I have changed my mind a couple times in this thread and I'll probably be shocked if/when the truth of it all comes out. My first thought was that someone coughfrootloopcough took the body because if he couldn't have her in life why by golly he was going to have her in death. But then I realized I watch too much Criminal Minds and he is no genius.
Then my thoughts went to the funeral home cremating her too early but I've heard no stories of any other bodies disappearing or lingering beyond their do-date. And I don't see the funeral home calling the police so quickly if they knew it was their employee's mistake or negligence. So that line of thinking is gone too.
And if it had been an employee who wanted to hit the bars early and took the wrong body because he didn't verify that he had the right one, there'd be one too many bodies still there (minus the missing one) when the authorities showed up.
I'm assuming someone counted and IDed the remaining deceased folk the day this all began.
So only one is missing and none were still there that should've been gone. Much as I hate to think it (or rethink it) I'm back to someone removing her body as a possibility. The who and why is baffling. No one just takes a complete stranger like that. It has to be someone with some tie to her. And that takes me full circle back to some one frootloopy. What a mess.
My Mother passed away a year ago, my Dad a couple years earlier and I know how unsettled and upset I'd be if this had happened to us. They both reside in my back bedroom in a place I set up for them. It's creepy yes but I have peace in knowing where they are. It is my closure until they are placed in a family plot next summer.
No matter what the truth ends up being, her family needs that closure too and it truly sucks that they can't have it.
