has anyone thought she was initially planning on cutting the body up&that's why the throat slash was so bad? Like she started to decapitate him but then realized there was more blood than she anticipated? Also I don't think she meant to throw the camera in the washer. I know I have been in a hurry & threw trash in the washer & a clothing item in the trash. I imagine she intended to keep the camera so she could review what she had done to stroke her ego.
