I feel like her husband did a real disservice to this case by trying to whitewash her reputation. Her shopping trip footage is in this video. As some other Reddit poster says, her husband is the one who says that no one was with her after watching all the CCTV. Would he admit it if he did see someone???

"Since childhood, veteran true crime author Benson (Killer Twins) has been obsessed with the unsolved 1966 murders of two teenage girls in his hometown of Chili, N.Y., a tight-knit community forever marred by that brutal violence. This gripping reexamination of the double homicide blends memoir with detective work and provides a convincing answer to a mystery almost a half-century old. Benson, who was nine at the time of the killings, knew both victims, and he is especially effective at conjuring up the atmosphere of terror that gripped the area afterwards, transforming the small town into a place where children were kept on a very tight leash out of fear that the murderer would strike again. I'm surprised this case hasn't already been mentioned.

Pregnant Woman Went into Labor When She Was Beaten to Death Along with Husband and Son — But Who Killed Them?

According to the Rockford Register Star, the body of Elaine's unborn baby was also found near those of her and Peter after Elaine went into labor during the attack, which took place at their home in Ina, Ill.. All three were beaten to death with a baseball bat, according to the outlet, then tucked into bed together. Keith's body, however, was not located inside of the home, which initially made him the prime suspect.

One day later, Kieth was found murdered one mile away from the home, First Alert 4 reported. He had been shot multiple times and sexually mutilated. Nothing in the family home was missing, and there were reportedly no signs of forced entry.

I want to say this was featured a long time ago on Unsolved Mysteries; however, I cannot confirm it was. I always thought it had to have been a business associate of the father.

Reading the Wiki for the Dardeen family homicides, I cam across this but couldn't find any good articles on it, has anyone heard of this one? It's not a mystery but I am curious to read up more on it:

committed by Thomas Odle, a Mount Vernon teenager who had killed his parents and three siblings as they individually returned to the house one night in 1985

The Bricca family murders. The mother worked as a Vet Tech and the Vet she worked for was a suspect.

    https://www.wcpo.com/lifestyle/from-...ame-stands-out

Evidence from the scene was not stored properly, and degraded.

The Vet was also suspected in other murders.

"GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Fifty years after one of the Tri-State's most horrific crimes, "Who killed the Bricca family" is still a popular topic of conversation, especially on the West Side.

It's a juicy topic laced with rumors of his and her marital affairs and possible connections to the bludgeoning of two women in Seattle and even the notorious killing of a future U.S. senator's daughter in a wealthy neighborhood outside Chicago."

...and in the same vein there is the case of Peter Tuner/Turner:

    https://namus.nij.ojp.gov/case/UP1394

EMTs rushed John Doe to a hospital after a medical emergency. He succumbed within the intensive care unit shortly thereafter. Deceased had multiple IDs with names of Roger S. Smith, Gerald Brown, Peter Turner using various DOB's. He had a form from the Pima County Arizona Health Department. He's thought to be a transient, apparently hiding his true identity.
His fingerprints had been removed, though there is debate over whether it was done intentionally or just happened.

Here's another interesting one. This is just a high-level overview; the link below gets more into the case.

Kevin Ives (17) and Don Henry (16) were hit by a train on August 23, 1987 in Alexander, VA. Employees on the train said they were partly covered by a tarpaulin and were motionless as the train approached them.

Initially, the ME ruled their deaths as an accident with the thought that they fell asleep on the train tracks after smoking marijuana.

Their parents were not satisfied with the ME's findings, so they did their own investigation.

A review of the case was performed by an expert who stated they were skeptical about the marijuana intoxication.

A second autopsy was then conducted, which found the equivalency levels of one to two marijuana cigarettes in their systems. That ME did not feel

A grand jury ruled their deaths as, "probable homicide".

Go down the rabbit hole here: https://encyclopediaofarkansas.net/e...n-henry-12289/

The Phoenix Coldon case is interesting. Her car was left running and she disappeared and hasn't been seen since. After she went missing evidence came to light that she might have a hidden life. Someone who knew the family claimed they saw her on a plane after she went missing. The True Crime community seems to think there is a plausible chance that she went missing on purpose.

In October 2000 two women with the same name (Mary Morris) were murdered in the Houston area, days apart. Someone even called the Houston PD after the first one and said that they got the wrong Mary Morris. Despite this, LE ruled the crimes to be unrelated and neither murder has been solved.
