I'm doing the most unconscious, anti-working class thing I've ever done. I hired a cleaning woman. It is thrilling me to no end. I did it to settle my mind and free me up for more writing time (with that whole dissertation thing turning into a do-or-die situation). I used to spend a lot more on cigarettes, so for 3 hours a week, I still save dough. Cleaning women, saving dough, and quitting smoking make me happy.
(not so)DTTMMH: My "boss" (Not really, Since I'm an I/C) recently talked to me about moving to a new area in my job. They said they need a reliable person for the position, and chose me because everyone has rave reviews and I am known for doing things quickly and just being that damn good. .
Right now, I am working 12 hour days 6 days a week to make (during really good months) $2k at most, a month. With the new area, I'd be cutting the hours and my expenses, while doubling the pay. Plus, they are going to 'lease' me a van, so my poor car can be retired to minimal use.
Fuuuuuuck Yes. Great news to get after such a shitty week!
that's awesome boogie! don't go blowing all that new cash in one place...
DTTMMH: i got promoted too! well, sort of. the editor in chief at the school paper has stepped down to take care of business and the managing editor is taking her place. instead of picking a page editor for managing editor, they chose me. i got to jump right over the whole page editing thing and focus my time bossing people around - making sure they come up with story ideas, get their articles in on time and check in with the staff reporters.
now i get to add managing editor of a newspaper to my resume!!!
Sprawling out across the middle of the bed. Ahhhhh...
my sociology teacher has put us in groups. she is having us take the tests in groups (which i fear will fuck up my 100% average). but, my group is cool. we have to name our groups, and when i suggested 'counter-culture queers' everyone was on board.
I haven't seen my daughter in 10 days, she left me the sweetest message about missing me. Little things mean the most.

YIKES! i had not known, when taking on the position of managing editor, it would entail soooooo much work! i gotta get this shit organized - which means lots of checklists and protocol writing. which is great! i love writing rules down! i'm strange, i know...
it shouldn't make me happy, but it does. i'm so relieved that i dropped guitar.
