I am a parent. If either of my kids had been molested, I'd want the perpetrator to be locked up for good. But murder is a worse crime, bar none. You can't came back from death.

This whole discussion reminds me of a hundred plus years ago when women who were raped would kill themselves because they were considered ruined. Being dead was better than being a rape survivor. It's an idea I find repugnant.

I won't lie though. Your brain/thinking goes to a very dark place when your children are hurt. I'm not sure I could even explain how we felt that day we found out. My husband is such a strong man. A Mr. John Wayne type. A rock. That day was the first and only time I have ever seen him cry like a baby.
People really don't realize how sucky the law is when it comes to child molesters. How some state/ or even counties or parishes have such lax laws.

I can't even imagine how I'd feel. It really is something I'm paranoid about. I have a hard time letting my kids out of my sight. The law does suck when it comes to child molesters. The guy who molested me (and another neighbor girl) got a slap on his wrist. He had to quit his job (as the local swim instructor) but that was it. I found out later he molested his cousin as well. But again nothing ever happened to him.

I would want them locked up forever too. Our laws are not nearly strict enough with child abuse. A pedophile cannot be cured and racks up many victims before they are caught. Since there is no cure, I strongly believe they should be locked up until the day they die.

I agree. When I was young, I always said a rapist would have to rape my dead body. I since realize that there are some situations that we can't get out of and staying alive is by far more important. Sometimes there are situations where you can't get away, do what you can to survive. Living with rape and blaming yourself can seriously screw up your life.

I'm so sorry that so many of you have had to deal with being a survivor of molestation. I'm glad you felt comfortable enough to share. There is not one thing you did wrong! You were a child and the abuser deserves to spend their lives in prison. I admire animosity, zeebee and Sister Bermstalker for speaking out. Child molesters need to be brought into the light, so we can avoid the thousands of Jerry Sandusky's out there. It is way too unreported.

i have no idea what i would do is someone molested my babies, nieces or nephews. i'm so sorry you guys went through that (still dealing with it).

You're 100% right, there is no cure. Even chemical castration doesn't work. Prison with no access to kids is the only option.

Me too. I adore all of my kids! I think she is a mental case and needs to be locked up. So many of us have faced abuse of one sort or another and I'm pretty sure none of us resorted to murder. To kill him with the depravity she did, is mind numbing to me. I kept going back to an exbf because I was a glutton for punishment. He used me and I let him. I kept thinking (in my 18 year old mind) that he would love me the way I loved him, never happened. I moved on finally. I don't blame him for my being brain dead where he was concerned, that was all on me.
