You know we will! I'm glad it's winter. Great excuse to hibernate and obsess on this televised trial. The CA case was in the summer...much harder to justify.

Wow that's crazy. Do they think he's innocent or do they just think he's a changed person? And is he out?

Here is my missing piece...I have plenty of info on Travis (childhood thru almost adulthood...clinically speaking the adolescent brain has just started to develop at into an "adult" brain at 24) but I really don't have all that much info on Jodi's childhood....if anyone can chime in on PM on this I would be greatful. It will just help me to develp a more clinically rather than personal opinion. On that note I think she is GUILTY as hell!

When she was finally desperate enough she made the decision to see if he was going to choose to have her, or if not, nobody would. She was on the wire with his Cancun trip coming up. That killed her. Mexico and an area not too far from Cancun is in the "1000 Places to See Before You Die" book that her and Travis read and were already visiting those destinations.

I think that when she didn't get the hint and probably stalker called him or harassed him of FB, he had to be harsh with her because he, like anyone would be annoyed. I've said some pretty mean things when I am annoyed or mad.

That alone shows that Jodi has something wrong with her. I think she always did, but Travis is finally what made her snap. She's a pretty girl who always got what she wanted and Travis offended her and everything she thinks and has known by rejecting her.

Sorry for the TL;DR. Just some thoughts.
I thought the not-really-so funny part was that Jodi had no idea that Mimi or whoever had said she wasn't interested in Travis and that they were just going as friends.

I agree with you here on the fact that we don't have much info on Jodi's childhood and it would really be interesting to know what her childhood was like. I wouldn't profess to make any clinical opinions on people I haven't met, but from what I have seen, and ignoring the murder but judging just by her behavior beforehand, I don't buy Jodi's characterization of her childhood as "ideal," as she called it in the 48 hours show. From the pictures we've seen of her grandparent's house where she lived it looks like she came up in pretty modest circumstances. We know she's a high school drop out. Her behavior in a relationship screams abandonment and daddy issues. Travis is the one whose parents literally abandoned him and both died, so he had those same issues but tried to hide it under a larger than life confident persona. Yet something had him going back to Jodi despite all his professed ideals. Maybe the comfort of knowing she was in the same boat and would always be there for him when he came calling at 2 in the morning, and all her crazy felt somewhat comfortable to him because it's what he knew from childhood. What caused Jodi's abandonment issues (desperate not to have Travis leave her), low self esteem ($300 boob implants), and lack of a real personality (adopted his beliefs almost immediately)? I wouldn't be surprised if she dealt with some kind of profound abuse growing up. I mentioned earlier in the thread her behavior to me screams that she was the victim of sexual abuse. Her inability to walk away from the relationship when Travis said he didn't want to marry her but still wanted sex (which she admitted in 48 hours was hard to deal with and why she moved away). People who are abused are often unable to act in their own best interests and come to their own defense, and build up a lot of internal conflict and rage. The way Travis attacked was something you'd expect to see from a battered woman who had been harboring pent up rage from years of abuse. I think Jodi didn't see Travis as Travis, she saw him as her abuser from childhood. There's just no way someone would attack someone in that personal of a way without there being some serious deep issues that had been triggered from years of pent up rage.

I think his dick is slightly hard in the pic, which is why he is kind of using his fingers to push it down. However, I'm not well versed in uncircumcised dicks, so I don't know the technicalities of it as far as what level of hard it needs to be before it doesn't look as uncircumcised.

He molested my niece and although my sister pressed charges, she and my niece (who was 3 at the time and I don't think she remembers that it happened) go and visit him. I think it's sick and my mother tells me that brothers and sisters and family are the most important things in life and she doesn't understand why I don't have a relationship with either my brother (or sister). It is not discussed in my family. "He knows that he 'did wrong' and he is paying for it and has found Jesus".

He killed a guy who was dealing drugs to the neighborhood children (middle class neighborhood) and who was also letting the kids have sex with his wife. It was a messed up situation, however I told my mother what was going on and again she looked the other way and wanted to keep him happy because he wanted to mess around with this couple I think. I really don't know. My brother told me he was going to kill me right before he killed this guy. I knew he had a gun and I lived in fear until he was arrested. Apparently I am not allowed to feel anger over this threat and my fear-I knew he was capable of killing someone when he threatened me. I even went to the police and they told me they couldn't do anything until he actually killed someone (he was on parole for molesting my niece at the time, go figure.) I do think some people are born messed up, and he had plenty of messed up people (parents, the neighbor and wife) who just fed the fire.

He is in prison in Texas, was a teenager (14) at the time of the murder and used a gun so he has to serve half of the 40 yr sentence before he is eligible for parole. This year makes it 20 years. I am fearful for my own safety after he gets out. I know he will get out though soon because he has everyone fooled.
I'm so sorry. :( Get a top notch security system and learn how to use a gun to protect yourself.

I must be an idiot when it comes to penises. I can't even tell that it has not been circumcised. Looks like all the circumcised penises I've ever seen. Any one else seeing this or should I go buy a "Penis for Dummies" book???

I hear a lot of people saying that her family won?t go public to defend her. it is not because we don?t support her! it is because those news stations like to twist your words around and manipulate what you say into what you they think you mean.

I would also like to put out there that Travis?s family or his friends who ever they are are horrible people!!!! I have gotten threatened repeatedly by his followers!! They even went to the length of calling my 2 year old daughter a cunt. They, whoever they are, threatened her life!! So I want to know how they are honoring Travis?s memory by threatening an innocent little girl?? I love my sister and that is all I have to say."
I looked at Angela's myspace a while back, she got preggers with her hs bf and they got married; wedding photos were posted, maybe still are. Then a diatribe about how he cheated on her after they were married and they divorced. she did seem to idolize her older sister.

Wow, that is fucked up. I think you are wise to have no contact. I hope you live far away from wherever he is going to be when he gets out.

Just to add to what we know about Jodi, I read somewhere that she ran away a lot when she was a teenager.

You'd think, right? Then again, this is someone who can't squeeze out a convincing tear when faced with the bruised and bloated image of the man she slaughtered for naught.

I almost doubt that it would have made a difference.

She also was realllllly interested in looking at the pictures Detective Flores had of the crime scene/Travis during her interrogation.

I hope that Jodi is stupid enough to insist to take the stand so Martinez can tear into her. Also hoping the Prosecution decides to do a rebuttal. The way the circus sideshow Defense is dragging this out, I feel like the impact of what the Prosecution presented can be lost over time.

Raised, I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Do you think based on his prison history, you could get on RO? It's worth a try. I'm sure this is a very difficult situation, don't let anyone guilt you into starting over with him. Your fear is something you can't just get over because someone says they've changed.

Kristinella, I was crazy too. Still am.

I think the only thing that could have saved him is if he told her he wanted to be together. Maybe even Mexico could have saved him, until they got back.

I am so sorry that you have been through so much hell. I hope they don't know where you live. Your safety and sanity is more important than any reasoning they can give you to forgive him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I know I'm a little late to this but back to the shower pictures (I do agree that it doesn't really matter and has no basis on her case) but she put NO effort into taking them. Anyone with even a beginners knowledge of Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO and white balance would know how to take a better picture than those. Even if she just "Sprays and Prays" (taking a bunch of pictures and hopes one turns out) she would have gotten SOMETHING better than those. If she had the camera on Auto (using no thought as to any of the settings) the flash would have gone off more. My guess is she really was just sneaking pictures of him.

Wow. That entire story is unreal... Glad you went down a better path. Thanks for sharing.
