Keith Lamont Scott was sitting in a car, reading a book, when he was shot four times by undercover police in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday afternoon. Family members and witnesses say Scott, who was disabled, was waiting for a school bus to drop one of his sons off when police encountered him. The police version of what happens disputes that, of course. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they were at The Village at College Downs apartment complex to deliver an outstanding warrant, when they saw Scott exit a vehicle with a weapon and then get back into the vehicle. As the officers approached Scott, they say he exited the vehicle a second time with a weapon in his hand. That?s when one of the officers yelled ?Gun!? and fired his service weapon at Scott, hitting him several times. Scott was taken to the Carolinas Medical Center where he died. He was 43 years old. Relatives of Scott at the scene say that the police did not identify themselves before they shot Scott:

"He was waiting on his son to get from school and police came out with no ? he didn't have on no uniform to determine if he was a police or not ? he was an undercover and he just jumped out and yelled 'gun' and shot at him," the man said. "I think they shot him four times. I'm not sure, but he's dead."

Scott's sister told WSOC he "wasn't messing with nobody" when the undercover officers showed up.

"They jumped out their truck. They said, 'Hands up! He got a gun! He got a gun!' Pow, pow, pow, pow," she said. "That's it. He didn't have no gun."

This one's still weird - completely differing reports from the sister and the police. Sister says he was unarmed reading a book, police say they recovered a gun and found no book.

Obviously, i'm inclined to believe the sister, but keen for footage - apparently there's phone footage, just not out yet.

Dramatic new footage of the fatal encounter between Keith Lamont Scott and Charlotte police filmed by his own wife has been released by his family.
The video, obtained by NBC News, shows the moments immediately leading up to Scott's death as well as the aftermath.*
Gunshots can be heard but his wife Rakeyia Scott appears to drop her phone at that moment, before regaining her composure and filming the aftermath of his death, with police searching his body.

I agree, it is very suspect about the gun being there after he was shot...but you do not see it in his hand. I don't understand why the poor man was killed when it is clear he had his hands up and was following their commands.

Have you guys been seeing the videos where it looks like the red shirt guy throws a gun down? I saw it around for two days and then everyone saying it has been deleted off their Facebook feeds, and that's the last I heard of it.

I did see and and although I'm vehemently against corruption and wanted this not to be true, if you look closely the guy in the red shirt was standing over it one foot on either side of the gun before it looked like he dropped it. He was actually securing it in it's place until the guy was cuffed then kicked it away. The camera moved in a way where it made it look like he dropped it. The second "Drop" was a latex glove that he took out from his pocket.

I think that out of the cases in the news of late, there are plenty of cases where the cops were wrong and either committed murder or totally abused their power. In this case, I think the dude was in the wrong. I think he was violent with his wife/family. I think the wife knew this about him. I think she had that camera ready to film and I think she ramped up the situation to where she pretty much guaranteed the outcome and that she was going to get paid more than he would ever see in his or her lifetime. I don't think he had a book or if he did have a book, it was in addition to the gun and not in place of the gun. I believe he was mentally ill to some degree or another and I think she used this fact to have him shot by police.
