I think you aren't understanding. Mods do not view rep the same way we do. I get a long list of every single smite and karma with the user's name next to it. As a FACT, Deb is not the person who smites you the most. She is not smiting you anonymously. What I am trying to tell you is I don't think people are hiding by not signing their sigs, I think they're just forgetting that when you're not premie, you can't see their names.

In the old days, one rep or smite was worth exactly 1 point, not the eleventy billion the new system operates on, so it more accurately portrayed your 'rewards' and made smiting or repping have 'more weight and value' so to speak. Also, you could rep someone once an hour, instead of having to deal out meaningless karma to people just so you can get a chance to approve of or smite the poster you actually want to comment on. However, I believe the system changed because this format for the website makes it impossible to do things that way, which sucks. Karma stuff was a lot more fun back then.

Yes. Karma was much more fun. I liked to read other posters karma logs, and a bump of 1 point either way was noticeable, but now. It's just kind of sad. And then you have people throwing hissy fits about it. Silly. I think I've smitted (smitten?) maybe 5 people a total of 7 times.
And, AND! You saw the whole history. They didn't meet a max and fall off the list.
Also they linked back to the post so you could see what the fuss was about.
