This is so heartbreaking. Even though serious school bus crashes are very rare considering how many kids are transported to and from school every day in this country, for me, putting my son on the bus the first few days was the hardest part of sending him off to kindergarten last year. It's just hard to give up that control to a total stranger. So many important little lives on every bus. Ugh.
Surely this guy had to have a clean record and a good MVR to be a school bus driver, and it's hard to imagine he did this on purpose unless he was having a mental break or something ... but now there's this:

Report: Driver Asked Kids 'Are You Ready To Die' Before Crashing Bus In Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WWJ/AP) - Parents of some of the children who survived a deadly school bus crash in Chattanooga are starting to shed some light on the moments leading up to the crash, which killed five kids and injured more than 20 others.
CBS News Correspondent Mark Strassmann spoke to a mother who had three children on the bus, one of whom died. The mother says that her other two children told her that just before the crash, the bus driver asked the children if they were ready to die.
"The mother says that in the moments before the crash, the bus driver said something to the effect of 'Are you all ready to die?' and then seconds later, the bus was on its side and five kids were killed," said Strassmann.

I wonder if more than one kid heard him (allegedly) say that.
Well, now that link says only 5 kids were killed. Why is it so inconsistent?
Not sure if he said it or not, but I would think other kids would have said something if he did. They're going to investigate the black box, I wonder if it records audio?
I think some do.
Kids normally know their bus drivers really well. My kids, in our old district where we had busses, loved their bus drivers. I tend to believe the kids if they said he did say that:(
Granted, when he lost control he might have yelled "we are going to die". If there was panic he could have easily been misunderstood.
The bus driver asked the kids if they were ready to die. WTF?! 😠😠😠

Tennessee school bus crash: Mother of driver offers and asks for compassion
Okay, this made me crack up.
But we know Bewitching and I know she didn't mean it to be construed like that. I don't believe she's racist. C'mon guys. There's other things about his appearance that would make people possibly wonder. His eyes being red, his age etc.
You have to consider the source. If it were Oh Racist or Kat then yeah.....
I think Zyaira (from Music's link above) has a twin. According to the following article, her sisters, 6-year-old Zasmyn and 10-year-old Zacauree'a are in ICU. both still in intensive care:

Their mother says she has complained repeatedly about the driver and that he would do things like slam on the brakes so the kids would hit their heads:

This article gives some detail about the other three girls who died, Zyanna, Cordayja and Zoie:

So I guess it's four girls and the little kindergarten boy who are deceased. Zoie's brother, Zecheriah, was in ICU but has improved.
See, that's what makes me wonder. Now that I hear that he may have slammed the brakes etc in the past, it's entirely possible. Think about it. Being a bus driver is truly a thankless job. You have to deal with copious amounts of children that don't respect you the same way as they do a teacher. You're only seeing them when they're riled up, first thing in the morning and after school when they're all letting loose that pent up energy of the day. You have to try to keep them in their seats and behaving WHILE you're trying to pay attention to the road. I seriously wouldn't be surprised if he snapped. I couldn't do it.
