I don't think anyone in their right mind would think Travis deserved to be murdered. My opinion of him is that i think he was a jerk. He played games with Jodi's mind.

No mature adult man or woman would be fucking around with someone who had slashed their tires. No one would play games with someone who had issues like Jodi did. He knew she had problems and he knew he was leading her on, by having sex with her. He was 30 years old, not 16.

The 19 year old ex girlfriend of his was being used for his good boy image and Jodi was the slut. Of course he did not bother the 19 year old for sex...he was getting it from Jodi.

Travis let her in his home, Travis had sex with Jodie. Travis knew she was obsessed with him, he did want to let her go. He could had prevented his death if he was not so selfish.

It was a wrong and dangerous game Travis was playing with Jodie.

You nailed it. Every bit of it. But be prepared to be told that since he was neglected as a child he has a free ticket for being a douchebag because that created abandonment issues, mommy and daddy issues and whatever else they want to throw in there. All bullshit. As an adult he was responsible for his own actions. He wasn't too damn dim apparently, as he seemed to be quite successful at making money. He was just as you said, immature. He wanted the best of both worlds. Being respected as good little Mormon boy by day and dicking down the town slut by night. He knew exactly what he was doing. He also knew that Jodi was genuinely in love with him and that he would never be in love with her. Yet he kept playing with her emotions. He lead her on time and time again.

I am wondering if Travis paid for the boob job? Could that be the BLOCKBUSTER BOMBSHELL, that the defense has?

Travis wanted Jodi for sex. He did not have to have her in his life once they broke up. Travis was a grown adult, if he did not want her in his life, Jodi would not had been his life. She could had called him, emailed him, text him or even follow him, but she could not get into his home and bed without his consent.

Don't tell me he was just being nice. A nice guy would not had done what he did by leading her on. He would had taken control of the situation and Jodi would had moved on. He used her and mentally abused her, not sure of physical abuse.

That would totally backfire if they are saying he was attracted to little girls... Larger breasts would make her appear more womanly, less childlike.

See we got some women in here that have been fooled into anal before.
And affirmative action is a very nice term for racial discrimination against better-qualified white people in jobs, employment, promotions and scholarships, and college admittance.

So Jodi is just this innocent poor little girl that had no control over her actions? And by actions I don't mean the murder but her going to back to him again and again. Travis was old enough to know what he was doing, Jodi was too. Why does she get a free pass when it comes to their relationship? She was crazy so she couldn't help herself but Travis was a 30 year old so he should've known better, and he is a guy so he couldn't possibly be as emotionally damaged as her. No, he's just a db.

Nope Jodie was sick with obsession. A mature adult will know when it is wrong and dangerous to keep using someone for their needs. Jodie could had helped herself, but Travis needed to say no to her. He needed to stay away from her, no contact.

You are not getting the point! Travis messed with Jodie's mind, he knew she had problems and he knew she slashed his tires. He knew she could be dangerous. He kept her as his dirty secret, he used her.

I am not saying Jodie was right, at all. Or did she the right to kill him. She was sick with obsession and Travis pushed her to the point of murder. Every time he had sex with her it only kept her coming back, thinking that he did really care. Then he would tell her go away and then he would play the game again with her.

good luck on a child molester getting life in prison. You're lucky if you can even get them in a detetion center for any amount of time.

My daughter's molester got 6 mths in a detention center (a country club), a little probabtion, and had to take sex classes and register.
He wouldn't have even got 6 mths if I didn't fight for another judge and DA to come in from out of town because he was kin to everybody.
Even before a new judge and DA came in, he had already admitted it. They all wanted to plea him out with a hand slap. Even after they changed the judge and DA, the new DA still wanted to plea the case out.

Not to get involved in anybody's disagreements on here, I am thankful that my daughter is alive and the molester did not kill her body.
The fact is....he did kill a little bit of her that day, though. I suspect any child that has been hurt like that, it kills a little of their soul. They go to a very dark place and you have to work very hard to get them out of there.
BUT, I am very thankful that I am given the chance.

    Just my 2 cents.

I'm getting the point, I'm just not agreeing with it. He could've been just as hung up on her, not having the strenght to cut it of. You can know someone isn't the one for you but still have feelings and still find it very hard to stop being in that relationship. Jodi could've manipulated him just as much. The fact that he knew she had problems might've even made it harder for him, not wanting to hurt her.

The real point is that we don't know what's been going on between them and I don't think you can judge someone as being a shitty person all around on the little info we do have.

A mature adult might know that it is wrong to lead someone on but a mature adult should also be able to see when she's being used and when it's better to move on. She obviously wasn't very mature about it, maybe Travis also wasn't mature about it all. But somehow she is the poor girl being used and he is the db that should've known better.

Omg, I am so sorry you had to go through that. No words can comfort you on that, but I'm so glad she is a survivor and I hope her days continue to get brighter.

Obviously, you're glad to be able to spend life with her regardless of what happened and comparing rape to murder in the sense of "which would you rather have?" was ridiculous for animosity to even suggest in the first place. The discussion started with bryan saying something along the lines of what Jodi did being less excusable than a child molester molesting a child. I disagree wholeheartedly. The point in that argument was, at least on my part, is that a child, an innocent child to be violently violated when they have zero means of defense does not in ANY way compare to a 30 year old man being murdered by a woman that clearly showed him all of the signs that this could happen.

Life sentences are handed out for child molestation, they're just not as common as the lighter sentences. There would be death sentences handed out in 5 states for child molestation had the Supreme Court not overturned the decision 5-4. That was a very close decision. Which was also my point. That clearly I'm not the only one who shares the sentiment that child molestation should be punished with a more harsh sentence than some murder is punished with. Every murder conviction is not death penalty worthy. I will never agree that all murder, just because it's murder is worse than hurting a child. No fucking way. Never. Taking the innocence of a child is the ultimate. Bottom line.

Again, I am so sorry you and your daughter had to go through such terrible pain and I wish you and your family all of the best.

Totally judging. He was a shitty person in my opinion. So yeah.

I can't even believe you'd attempt to suggest that Travis was manipulated by her. He was manipulated by no one. Hell, based on everything we know he was too into his own damn self to be manipulated by another person. He was an arrogant, egotistical, self-serving manipulative bastard.

She slashed his tires. Twice. She sent emails to girls he was dating. She harassed him. The list.goes.on. Yet he still went back to her and he let her come back to him. Sorry, but no one forced his penis inside her. He did that all on his own. This poor little pitiful Travis that you're describing sure wasn't poor little naive, mentally underdeveloped Travis when it came to being successful in his career. He made great money and I don't think that would be possible if he had a mind of a 16 year old as some of you would have us to believe.

The fact is that Jodi killed him and nothing excuses that. But what is also clear is that Travis is not saintly Travis that spent his free time shining his halo and reading scriptures from the book of Mormon as team Travis wants everyone to believe. Sure, Jodi deserves to pay for what she did to Travis, but what does she need to pay? All this talk of how we don't know the facts can also be applied in Jodi's defense. We don't know how actually treated her, not for a fact. So it'd be just as fair to say to you to quit denying that he may have actually pushed Jodi over the edge with what went on behind closed doors. Even if he did, does it excuse murder? Absolutely not, but don't pretend to know what went on on one side if you don't know the other.

Which is worse, murder or child molestation? Of course both crimes are heinous, but at the end of the day, someone who is molested is still alive.

In this case, you think child molestation is worse because you think Travis was complicit in his own murder by treating Jodi badly, so you care less about the victim.

    Use some critical thinking skills.

Wrong. Hypothetically speaking, if I were given the option to choose the penalties for two random crimes, one being a murder and one being child molestation and I could only use the death penalty on one, guess who'd get it? The child molester.

you'd benefit by using some of those critical thinking skills.

I absolutely agree that child molesters are up there with murderers. While they may not take their physical life, they do take a part of their innocence which can lead them into a dark place and without help can continue into their adult lives.

I agree, it's up there. But the taking of a life is definitely worse, IMHO.

    Jesus.

Go back and read my posts. The argument was that what Jodi did to Travis was less excusable than a child molester molesting a child. I disagreed. Then, bryan argued that 1st degree murder was worse than child molestation. Namely, that Jodi's crime was worse than child molestation. Again, I disagree.

This is what animosity said to me "if you meant to say, 'when i think the victim of the murder is partially to blame for the murder, then it is less severe a crime than child molestation in general,' then you should have just said it."

And that's not true. In Travis' case, yeah, I feel like he knew this could happen and he took the chance. Now, he's dead. But regardless, blame has nothing to do with my feelings on molestation/murder.

You don't know that. You don't know what he might have been manipulated by or what may have motivated him.

He did seem very preoccupied with money, power and prestige. A lot of people who focus on these things neglect to focus on their emotional well being. From the testimony given by Lisa about their relationship, he seemed emotionally immature or stunted. Given some time and more experience, he may have matured emotionally. Or not, some men never do.

This does not mean he was "poor pitiful Travis". Nor do I think Jodi was "poor" or "pitiful". They were both damaged human beings who found each other and probably used and manipulated each other. I have seen this type of toxic relationship many times. But they usually end through natural means, as one or the other ends the relationship, not murder.

You tend to say all these disparaging things about Travis and then half-heartedly tack on at the end that you don't think that means he deserved to be murdered. But I wonder if, in the back of your mind, you actually do think that.

you'd benefit by using some of those critical thinking skills.
You clearly believe that child molestation as a crime is worse than murder as a crime. You've stated as much in different ways time and again, regardless of what spurned this discussion. Read your own posts.

That's on you. I'm not concerned with what you think I think.

Just because I think he was a terrible person doesn't mean I think he deserves to die. If that were the case I'd want half the human race wiped out. Be real. He didn't deserve to die, but I'm not sure she deserves to die either. Maybe she does. I'm undecided on that. At a minimum she does need to sit locked up for a lifetime, but to take her life I'm not so sure. I don't think the jury will think so either.
