The victim survived the initial ordeal on May 11, but died a week later in hospital from her injuries.
Having been initially arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and abuse of an endangered or impaired person, detectives are considering bringing murder charges against Collins.
Police records of the incident state the elderly woman had 'part of her chin bitten off,' according to Region 8 News.
'She had also been bitten on the face, hand, arm, leg, and the nipple of the victim's left breast had been bitten off.'

Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce announced today charges have been upgraded from First Degree Battery to Second Degree Murder gainst Jennifer Lea Collins, 55, of Mammoth Spring. Although still alive when found May, 11, the elderly victim Jane Sanderfur, whose care Collins? was entrusted to subsequently died about a week later due to complications caused by injuries inflicted upon her by Collins. In addition to the Murder charge Collins faces charges of Abuse of an Endangered or Impaired Person, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct.

Boyce said, ?After carefully reviewing the evidence in this case including a review of the autopsy and consultation with the Crime Lab Medical Examiner, I decided that the upgrade in charges was warranted.? Collins initial charge of Battery in the 1st Degree was a Class B felony punishable by between 5 and 20 years in the Department of Correction. Murder in the Second Degree is a Class A Felony punishable by 6 to 30 years in the Department of Correction.
