I just crunched the numbers and it's actually doable if she filled up her tank beforehand (I forgot about that), which she probably did. It's 700 miles from LA to Mesa to Las Vegas. A 2007 Ford Focus (don't know what year she had so guessing) supposedly gets about 29 mpg, so she'd need approx 24 gallons. The tank held how many gallons? 10 or 12 I think they said. So with the two 5 gals, she'd have 20-22. She'd need the third can that she bought at Walmart (and most likely did not return like she said she did).

She did. She had a full tank in her car, then filled up the cans. She didn't return it. Another lie!

I've driven the route from Mesa to Las Vegas quite a few times since the murder. Miles and miles of freaking desert. Damn thing could even be at the bottom of Lake Mead for all we know...

when did she say she returned it - i checked and she could only return an item like that to the same store and only if the wrapping was not distrubed because it is made to contain flamables and if it could have been used - they don't except returns

Nope, they can't use ballistics to definitively prove it's the same weapon. It's strong circumstantial evidence that when added with everything else makes a very compelling case. Jodi herself earlier said that Travis didn't own a gun, and Jodi's claim that the gun belonged to Travis isn't credible because there was nothing (like Travis also owning bullets for that gun) to corroborate it.

Ron, HER defense is self defense and it's totally useless to keep asking about an accomplice. Since no evidence exists and she is not using it as a defense, the jury cannot consider it.

Did she plan this with someone, because if she did I think that is felony murder. Did she bring this person with her or did he just show up at the scene by chance when Travis was starting to attack her?

Can you give me a version with an accomplice...who it might be, how it came about? If this was your brother or your son, would you be out looking for the one armed man or would you be believing the woman who says she did it?

What purpose was served when Juan Martinez tallied up the total of Jodi Arias's cash purchases of gasoline to $185.00, before starting on the last leg of her trip to Mesa? (from Desert Centre?) After this, he said, Jodi would have spent all the cash she testified she had when she left Yreka (not more than $200.00). Does anybody think he's setting her up for an accusation that she 'stole' cash from Travis after killing him. If anybody in Salt Lake saw her with cash, or if the police found receipts for anymore cash purchases on the drive back to Yreka, she is in deep doo-doo, unless she can prove she withdrew cash from her bank account through an ATM. Interesting?

Remember this, while she was still clinging to the Ninja story, Jodi said the guy took her money out of her wallett when he went through her purse, but that he didn't get the $80.00 she had tucked in the back pocket of her jeans? That part of the story may be one of the true facts, but where did the money come from?

It's too late for her to say that Travis gave her money, even if he did. Maybe Jodi told Travis that she spent all her cash on gas coming to see him guilted him into giving her er $80.00 so that she could continue on to Salt Lake. It would be dynamite if Martinez could bring out some evidence that Jodi ended up with money from Travis because the presumption would be that she stole it after killing him--and that's another felony mixed in with the murder.

I was just thinking this today! To me, it was the very moment where JM showed her the pictures of the headboard and she got busted in her lies and then she got that really sad look on her face. It kinda looked to me that she may have rehearsed this "fake" event in her head so much that she actually believes it. That's why she has a hard time with answering his questions straight on because if it varies AT ALL from the way she memorized it (even using different wording for the same things), she refuses to admit it. Even if she just admitted last week during defense questioning...she can't get past the stored "memory" in her head.

If she wanted to rent a car and park her car obviously in front of her sister's house then I would think she told the sister, oh, I am going to Utah but don't want to put mileage on my car. Her thoughts were that her 'stupid' sister would believe that and when it came out that Travis was murdered Jodi had a half ass alibi with the sister that she was going to Utah. Why hasn't the sister or whoever drove her to car rental place been deposed? Or have they?

I thought I remembered hearing that from the ME as well, but I'm not 100% sure either. Ian, I think the point JM was making today about how much cash money she spent might have been to substantiate the allegation that she used the gas in the gas cans rather than stopping for gas and paying cash. Because if she did, she'd be broke.
