It's been nearly three weeks after the death of Ellington mom Connie Dabate, 39, on December 23, and there have been no arrests made or suspects named.
"Everywhere you go, people are talking about it," said Ellington dad John Szymanski. "I think now it's more frustration than the first sudden shock of anger or concern. Now, it's frustration because people want answers because she was a fantastic mom and a wonderful lady."
The medical examiner said Dabate died from gunshot wounds to the abdomen and head. Her death was ruled a homicide. Her husband, Richard Dabate, was also treated for minor injuries.
"It's a little unnerving," said Natasha Delaney, who works at the Valero gas station at the corner of Main and West Streets in Ellington. "Just knowing someone was murdered really close to here and they still haven't found anyone or even will kind of give clues if they know who did it."
"It is a relatively small town, so it's kind of weird that people haven't a suspect," said Ellington resident Chris Brawley.
At Holiday Pizza in Ellington, customers said they are praying for the Dabate children and find the situation unnerving.
State Police told FOX 61 there is no update, and said the case is still under investigation. State Police said on Christmas Eve that this was an isolated incident.
"They said don't worry about it, the community is safe," said Szymanski. "But at the same time, very little detail but there's more detail we don't know about. What's the truth? No matter what it is, people need to know."
