I've put my car keys in the fridge several times. They are damn hard to find in there.

If she was drunk, that would explain why the lights were blazing and the door unlocked, etc. Maybe she just passed out without doing all the things one usually does when going to bed, like shutting off the lights and locking doors and windows.

That's exactly what I was thinking! I know I've blacked out plenty of time while drinking in the past, but I highly doubt she was so "blackout" drunk that she did something to her daughter without knowing (If that's what people are thinking). Obviously, they've been searching everywhere and haven't found her. If she were so wasted, I'm sure the baby would've been found in a simple spot lol. I remember one time, I drank so much & blacked out (at the bar) and woke up at home. My car wasn't there and I had no idea where it was. I literally woke up like, "Dude, where's my car?" SO glad that my sister realized how wasted I was and took my keys and drove me home. I didn't remember ANY of that, I didn't even know she was there. Let alone the fact that she took me home and put me to bed. That was a bad night, even worse morning.

I was joking about her misplacing the baby while drunk. Although, I could see it possibly happening. : )

    LOL.

Also, if she was passed out drunk, someone could have come in and danced the macarena, ordered pizza and stole all the phones in the house plus a baby.

I know LOL I was just saying people could be thinking she did something awful since she was drunk. Like I was saying, I've done some pretty crazy things while drunk. But never killd anyone, let alone a baby. And my own. LOL

At first I thought all the lights may have been on from the son getting into bed with his mom-my kids would have done tthat, turned on every light on the way. But then she changed her story and said when her husband got home he was in his bed.
And the parents getting tired of being questioned, I'd be there for days if I thought it would help get my baby back. They look guilty as hell.

But how could keeping you there for days questioning you help get your baby back?

What I mean is, I would not decide to stop answering LE's questions because I 'had enough'. I would cooperate with
them for as long as they needed me. Unless I was guilty.

I'm not saying I think they are innocent. I don't know. But I can kinda understand how frustrating it would be if you are innocent for the questioning to turn towards you being a suspect and just going on and on. That's when they get false confessions. A break is a good thing, I think.

I'm pretty sure at some point I'd have enough. Especially if I felt like they were blaming me and wasting time because they weren't looking for the real kidnapper. But I really have no idea how I'd behave under that much stress.

Also, did she change her story or was it reported in the media wrong? It seems they got several details wrong at first.

Like I said earlier in the thread the last thing I would want to be is locked in a room being questioned for hours because I would want to be involved in the "trying to find my baby" process.

All of these friggin righteous parents calling in to HLN and posting on other forums acting so appalled that parents would drink while at home with their kids sure sound like they need a few martinis.

Zeebee I think she originally said she put the baby to bed at 10:30 and now she states it was much earlier. Her compnay left at 10:30 but she now says she put the baby down at 6:30 I think.

Right? ZOMG I would NEVER drink when my kids are within 100 miles of me! LOL Wait for it. It happens right here.

having just gone trough being repeatedly pressured, questioned and a lawyer attempting to twist my words in a four day trial, I can imagine its quite similar and let me tell you, that was the most emotionally and physically draining experience of my life.

I would still say I would still wanna be apart of any police activity if my child disappeared like that. Hope they find her safe :/

Lawyer: Mom of Missing Baby Has 'Nothing to Hide'

By MARIA SUDEKUM FISHER Associated Press
KANSAS CITY, Mo. October 18, 2011 (AP)

The mother of a missing Missouri baby may not be casting herself in the best light by telling national media that she drank heavily the night her daughter disappeared and other unflattering details, but her honesty shows that she and her family "have nothing to hide," her attorney said.
Deborah Bradley told television audiences Monday that she may have blacked out in the hours before she and Jeremy Irwin reported that their 10-month-old daughter, Lisa Irwin, was missing from their Kansas City home early Oct. 4. Bradley also now says she last saw her daughter hours earlier than she originally told police.

"I don't recall in recent history anyone under this umbrella of suspicion be so open and forthright, warts and all, regarding the events. Because they have nothing to hide," said attorney Joe Tacopina, who held a press conference Monday to announce he had been hired to represent the couple.
The parents reported their daughter missing after Irwin returned home from working a night shift and found the front door unlocked, the house lights on, a window tampered with and the baby gone. Bradley and their two sons were asleep elsewhere in the house.
Police have said they have no suspects in the case and no major leads. On Monday, the parents allowed the FBI to bring tracking dogs through their home. The FBI also searched a neighbor's house with the dogs, as well as the yard of the home where Bradley and Irwin have been staying with their two sons.

Bradley had said in previous days that she checked on Lisa at 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, but on Monday told NBC's "Today" show that she actually last saw Lisa when she put her to bed at 6:40 p.m. She did not explain the time changes.

Bradley told Fox News that she got drunk after she put her daughter to bed that night and may have blacked out. She said she "probably" drank more than five glasses of wine, and said she frequently drank at home after her children were safely in bed. She also said she had taken a dose of anti-anxiety medication that day.

Bradley told NBC that police accused her of killing Lisa, but she insisted again that she had not harmed her daughter.
"No, no. ... I don't think alcohol changes a person enough to do something like that," she said.
Tacopina, who also defended Joran Van der Sloot, the Dutch man suspected in the 2005 disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba, said Bradley detailing her drinking the night Lisa went missing "goes to her credibility."

"That's something she was willing to tell the truth about even if it didn't make her look good because she's got nothing to hide," said Tacopina, who refused to say who was paying him and would only say that he had been hired to counsel the parents through the investigation.
Sean O'Brien, associate professor of law at University of Missouri-Kansas City, said it was difficult to read anything into Bradley's remarks about her drinking or about what police told her. But he said it was wise for the parents to hire a lawyer, and they likely should have done so earlier given what Bradley has said about police accusing her of being involved in the baby's disappearance.

"When the questioning becomes accusatory ... it's time to shut up and lawyer up," O'Brien said.
But he noted that police remain the family's "best hope" of finding the baby, so Bradley would want to continue cooperating.

It's been a long time since I drank alcohol so I don't know how much wine you have to drink to be black-out drunk. Seems like it would take a lot, particularly in a person who "frequently drank."

Well I think that when you decide to stop cooperating with the police, after your 10 month old mysteriously disappears, it looks bad. I can see taking a break-but they took kind of a long break. It wasn't a few hours. I think it was a few days.
And I don't see anything wrong with having a few drinks at home-but when you are alone with a baby and a small child, and one of them is sick, and you think you 'may' have blacked out, come on! That's just stupid.

Neither of those things says guilt to me. What they should have done was lawyered up from the start, in which case they wouldn't be talking to police at all. They are completely within their rights to do that, particularly if police are focused on them instead of looking for the baby (if they are innocent). What police call cooperating and others call cooperating may not be the same thing. As far as the drinking, she says she frequently drinks after the kids are in bed, so stupid as it may be, it sounds like it might be her normal routine and not proof of anything but alcoholism.

When I look at every aspect of this story, the parents, or one of them, look more guilty than innocent. Just my opinion.

I just hope we find out one way or the other instead of Lisa being one of those lost and forgotten kids with no resolution.

See above in every case where a baby disappears.

Hell I was reading something not all that long ago that was blaming Anne Morrow Lindberg for the disappearance and death of baby Lindy...

Unless the kidnappers leave the parent(s) corpse(s) behind, or snatch the child on live TV during a taping of the Today Show, the parents get blamed. Which is usually the right answer. Who else usually has means, motive and opportunity?

Everyone has means. Motive can be many things, pedophilia, hate the parents, want a baby, plain old psychopath, on and on. Opportunity is harder when taken from inside the home, but we all know it happens.

In a serious situation, I think my default would be to hire a lawyer as soon as possible. You have to protect yourself. The police are ALWAYS going to be looking at the parents. The statistics bare (or bear?) that out. I think it would be ignorant not to protect yourself in any situation where you are dealing with the police. I garuntee they are not looking out for you.
