Yep. I don't FEEL old, and it's always a shock when I realize that "that old guy" on the news is my age, or, shockingly even younger. Roomie had some minor surgery the other day, the surgeon came in to check in with us, introduced himself, asked me how long we'd been together. I told him we'd been roommates since 1982. He informed us that he was born in '87. OMG so old. I feel ancient when I realize that people born in 2000, now have the delusion that they are adults, and that the liquor store seems to agree with them.
Totally understand! I will see someone on the news, or posted on here and think how old they look...and then find out they're my age or younger and think "oh crap, I'm old".

I'm not going to look for the thread because it's been years and it didn't get a lot of traction...anyway, I don't know if anyone else remembers years ago when there was a thread with a picture of a guy convicted of some crime, then a couple years later Beli updated it adding another picture and I commented on how his looks changed but it was clearly 2 different people. I think it was Ron who commented that if I'm ever asked by the police to be an eye witness to decline. Well I was given fake money at work and had to talk to the cops about it, they asked me for a description and I told them that I'd rather them get the picture of him from the camera instead....but it reminded me of that moment because I still can't tell the different between people

I'm just randomly popping in here just to say that I've missed forum so bad!! Reddit and SM just doesn't cut it - I just love that this space still exists, although not as active as in the days of yore. But it's like a timemachine and I'm living for it.

Yeah, people are slowly starting to return because Facebook and Twitter are so strict on what you can and cannot say. If they had a better monitoring system that understood context, that would help, but they don't so even breathing the wrong word gets you banned.

I have two different friends who found out through a genetic test in the last month that they have a half sibling that they never knew about. I find it interesting how the sins of our parents are coming to light with recent DNA advances. I wonder what percentage of people have siblings they don't know about or are not related to the dad they think is their dad?
Im an idiot when it comes to that stuff, how did they know they had half siblings through the test?

They did DNA test and when you get the results with some of the companies they will tell you who your relatives are. Some random people showed up as related as a sibling on their dad's side. Their dads fucked around on their moms and knocked someone up and they had a sibling they never new of. These friends are not connected to each other, so this same thing happened to two of my closest friends within a week of each other.
One of them already found a brother the same way about 5 years ago, but now someone new did a DNA test and is showing up as their half sister too. Who knows how many other siblings could potentially be out there that might be matched to them in the future.
I think a lot of people will be finding out in the near future that their dad's fucked around on their moms! I've heard that as many as 25% of the population weren't fathered by the person that they believe to be their father.
Thanks for breaking it down for me. Did your friends contact their siblings? I dont know what I would do in that situation.

They both reached out. One is meeting the sibling soon and the other one never got a reply. The new sibling was literally born on her birthday. How messed up is that?! She's having a hard time with it.

We had a mass shooting here. I saw some videos and they were awful and terrifying. My son went to a concert downtown on Friday night and I told him to go to the concert and come straight home, do NOT walk around downtown. The shooting happened the next night. Way too scary.
I think it was about 20 people shot, 6 or 8 dead not sure of the exact number.

I saw that...how horrible. When we lived in Folsom we used to go downtown a bit here and there.
